Homsar

Is it really worth mentioning that Homsar is not in it, as he was not a character yet. He wasnt even created until a year later. - Lord-Z.

Actually, he is in it, see the DVD version on Everything Else. Homfrog 12:39, 17 November 2005 (UTC)

So, from the DVD version, he appears to be in design one of his evolution. And the lyrics, "Homestar Runner, mom and dad!" are sung at his time. Does that mean Homsar is Homestar's Poopaw? Homfrog 12:42, 17 November 2005 (UTC)

And Marzipan is his mother, and he's Oedipal! Wait 'til the Shakespeare scholars get hold of this one! —AbdiViklas 14:21, 17 November 2005 (UTC)
I think the new visuals were added later, intentionally in the older style. And no, I don't think that Homsar is Homestar's father. --Jay (Talk) 12:46, 17 November 2005 (UTC)
I do not understand that, AbdiViklas. Homfrog 20:16, 9 December 2005 (UTC)

Skatetown, USA

Anyone have any idea what "skatetown, usa" is? It's on the back wall in the Bubs dance scene. ~Hobo

I'm assuming that it's the name of a fictional rollerskating rink. — InterruptorJones[[]]

Actually, Skatetown USA was a Movie released in 1979 - there are many real Skatetown USA roller rinks in the United States.

Veracity of newly-added fun fact?

Can someone (besides the submitter of the above fun fact) back up that the following fun fact is, indeed, true? If it can be confirmed it should be returned the article.

*this song is almost the same as the NES Super Homestario Bros. song. The only difference is that this song is longer.

--Teh P. 19:01, 28 Oct 2004 (MST)

The poster is correct, it's the same song as in Super NES. It should be linked, and worded better. — InterruptorJones[[]]

Video Description?

I really think there should be some kind of transcript of the video itself. The page seems a bit empty when there's just the lyrics. --Upsilon

  • You are SO right. According to this page there's no way to tell what the video was like.

Mom and Dad

Which came out first? This or Homestarloween Party? If this came first, the fun fact on the Homestarloween Party page stating it's the first mention of a mom of any character is wrong.Just saying...— Ookelaylay

Actually, Super NES came out first.--Jnelson09 20:53, 27 March 2006 (UTC)

Brother Chaps

I slowed down the song and I still can't make out the Brother Chaps...--Martin925 03:54, 12 December 2005 (UTC)

I can kinda hear them... but not really. — talk Bubsty edits 04:14, 12 December 2005 (UTC)

The distributive whaddawahuh?

Can someone refresh my mind (and maybe a fun fact) as to what this is?--Robert Benedicio 05:57, 30 December 2005 (UTC)

Knife hits Strong Sad?

Note: This discussion originated from an uploaded image titled Strong Bad edited.jpg showing the last frame of the scene when Strong Bad throws a knife at Strong Sad. The uploader posted a fun fact claiming that the knife did in fact hit Strong Sad. Below is the resulting discussion arguing the validity of this statement.

Ummm... That's kinda disturbing... Thunderbird 00:04, 7 January 2006 (UTC)

Does it really hit him, or did Mario-whatever just make that? I don't think TBC would do that on a website that can be for kids... — talk Bubsty edits 00:08, 7 January 2006 (UTC)
It's Strong Bad edited.jpg. And I don't recall it actually showing the result. Thunderbird 00:09, 7 January 2006 (UTC)
Actully, after watching it, the knife does hit Strong Sad. Creepy. — talk Bubsty edits 00:11, 7 January 2006 (UTC)
After watching it myself, and pausing on the flash file, it actually cuts to a different scene before it hits him. That picture is the last frame we can see before it cuts, and the knife is clearly still in front of him, on an unknown vector, most likely to the upper right of the board, just missing him. Thunderbird 01:01, 7 January 2006 (UTC)
Not the paused version I saw. I rewound back a few frames, and it was stuck right in him. --DorianGray
Mm, no. It's not stuck in him. That's just the way the in-flight knife is drawn. There are only two frames of the knife in-flight. Compare them. It looks blunted, but the tip of the knife is actually that uppermost point. The knife can't be sticking into Strong Sad when the entire tip is still visible. In fact, I don't think this image is even edited. —BazookaJoe 01:39, 7 January 2006 (UTC)
Whoa. This is the greatest undersea epic ever filmed longest image talk page I've ever seen. Has Matt? (talk) 01:43, 7 January 2006 (UTC)

My own little reference-library. I searched it for longer pages for you. Of course, we keep this up and I'll have to baleet it. :) —BazookaJoe 01:54, 7 January 2006 (UTC)
Yeah, I don't think it's actully hitting him. — talk Bubsty edits 01:50, 7 January 2006 (UTC)
I balleeted the fun fact, because:
1. It's not a goof, it's a remark.
2. (More important), we don't know if it's true or not.
3. Er... there isn't 3. But a two number list seems kinda odd.
If anyone disagrees with me, put it back, by all means! Although, at the stage it is now, I think this picture is useless. — talk Bubsty edits 02:21, 7 January 2006 (UTC)
skew'd!

After closer inspection, Pom Pom and I agree that the knife does not hit Strong Sad, and it isn't blunt when it's in flight, just skewed to give the impression of dimension. — It's dot com 02:52, 7 January 2006 (UTC)

Before (if) this image (Strong Bad edited.jpg) and gets deleted in the near future along with this Image talk: page, I would like this discussion copied to Talk:Theme Song Video. —BazookaJoe 03:13, 7 January 2006 (UTC)

I'm surprised anybody responded at all to an image talk page, let alone several having a full blown discussion (that I was on the winning side of =P) Thunderbird 03:23, 7 January 2006 (UTC)

Pronunciation

Should it be noted that "ath-a-lete" is pronounced "ath-a-LATE? Im a bell 03:04, 6 March 2007 (UTC)

er... does ANYONE visit this page? Im a bell 03:04, 6 March 2007 (UTC)
Yes, I think so. But that's just one opinion. Wait for more users to put their input before changing anything. --TheYellowDart(t/c) 03:07, 6 March 2007 (UTC)
Yes, I hear "ath-a-late" as well, and per the fourth point on HRWiki:Manual of Style#Spelling, we should change it in the transcript. Go ahead and make the change, if you like. Trey56 03:09, 6 March 2007 (UTC)
tanks. i'll also put (athlete) so people can understand it. Im a bell 01:20, 7 March 2007 (UTC)

DVD Version

Are the new scenes in the old style or the current style? Do they try to animate Homsar in the old style? Bad Bad Guy 18:15, 5 April 2007 (UTC)

Yeah, he has his overly-large hat from homsar in it. --DorianGray 18:19, 5 April 2007 (UTC)
So it's the old style? Bad Bad Guy 17:16, 6 April 2007 (UTC)
Yes. --DorianGray 17:28, 6 April 2007 (UTC)
