Talk:404'd
From Homestar Runner Wiki
I kind of figured I should just replace this page's text with the one I wrote.. I found this one after I did 404. Glad you liked it though :) --AndrewNeo 18:33, 5 Oct 2004 (MST)
Yeah, your page was so much better. Thanks for making it. --Kilroy 20:24, 5 Oct 2004 (MST)

[edit] Not existant?
- It appears as if they aren't using the 404'd page anymore. Just a plain ol' internet explorer 404 page. Either my computer is screwed up, or we should mention this...TK600 00:28, 4 May 2005 (UTC)
- Your computer is screwed up. →FireBird
- I don't think so, I'm using firefox and I'm getting the stock 404 error page, but I can still access the customized 404 page. Does anyone still get the customized 404 for a broken file name? ---Euphoric
- It would seem this page is not being accessed for 404 errors. I've replicated the problem. - Qermaq - (T/C)

[edit] How Is It Done?
How do you make a specail 404 page for every page that doesn't exist? TotalSpaceshipGirl3
- It's a setting on their web server. Each time the server returns a 404 error, it redirects the browser to the 404'd page that TBC have specified. Most web servers have this capability. — It's dot com 18:10, 11 November 2005 (UTC)
- Oh, I don't suppose that'll work on hosting services? TotalSpaceshipGirl3
- It might. Detailed instructions can be found at HTML Goodies, the site that first taught me html one tag at a time in the 90s. —AbdiViklas 18:42, 11 November 2005 (UTC)

- We do the same thing here on the Wiki. See an example. -- Tom 18:46, 11 November 2005 (UTC)
- It's done by editing a file named 404.shtml if you don't want to go through a link to HTMLgoodies. Not all hosts all you to make error pages though. --205.213.123.69 16:54, 7 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] 404.shtml
When accessing the page 404.shtml it gives a real error page, (A 403 forbidden page actually, which has been integrated into another error.) This may be notable, or not depending on how you look at it. --205.213.123.69 16:55, 7 March 2008 (UTC)
[edit] May I?
I saw an inside reference on the page (lowercase i) may I put it in?
Go ahead, Mr. Nobody. - VmKid 13:13, 1 September 2009 (UTC)
- Actually, strong bad's writing doesn't count, as that font's uppercase i's look like lowercase i's. (see lowercase i's) — Defender1031*Talk 14:36, 1 September 2009 (UTC)
[edit] Updated
As of the new HTML5 update, this page has been changed (see here). How should we go about updating this page to reflect that? I don't want to get rid of the old version's documentation. -Thunderzizi 18:03, 18 July 2018 (UTC)
- The old page still exists and this one is stylistically different from the original. Actually, looking at how we had an even older 404 page, I would suggest that we create a brand new page and link the two together. --Stux 22:07, 18 July 2018 (UTC)
- Good idea. We could move this page to "Old 404'd", and replace this page with the new 404'd.
Gfdgsgxgzgdrc 22:54, 18 July 2018 (UTC)
- I think it would be better to keep this page's name (as lots of stuff links to it). I'd also like to have fun with the name so I made a stub called Neon 404'd. --Stux 03:03, 22 July 2018 (UTC)
- I added a sentence in the header of the article stating referencing and linking to the article to the newer Neon 404'd page. --98.209.14.105 22:28, 29 September 2020 (UTC)

[edit] Stlunko, 404
This page lists "Stlunko, 404" from the Stinkomanual as a reference to the 404'd page, but 404 errors aren't exclusive to Homestar Runner or this specific page. Should I remove it? Gfdgsgxgzgdrc 20:34, 23 July 2018 (UTC)
