Talk:Bad Graphics
From Homestar Runner Wiki

This is all already covered in Retro Gaming Character Variations, Bad Graphics Ghost, and Peasant's Quest Preview. Copying the text from three different places and pasting it all together does not an article make. -- Tom 20:59, 20 June 2006 (UTC)
- First I was going to make the article, clean it up, and then request to have the Bad Graphics Ghost page deleted, or to redirect here. Also, doesn't this also, make things more organized?--H*Bad 21:04, 20 June 2006 (UTC)
- No, it puts three things that all happen to share two adjectives all jumbled together. Also, pages are moved with the page move feature of the MediaWiki software, not a copy/paste and then redirect or delete. (And please do not attempt to move the Bad Graphics Ghost article here now, we are still discussing the merit of this article.) -- Tom 21:11, 20 June 2006 (UTC)
- (Don't worry I won't move it)So, I believe that this article should stay, for one reason there are far worse articles on here than this. Second off, give this article a chance to expand, instead of going straight at it to delete it.--H*Bad 21:53, 20 June 2006 (UTC)

- We are discussing this article's merit, not any other article. And what else would you expand on this article? Would that expansion lend any merit to the article? -- Tom 01:23, 21 June 2006 (UTC)
- I know, I was just using it as an example. And yes an expansion would lead to a merit of the article.--H*Bad 13:14, 21 June 2006 (UTC)

- You answered the secondary question and ignored the primary. I'll attempt to clarify:

- Would that expansion (your answer to question one) lend any merit to the article? -- Tom 13:45, 21 June 2006 (UTC)
- I would expand the discription of those three Bad Graphics paragraphs. In which I am doing currently.--H*Bad 13:51, 21 June 2006 (UTC)

I don't think this grouping is particularly meaningful. At best, this could serve as a disambiguation page. The concept of "Bad Graphics" isn't quite endemic enough to be called a running gag, and it's unlikely anyone searching for "Bad Graphics" would be looking for every instance of "bad graphics" on the site anyway. - Qermaq - (T/C) 21:27, 20 June 2006 (UTC)
- Also, whether or not a graphic fits into the "bad graphics" category is quite subjective. For example, do games done in the Atari or NES style have "bad graphics" because the image resolution is equal to or less than that of the "Bad graphics ghost"?

- Qermaq: Sure, I think a redirect or at the most a disambiguation page could work. Trey56: A very good point. I think that's why we use "Retro Gaming" in the Retro Gaming Character Variations article. -- Tom 21:50, 20 June 2006 (UTC)
- I am sorry, but I don't seem to remember the Bad Graphics ghost as a Retro Gaming Character Variation.--H*Bad 22:01, 20 June 2006 (UTC)
- It's not under Retro Gaming, as the BGG is its own character, not a different version of an already-existing one. I think, however, it might be neat having a page of characters that aren't variations or from retro games, but are still bad graphics anyway. Like the BGG or Rather Dashing. --DorianGray

This page is trying to marge semi-related topics under one article. I'll comment them one by one. The Bad Graphic Ghost can't be marged, as it is a full character. It's been featured several times and is even on the Everybody Everybody Poster. The Bad Graphic Homestar is listed under Retro Gaming Character Variations. "Good graphics" on the Peasant's Quest is just a saying. If you have other intances of "Good/bad graphics", please find them if you want to save this article. — Elcool (talk)(contribs) 14:57, 21 June 2006 (UTC)
Ok, so how is this?--H*Bad 22:16, 26 June 2006 (UTC)
- Now the article doesn't even make sense. It sounds like you're trying to take the two adjectives Bad and Graphics and make them into a character. You refer to Bad Graphics as first appearing as one thing, then as another. You started referring to it as "it" when it's really still just two adjectives. Then calling it Bad Graphics "object" later on doesn't add any credence either. It's not an running gag. It's not a character. Please, let's just redirect it to Bad Graphics Ghost and be done with it. -- Tom 22:27, 26 June 2006 (UTC)
- A running gag is an amusing situation or line that constantly reappears throughout the site. Often the repetition of the running gag is exactly what makes it so humorous. See Running Gags. Something appearing more than once, and yes, even six times, does not just make it a running gag. And did you think it was a running gag? You don't have it tagged as such. You initially had it tagged as a character, but then you removed that. -- Tom 22:50, 26 June 2006 (UTC)
- When you started the article you included it in the Characters category, and you left it there in two subsequent edits before you yourself removed it. For information on the Running Gags category, please see Category:Running Gags. And you thinking that bad graphics are amusing still doesn't show that this page has merit. -- Tom 02:08, 27 June 2006 (UTC)
