[edit] Moved from "Highlights FAQ"

I've moved this because while there's a clear resemblance to Highlights magazine, we shouldn't make a habit of assigning things arbitrary names. Users will search for "FAQ", not "Highlights FAQ", and their search should get them where they want to go as quickly as possible. — InterruptorJones[[]] 21:42, 15 Feb 2005 (MST)

The only reason I put the page where I did is because in checking whether there was an FAQ page already, the wiki's search function automatically sent me to the WIKI FAQ, so I was a tad worried that there might be interference. --TheNintenGenius 10:10, 16 Feb 2005 (MST)

[edit] Previous FAQS

How many previous FAQs have there been? I've been around long enough to only have seen the Compy one, so I'm wondering what came before that. --Ogog

None came before, Ogog. If you look on the Email FAQ page, it says that this FAQ was proceeded by "N/A."
I'm not entirely sure about that. The only reason that I personally put an n/a there is because I have no idea, personally, if there was a pre-Compy FAQ. --TheNintenGenius 00:44, 22 Feb 2005 (MST)
You mean you don't know? Does anybody out there know if the Compy FAQ had a predecessor? Possibly a Tandy FAQ? --acekirby13 14:29, 21 Mar 2005 (MST)
You could try asking "SnailMail" on the forums. She/he claims to have joined H*R before the first SBEmail came out.
I believe, though i can't prove this, that there was one before the Compy one, but it just had the text, no special animation. --216.209.112.15

[edit] Dumb Luck?

"The second answer used to say "Dumb Luck" instead of "Pure Luck"." Do you have any proof of this, The Mu? Dumb Luck ruins the joke of the movie "Pure Luck". —FireBird|Talk 18:01, 4 Jun 2005 (UTC)

I know it used to say that! --Da M-izz-uTizzalk 16:16, 8 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] The cover

I know I have seen the cover for the FAQ on the internet before, possibly on DeviantART. Have you guys seen it? I can't find it.

no. — talk Bubsty edits 18:45, 10 December 2005 (UTC)
The top of the FAQ page reads: The current FAQ, based on Highlights for Children. --Stux 21:10, 12 December 2005 (UTC)

I've seen it on DeviantArt.-Anonymous

Me too. --Trogga 18:24, 23 February 2007 (UTC)
Here, but do you think the guy who claims he did the drawing did it? Maybe TBC took it, but its the same as the FAQ down to the pencil strokes of pom pom. user.gif user.gifDevonM(talkยทcont-ribs)
I think that you must be right: the image on that page has higher resolution than is possible to get from the FAQ Flash file. Good find! Anyone else know anything about this or have thoughts? Trey56 00:38, 25 March 2007 (UTC)
I always have thoughts. ;) The possibilities here are that the DA submitter is one of TBC (in which case there is no controversy) or that he is not (in which case there might possibly be - though the image could have been used with permission). See this comment on DA. Plus, I suppose that it's used with permission, as the FAQ cover says it's drawn by Audrey, but I can't find that name on the artist's profile (maybe I'm blind). So I'm assuming they emailed her and asked. Loafing 00:47, 25 March 2007 (UTC)
Yeah, you're probably right. Trey56 00:49, 25 March 2007 (UTC)
I wonder if she even could have refused, given that she drew characters that are TBC's intellectual property. — It's dot com 00:50, 25 March 2007 (UTC)
I'm sure she could have refused. The only thing that TBC could have done was forcing her to remove it from the site. But heck, why would she refuse? ;-) Loafing 00:56, 25 March 2007 (UTC)

I just noticed nobody has mentioned this, so I'll do it here for future references: The DeviantArt picture was submitted Apr 7, 2004, nearly a whole year before the FAQ came out. Together with Trey's observation about the image size, it appears true that this is in fact the original version (at least it's not taken from the FAQ). I'm gonna link it from the article. Loafing 01:03, 25 March 2007 (UTC)

Sounds great. Trey56 01:03, 25 March 2007 (UTC)
Two small updates: here's the original version on Elfywn's account, and here's proof that Elfwyn's real name is Audrey (thanks to It's dot com). Trey56 01:28, 25 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Closed STUFF

[edit] Ouch. What do you STUFF?

The page title is a reference to the NES game Goonies II, in which enemies would respond with this Engrish phrase when attacked.

[edit] Picature

Maybe the word picature is actually a Portmanteau of 'Picture' and 'caricature'. Whaddaya think? Fray Pentaro (Talk | contribs) 07:24, 20 June 2007 (UTC) (left unsigned)

Sounds plausible — and, in a sense, Audrey's drawings are caricatures of the Homestar Runner characters... Trey56 07:26, 20 June 2007 (UTC)
