Homsar Menu Page

Hi there. I noticed your addition to the Secret Pages article about the Homsar Main Page source code. Are you talking about the .SWF file code or the HTML file code? Because I don't see anything in the memorabilia.html source. Thanks. -- Tom 13:34, 10 Feb 2005 (MST)

In Firefox, go to the page source of memorabilia.html. Look for the tag that says SCRIPT LANGUAGE="Javascript" in caps. Below that, there is this line:

!-- function newwin1() { window.open("costumes01.html"

There's more than that, but it's not worth adding. Venusy

Ah ha, I see it now. Thanks. -- Tom 17:58, 11 Feb 2005 (MST)

Wiki Troll

You said you wanted to learn how to do the whole wiki troll deal, where here it is: my own poorly worded explanation.

Well, you need to scroll to the bottom. You should see something that looks like this

|}

Now, that should be the last thing on the entire offenders section, and you need to keep it that way. So you need to hit enter before it so that there's a space in between the last line and the "|}" Okay, in that space you should add this:

|-

and then hit enter again. Now put one bar "|" and write in the date. Then put two bars "||" and write in which user did it and link to all of their contributions. Then put two more bars, link to the pages they trolled and link to the actual edits. Then put two more bars and describe what they did. Then make sure that the "|}" is still at the bottom, and you're done. Here's what it should look like in the code

|-
||2/25/05 || 82.155.5.110 (all edits) || Strong Bad's Message Bored || Spammed Strong Bad's Message Bored again with the spamming!
|}

Here's what it will look like on the actual page:

Date IP Address and Contributions Pages defaced Description
2/25/05 82.155.5.110 (all edits) Strong Bad's Message Bored [1] Spammed Strong Bad's Message Bored again with the spamming!

I hope this helps

evin290

Oh, and don't worry about the part that says

Date IP Address and Contributions Pages defaced Description

Since that's already on the wikitroll page, you don't need to add it on again

Thank you. -- Venusy

Test template

Hi there Venusy. I just noticed your comment in the summary of change for the recent edit you made to super powers. In cases like that, I usually like to leave a "test" note on the user's talk page. More information is on the talk page for the template. The wikicode looks just like this: . -- Tom 13:45, 23 Mar 2005 (MST)

Right, I'll remember that. I couldn't tell whether that edit was a test edit or trolling however, so I couldn't tell whether to add to WikiTroll or not. But thanks for that. --Venusy 20:49, 23 Mar 2005 (GMT)

Images

One of your personal images has to go, Venusy, in accordance with HRWiki:User page. Please mark one of them to be deleted. Thanks. —FireBird|Talk 16:33, 12 Jul 2005 (UTC)

Thought so. I'll choose to delete the Lappy one, that didn't get compressed too good thanks to MSPaint. --videlectrix.pngENUSY discussionitem_icon.gif user.gifmail_icon.gif, 17:35, 12 July 2005 (BST)

XML Error?

I'm havin' a bit o' trouble getting yer XML level files. every time i click a link, it shows a freakin' error message. Seriuosly needin' help, User:Undabite

Yeah, IE is REALLY picky about certain XML files. Does it show something like this?

The XML page cannot be displayed
Cannot view XML input using XSL style sheet.
Please correct the error and then
click the Refresh button, or try again later.

Big load of blank space

How much is a "big load" of blank space? Is it more than this? (Ignore the text; that problem should have been fixed.) If not, that's not so much. If so, would you upload a screenshot. You can save over that image above... it's served its usefulness. — It's dot com 17:28, 15 Aug 2005 (UTC)

No, that's the correct amount. I exaggerate a lot when it gets too warm, so yes, it's more of a "medium/small" amount of blank space. I can't tell why this is only happening with this image though, and not any some of the others on STUFF. --videlectrix.pngENUSY discussionitem_icon.gif user.gifmail_icon.gif, 18:35, 15 August 2005 (BST)

EDIT: Actually, the ham hearted comparison image sometimes suffers a slightly weirder fate, and sometimes the same as above. I've located the problem, and it is this: Firefox doesn't like captions on STUFF. The Dijjery-Doo comparison images? Fine. The Cheat's adorable blue eyes images? Also fine. It's just the images with captions, and I can't work out why it happens. --videlectrix.pngENUSY discussionitem_icon.gif user.gifmail_icon.gif, 19:00, 15 August 2005 (BST)

STUFF stuff

Where's STUFF.??? Mr. Bojangles

See HRWiki:STUFF. --videlectrix.pngENUSY discussionitem_icon.gif user.gifmail_icon.gif, 23:31, 16 August 2005 (BST)
To get there from the main page, click on The Stick in the navigation menu. You can also type "stuff" in the search box and it will take you straight there. — It's dot com 22:35, 16 Aug 2005 (UTC)
In regards to Venusy's rather condescending revert of what I added to Trogdor-con '97 ("Did you do any STUFF checking before you turned this in? Reverted."), no. I went by the Wikistandards article and thought the item was something not obvious to a common viewer of H*R.
I have been sheepish about doing anything in the HR Wiki due to facing attitudes such as those displayed by Venusy, hoping to add interesting information to a knowledge base only to be shot down. I wholly realize that there is a defining line between what is extraneous information and what is an interesting tidbit. I felt that, from the help guidelines, I was within reason for adding that. Granted, I should have paid attention to STUFF just in case.
Even though Venusy's rather cold response to my attempt to contribute to this wiki was vindicated I do believe I will no longer attempt to participate here. It's been made quite clear to me that any further members are just getting in the way and are not welcome--especially when articles are fully fleshed out an hour after anything new on H*R pops up. --User:Trev-MUN
I'm sorry you feel that way. It is suggested that if the checkstuffpage template is on the page, it is a good idea to check that before adding a new fun fact. In your case, the proposed fun fact was up for discussion on said page. In my defence, I came back off vacation yesterday, and I only got 3 (or possibly less) hours of sleep last night. Another problem was caused by my style of edit summaries. I like taking a Strong Bad quote (In this case "PURPLE BOXING GLOVES?! Did you do any fact-checking before you turned this in?" from New Boots), and modify it to the style of revert. If I came off as too harsh (which in restrospect, I admit to doing) I'm sorry. You don't "get in the way" as you put it, I just fail to recognise when I can use heavy sarcasm and when I can use light sarcasm. --videlectrix.pngENUSY discussionitem_icon.gif user.gifmail_icon.gif, 18:14, 6 September 2005 (BST)

Email icon

Looks good on IE here. What do you think about shortening "Contributions" a little? — It's dot com 02:05, 18 Aug 2005 (UTC)

That's an idea if been thinking about for a while. I'll shorten it to just "Contribs", then I'll try and find an icon. Maybe that little person icon on the top of the page... --videlectrix.pngENUSY discussionitem_icon.gif user.gifmail_icon.gif, 03:07, 18 August 2005 (BST)
Heh heh. I like that. (For anyone looking at the conversation later, currently his sig has a little person for contribs and an envelope for email.) — It's dot com 02:13, 18 Aug 2005 (UTC)
Just so you know, you're contribs icon looks fine on Internet Explorer!--minibaseball.png Bkmlb(talk to me·stuff I did) 02:37, 18 Aug 2005 (UTC)
Hey! What do you think about this icon for your talk icon? Becauce it's so small, you could probably uplaod it on the wiki.--minibaseball.png Bkmlb(talk to me·stuff I did) 02:45, 18 Aug 2005 (UTC)
That could work, but it might be a little big for the sig. Observe the difference in size: sametime.gif user.gif --videlectrix.pngENUSY discussionitem_icon.gif user.gifmail_icon.gif, 03:53, 18 August 2005 (BST)

NOTE: I have found an icon already on the wiki for Talk: discussionitem_icon.gif . However, I can't insert it into my sig due to some sort of problem. Any ideas? An example of what it ends up as is below:

Thank you

Combolations!

Thanks for your terrific edits to the wiki on all the XML and Source... heck, I don't even know what exactly you do sometimes. But you do a dang good job at doing it! Keep it up! You get: An Iron cup... full of Brunswick Stew. —BazookaJoe 03:35, 18 Aug 2005 (UTC)

Thank you. I'd like to thank all the xml files, for giving me something to update. And this computer, for not getting several thousand viruses like the last one did. And the trolls, for giving me something to revert. And my ISP, for not disconnecting me 99% of the time like the last one. And my caffeine induced insomnia, which is not my fault. --videlectrix.pngENUSY discussionitem_icon.gif user.gifmail_icon.gif, 04:41, 18 August 2005 (BST)

Stinkoman 20X6 stuff

Hi there Venusy. I just removed the link from the Stinkoman 20X6 article that went to your user page. If you'd like to take that content and make an article out of it that'd be cool, but we can't have people looking for article content on a user page. Thanks. -- Tom 23:30, 17 Sep 2005 (UTC)

That's OK, I wasn't the one who added that link in the first place. I'll put up a plain text version if I do an article for it. --videlectrix.pngENUSY discussionitem_icon.gif user.gifmail_icon.gif, 10:15, 18 September 2005 (BST)

Quote of the Week

Say, how did you make that QotW image? (trogga)

I edited a copy of weeklies.xml, and put it on a "weeklies" folder on my hard drive.
Then, I just save qod.swf to the directory containing the folder "weeklies".
Finally, I grab a picture of the finished product, and do any image editing necessary, like replacing Strong Bad with Marshmallow's Last Stand era Strong Bad. --videlectrix.pngENUSY discussionitem_icon.gif user.gifmail_icon.gif, 05:50, 25 Septembre 2005 (BST)
Yeah, I love your Quote thingy too... Unfortunately, I tried your instructions, but they don't work for me. (I suspect I don't have the software to run an .swf offline.) But I was wondering if you'd let me just use your quote-box table thing (foregoing the neat picture) on my user page? --DorianGray
Fine by me, I borrowed the coding for that from the table on Quote of the Week. You're welcome to use it if you want. --videlectrix.pngENUSY discussionitem_icon.gif user.gifmail_icon.gif, 18:24, 26 September 2005 (BST)

Ping!

I don't have any software at this PC that will make a PNG, file. I use GIF because that is waht is available. I cannot download programs either. I R F 18:23, 3 November 2005 (UTC)

Sorry. I was just following the image standards which say about the preferred format for images. Oh, and this is unrelated, but why is my talk page suddenly on my watchlist? --videlectrix.pngENUSY discussionitem_icon.gif user.gifmail_icon.gif 18:32, 3 November 2005 (UTC)
There's a bug (at least, I think it's a bug) that automatically puts your talk page on your watchlist whenever it is modified—by someone else or you. Also, you can't get rid of the new messages notice without taking it off your watchlist. — It's dot com 18:48, 3 November 2005 (UTC)
I've found a fix. Untick the box marked "Watch this page" when you make an edit to your talk page, and it will no longer be readded to your watchlist, unless you do it manually. --videlectrix.pngENUSY discussionitem_icon.gif user.gifmail_icon.gif 18:53, 3 November 2005 (UTC)

Fabricated Characters / Nicknames

Okay, point taken on the reversion to the Unseen Characters page. But where do I put stuff like Strong Bad's girlfriend and Camdidate Cory? --Bill 20:36, 29 November 2005 (UTC)

Good point. I'd say the best place is Unseen Characters#Mentioned, as some most of the people there may or may not exist. --videlectrix.pngENUSY discussionitem_icon.gif user.gifmail_icon.gif 20:42, 29 November 2005 (UTC)
