[edit] Prison Without BarsStrong Bad's intro is possibly a reference to Pete Rose's book, "My Prison Without Bars," which was released the week before this email. From: video games Arguments for:
You have to bear in mind the timing of it all. The email's debut was January 12, 2004. Only four days prior to that, My Prison Without Bars was released. It was the hot topic of the weekend. I vividly remember the Monday morning I first saw the email and thinking to myself: Wow, they put a pop-culture reference in there! If I had known of the Wiki's existence at the time, I would have added the fun fact then.

[edit] All my peoples got sent up the riverWhen Strong Bad pours the Cold One on the carpet at the end, it is a reference to ancient libation offerings offered to the gods, only they used to use wine, not Cold Ones (obviously). It may also be a reference to the modern gangsta practice of pouring out a 40-ounce beer "for my dead homies." From: video games Arguments for: Arguments against:
