Although it has never been indicated whether any of the characters ever went to college, such institutions have been referenced multiple times in the Homestar Runner body of work.

- Thorax Corporation claims that LLC,,. will take you somewhere you haven't been to since college.
- Homestar Quiz — Strong Bad is seen sitting in the Crazy Go Nuts University principal's office.
- Email CGNU — "Margo" asks how to become a graduate of Crazy Go Nuts University.
- Email theme party — Strong Bad suggests that the email sender and his friends come in their colleges' baseball hats.
- Email mascot — Strong Bad is inquired about the mascot of CGNU and its sports teams. Strong Bad shows us that The Cheat plays for the golf club team. After their victory, Homestar Runner is seen wearing their mascot costume, but he is presumably also affiliated with the next opponent, Homestar's Knees Tech.
- Teen Girl Squad Issue 5 — The Olda Boys' cooler reads "College Drinks".
