- Pom Pom — In Pom Pom, Too one of the Poms is colored like an ABA basketball. In different town, Strong Bad says "Pom Pom wouldn't change at all / 'cept he'd look like an ABA basketball". In A Decemberween Pageant Pom-Pom is cast as Kobe #1.
- Strong Mad — In Halloween Fairstival, he dresses as Ben Wallace. In A Decemberween Pageant he is cast as Kobe #2.
- Strong Bad — In his character video, one of his accepted forms of payments is "Denver Nuggets." In the email new hands, one of the options for his hands is an ABA basketball. In New Boots, The Cheat draws him dribbling and spinning basketballs. In Strong Bad's autobiography, he supposedly played on a basketball team with "The Deke."
- Coach Z — In the email secret recipes, he doesn't appear to know what a basketball is, referring to one as "a bounce thing". He is also seen with a basketball stuck to his head in candy product.

- The Grape Fairie — In Strongest Man in the World he claims he got the golbol in 1974 from Mookie Wilson. Mookie Wilson was a professional baseball player durring the 1980s and early 1990s best known for playing for the New York Mets, the team referenced in the golbol Easter egg.

- Strong Bad — In the email little questions, he mentions that he hates soccer.
- The Cheat — In the email ghosts, Strong Bad tells the ghost of the Tandy "The Cheat has soccer practice."

- Strong Mad — In The House That Gave Sucky Treats, his costume is William "Refridgerator" Perry, a famous football player from the 1980s.

- Strong Mad, Strong Bad, and Homestar appear in the Superbowl Dealie toon.

- Homestar — Dresses as John McEnroe in 3 Times Halloween Funjob.
- Bubs — Holds a tennis racquet and has a John McEnroe wig on in Senorial Day.
- Strong Bad and Coach Z — Play tennis on the moon in the email flashback.
- Strong Bad — Admits he likes tennis player Martina Navratilova in Decemberween Short Shorts.

- Homestar — Seen running several times, most notably at the beginning of Bug In Mouth Disease.
