Sometimes in the Homestar Runner body of work, a character uses a noun and a verb together in quick succession; in text format, the words are usually connected together with a hyphen.

- Email secret recipes — Coach Z takes Strong Bad's offer for free ice cream because he can't afford the money-cost variety.
- Happy Hallow-Day — Strong Bad says, "What's this crap-take?". Later, in an Easter egg, Homestar compliments Marzipan's "kind-of-a mustache-have" costume.
