Clickable?

Hitting "Tab" on the final screen, I see something highlighted around the "I", but nothing happens when I try to activate it. This isn't the TV show egg. Just a Flash artifact? --Jay (Gobble) 08:53, 7 May 2007 (UTC)

I noticed it too. I think it's just a mistake. Shwoo 08:54, 7 May 2007 (UTC)
There is a button there, but there's no script attached to it. --phlip TC 08:56, 7 May 2007 (UTC)
Why do I have a feeling they're going to add an easter egg later and it's going to involve DNA evidence?--Bobo the King 09:03, 7 May 2007 (UTC)
That wouldn't surprise me much, actually. >_> --Jay (Gobble) 09:07, 7 May 2007 (UTC)
Maybe an easter egg there will talk aabout DNA Evidence. Homestar-Winner (talk) 09:41, 7 May 2007 (UTC)

Done and Done

I just put all the email on all the respective location pages. Just so you know.--Slipstream 09:12, 7 May 2007 (UTC)

Nice work. I've noticed that sometimes this doesn't get done as often as it should, so it's nice when it happens. --DorianGray 09:09, 7 May 2007 (UTC)

Sorry about the lack of user, I logged in now, I just really wanted to do it before anyone else could, I changed my sig on my first message--Slipstream 09:12, 7 May 2007 (UTC)

DNA Evidence

Just one more email until we reach 173 AND this one didn't have any DNA Evidence in it, Whats Up?--Slipstream 09:14, 7 May 2007 (UTC)

Personally, if they had continued the gag after the last reference, I would've been very surprised. Additionally, this might be better on the forum. --DorianGray 09:18, 7 May 2007 (UTC)
And just by the way, 173-171=2, not 1. DeFender1031 15:45, 7 May 2007 (UTC)
Yeah, but we have only one email to go before 173. 171, 172, then 173. ¤ The Dang, Pom Pom, you see that? That's a nice golbol. Talk to me. 19:24, 7 May 2007 (UTC)

You Reek-A Guy

Is it me or does the "You Reek-A" guy on the t-shirt look like John Flansburgh? - SLR

I don't think so. I mean, he's got glasses and dark hair, but that's about the extent of it. EYanyo 14:34, 7 May 2007 (UTC)
Actually, that's what I was thinking... ShiversTheNinja 15:35, 7 May 2007 (UTC)

He's an expoit!

This is at least the third of fourth time that Strong Bad has used that - I don't know what to call it (New York?) - accent. Should it get its own page maybe? And what would such a page be called? EYanyo 14:35, 7 May 2007 (UTC)

Spider-Man 3

This fact was removed, but I really think it's true:

The front page story on Da NewsPapes reads, in part, "Global relations set all types of box office records this weekend. Studio execs were encouraged by the turn-around." This is most likely a reference to Spider-Man 3, which premiered on the weekend before this email was released and broke the records for both the highest single-day and opening weekend box office earnings.

Spider-Man 3 was pretty big news this weekend; I don't think it's a coincidence. Trey56 14:47, 7 May 2007 (UTC)

I still think it could be TTATOT. DeFender1031 15:32, 7 May 2007 (UTC)
What do you think the "that" and the "other thing" are? Trey56 15:41, 7 May 2007 (UTC)
Any other box office hit ever. DeFender1031 15:42, 7 May 2007 (UTC)
Okay, I see. On the other hand, this particular movie uniquely fits the data due to (1) its release time (this very weekend), (2) box office success (best-selling movie ever on opening weekend), (3) the response from studio execs (I even read quotes yesterday from Sony pictures execs in cnn.com's story about this weekend), and (4) the effect that this movie is expected to have on the entire industry ("turn-around"). Yes, there have been previous big box office hits, but I think that the timing and the other connections are too strong to ignore. Trey56 15:50, 7 May 2007 (UTC)

Coke is it

Strong Bad refers to the beverage Coke, but as of right now it's not listed in the real-world references. Is that because it's too obvious? Do we still make that distinction? — It's dot com 15:13, 7 May 2007 (UTC)

For me, it falls into the obvious-enough category; but it wouldn't upset me if somebody thought it was necessary to include in the article. Trey56 15:32, 7 May 2007 (UTC)
Yes, too obvious it is. And sound like yoda just now did i. DeFender1031

Mrs. Hardmaster

I'm a little curious about Mrs. Hardmaster. Strong Bad says he's going to try to get her fired for child abuse, but who is Mrs. Hardmaster being referenced to in the real world?

Uh... probably no one in particular? She's a hard master, hence the name, and the concept of overbearing or even abusive teachers is not something that's only come up just once. --Jay (Gobble) 17:16, 7 May 2007 (UTC)

Senor Cardgage soundalike?

When Strong Bad starts talking in his "forced" manner in the second-to-last paragraph of the email, he sounds a lot like Senor Cardgage. Anyone else pick this up? — Image:kskunk_fstandby.gif KieferSkunk (talk) — 19:28, 7 May 2007 (UTC)

Once again, they're all voiced by the same guy. There's gonna be some overlap. They can ALL be said to sound like each other. DeFender1031 19:29, 7 May 2007 (UTC)
That's not my point. It's patently obvious that Senor Cardgage and Strong Bad are voiced by the same person, and even sound much like each other. My point is that in this specific place, Strong Bad sounds almost EXACTLY like Senor Cardgage, in terms of the way he speaks, his inflection and nasal tone, etc. It sounded almost exactly like Senor Cardgage's appearance in Senor Mortgage. — Image:kskunk_fstandby.gif KieferSkunk (talk) — 19:36, 7 May 2007 (UTC)
Except that he actually speaks in a higher-pitched voice than Cardgage usually does. --Jay (Gobble) 19:52, 7 May 2007 (UTC)
Hence his not sounding exactly like Senor Cardgage. I'm just mentioning that it sounds like he's either imitating or referencing him. Whatever. — Image:kskunk_fstandby.gif KieferSkunk (talk) — 21:43, 7 May 2007 (UTC)

cilantro

How is this worthy of mention?

  • Homestar already has the piece of cilantro in his mouth when he receives the hot dog from Strong Bad. (!-- NOTE: This fact is mentioned here because it is not appropriate to mention this in the transcript (it ruins the joke). Please do not delete it. --)
...and? A reference to Coke is considered to obvious to be included? The joke is that it's been there for two weeks. Of course it is there.

first of all, the note answered your question before you asked it, secondly, everybody knows coke. Not everybody notices that the cilantro was there. DeFender1031 19:39, 7 May 2007 (UTC) :It's TTATOT. It's not TTATOT sorry, but I think not about the Coke refrence. User talk:Sam the Man Sam the Man

Umm, sam, no it's not. DeFender1031 19:48, 7 May 2007 (UTC)
I don't see the point of that fact... Strong Bad's message states that Homestar's had it in his teeth since they ate at that Mexican restaurant two weeks ago. Of *course* he'd have it in his teeth before Strong Bad hands him the hot dog. -YKHi. I'm Ayjo! 19:49, 7 May 2007 (UTC)
I, for one, noticed the cilantro was there my first time watching before Homestar started reading the food items. I wasn't completely sure of what it was until he got partway through reading them, but I noticed it. I don't think we should totally avoid mentioning it in Homestar's first appearance in the transcript because it "ruins the joke" because the cilantro itself is not the joke, and because it's not exactly hidden. --Jay (Gobble) 19:51, 7 May 2007 (UTC)

I reworded the fact. I still don't quite agree that it's remarkable, but I think the reword better expresses what is being remarked upon without having to invisicomment it.

Office Space Reference

"We're going to need you to flush twice." If read correctly, it sounds like something Bill Lumbergh would say from Office Space. "Yeah, I'm going to need you to go ahead and come in tomorrow..."

TTATOT DeFender1031 19:51, 7 May 2007 (UTC)

Not to call you out in the hot-spot, DeFender, but you're marking a LOT of things as TTATOT today. I'm not so sure that every external reference (like to Spiderman 3 and Office Space) should be discounted as TTATOT quite so quickly. Office Space was the first thing I thought of with that note as well, and to my knowledge there are very few pop-culture appearances of that particular phrasing style that aren't parodies of or references to that movie. — Image:kskunk_fstandby.gif KieferSkunk (talk) — 21:46, 7 May 2007 (UTC)

Sbevolution?

the old?
the new?

Methinks Strong Bad's design's changed again. From what I can see, the silver thing's gotten narrower, the shading on his diamond is different, and his head is thinner. Any input? Dr. Clash 20:14, 7 May 2007 (UTC)

No, it's just zoomed out more. That's all it is. Maybe. This may be true, but it might not be. To me it just looks zoomed out, but that's just me. Any other opinions? --Jangles5150 20:19, 7 May 2007 (UTC)
I concur. --CX360 20:24, 7 May 2007 (UTC)
To whom do you concur to (wow, that sounded fancy)? --Jangles5150 20:27, 7 May 2007 (UTC)
I concur to you. The view is zoomed out. --CX360 21:25, 7 May 2007 (UTC)

Actually, if you have Firefox, open candy product and underlings in 2 tabs, pause at the newspape parts, and flip between them. Now that I do that, Strong Bad's eyes have gotten beadier and the black of his mask is darker. The shading diff is unmistakable, and the silver thing is definitely smaller Dr. Clash 20:30, 7 May 2007 (UTC)

Or if you have Internet Explorer 7, that has tabbed browsing. But I think his mouth has gottten smaller. The shading on the top right part of his mask has changed, too. I don't think his eyes have changed, though. --Jangles5150 20:39, 7 May 2007 (UTC)
Y'know, he does look different now that you mention it. Not quite so broad, somehow. Interesting. -- Nevadie 20:51, 7 May 2007 (UTC)
