Seeing as we have little to no information on Jim and Rosy Chapman, I propose we delete this article. They do not seem to contribute significantly to the website and frankly, how important is it to give every person related to TBC their own article? – The Chort 16:18, 13 August 2008 (UTC)

While I'm not up for us having articles about every relative, friend or pet of TBC, I do think anyone with an appearance in their work, no matter how small, should have an article. Who They Is

I think I've got figured out which one is Uncle Jim, but Aunt Rosy (Rosie? Rosey?) I can't be sure.. plus I'm dealing with crummy software. My desktop computer (XP) has beautiful DVD player software, but the computer itself is having issues so I barely ever turn it on.. and my lappy (Vista) has at least three pieces of software that play DVDs and they all suck rocks. I tried to install my beautiful software, but it's not compatible with Vista. Gah. Anyway, what I'm trying to say is it's too much of a pain in the butt for me to go frame-by-frame with the software I have now to really get the best view of these people. Okay, with the help of my dying XP computer, I have found the best freeze frames for each of the following: Strong Dad, The Mother Chaps, Uncle Jim, and Aunt Rosie. The labels are my guesses, and I could be wrong. Anyway, just because I said these are the best freeze frames, doesn't mean they are very good, but here they is! Okay, so I got it wrong. The IP that commented below (whoever he/she is, he/she seems to be located in Georgia) (see #Updated Info from The Chapman's below) says I got Uncle Jim and Strong Dad labeled wrong. I'll upload screenshots to the actual site today or tomorrow or soon, anyway. =] Oh, and at least I spelled Rosie right. Man this page is so out of order now. Rename

If we are going to keep this page and start linking to it, let's figure out the best title for this article. We do not know if Jim's last name is Chapman. Here are the possibilities:

• If Jim is Don's brother, Jim's last name would be Chapman.
• If Jim is Harriet's brother, Jim's last name would NOT be Chapman.
• If Rosie is Don's sister, Jim's last name would NOT be Chapman.
• If Rosie is Harriet's sister, Jim's last name would NOT be Chapman.

Those are the most likely scenarios. Oh, I should also point out that by putting them in the same article, we are making the assumption that Jim and Rosie are married. It's a safe assumption to make, I think, but there are all kinds of combinations of possibilities for aunts and uncles .. I won't list them all, don't worry. =] Anyway, there's also the matter of spelling. As of this edit, Google returns 28,200,000 results for Rosie, 15,400,000 results for Rosy, and 2,980,000 results for Rosey. I should also point out that many of the results for "Rosy" are for the adjective "rosy" (as in "rosy cheeks"). So, this is what I suggest for an article title: Uncle Jim and Aunt Rosie ... it makes the least amount of assumptions, uses the most common spelling, and it's what Matt ultimately calls them in the DVD commentary of Making of Email 100. If are to do one thing about this, it's to be consistent: we need to spell "Rosy" or "Rosie" the same way in the commentary, this article, and any new article that this would be moved to. I believe that Rosie is in fact more common, but we should do our best to be certain. Do the commentary tracks contain their own subtitles? Can we glean the information from there (assuming those weren't guessed either). If we stick with "Rosy" then the new article should be called Uncle Jim and Aunt Rosy instead, though redirects with the alternate spelling(s) wouldn't hurt either. I do agree though that removing the last name assumption would be a better idea. --Stux 21:42, 27 August 2008 (UTC)

My opinion: "Chapman" is speculation, remove from title and article. "Rosie", "Rosy", we don't know so pick one and be consistent. As we are now using "Rosy" we should stick to it unless proof of "Rosie" is uncovered. - Qermaq - (^T/C)  12:12, 28 August 2008 (UTC)

We have an IP saying it's Jim and Rosie Eldridge (see #Updated Info from The Chapman's). Making the assumption that it's true, we could name the article Jim and Rosie Eldridge, or we could still go with Uncle Jim and Aunt Rosie. OptimisticFool 19:13, 5 September 2008 (UTC)

No, For Real: To Be Deleted, Man

Seeing as the above thread has gone off topic, I would like to restate my desire to delete this article. There isn't enough information, or even a picture, for this article to exist. They're mentioned on The Brothers Chaps, that's all we need. – The Chort 19:45, 29 August 2008 (UTC)

As we now have a source for that these people do exist, and have appeared in TBC's work, I'm going to have to disagree and move that we keep this. As a side note, the discussion above didn't really go off-topic, as questions as to the existence of the people are clearly germane to any deletion discussion. The reason for my opposition is because I would like to propose two alternative suggestions first: we could expand the relevant sections of the Contributors article and/or create a new article along the lines of Chapman Family Members or The Chapman Family to cover all the information on some (but not all) of these people. It just doesn't feel right having articles that last just one or two sentences. We usually end up grouping similar items that appear on H*R together on one page, so why not the contributors? – The Chort 12:44, 30 August 2008 (UTC)

I concur with Heimstern on this. There is no pressing need for this article to be merged into another, just named properly. Besides, the templates were renamed a while back to "to be discussed" for the same reason as what's happening here: discussions can always change course and the actions taken are not always the ones requested. Updated Info from The Chapman's

Just wanted to help out. The Jim and Rosie being discussed here are Jim and Rosie Eldridge. Jim Eldridge is the brother of Harriet Chapman (Eldridge). While the Brother's Chaps have many influential and beloved Aunts and Uncles, Jim in particular had influence as a technology visionary, among other things. Matt's first exposure to movie editing was in the early 90's at Uncle Jim's house using his Amiga Video Toaster. PS - The picture reference above has Strong Dad and Uncle Jim incorrect. Uncle Jim is the one with the white hair. Also, no preference on whether to delete or just add to a Chapman Family section, just wanted to make sure the reference point was accurate. Peace...
