Thanks for Welcoming me!

Thanks FireBird for welcoming me to Homestar Runner Wiki. That's all that I have to say. Feel free to delete this if you want, i dont really care. --acekirby13 14:47, 12 Feb 2005 (MST)

No problem! →FireBird

Thank You

Well thanks Firebird, It's compliments like that that make people glad they helped out. Keep up the good work. ⇔Thunderbird⇔ 08:56, 25 Feb 2005 (MST)

You, too. →FireBird

Hi Fire!

Sorry, check the recent changes in the special pages. I beat you to it. Last change of the old server, first change of the new server. I feel so special! ⇔Thunderbird⇔ 20:45, 6 Mar 2005 (MST)

But I was a pretty darn close! Oh well. You have the right to feel special. →FireBird
Btw, since the forum isn't up yet, perhaps you can help me with my... 'Progect'. Any idea how I could get my hands on the AhnbergHand font used on the Teen Girl Squad? It's not on Microsoft word. Could I download it or something?

⇔Thunderbird⇔ 20:52, 6 Mar 2005 (MST)

I'm not sure how. What kind of project is this? →FireBird
Sssssh. A secrety project. I'll let you know when I'm done. Don't worry about it then, I'll ask in the forum when it's up. Thanks anyways.

⇔Thunderbird⇔ 20:55, 6 Mar 2005 (MST)

Ooh. A secret. I'm good with secrety secrets. →FireBird
I'm sure you are... Oh, btw, since we're on the subjects of projects, perhaps you could help me with a not-so-secrety project I'm also trying to do. Do you have any way of getting screen shots off the DVD? (Mainly by having a DVD player built into your comp).

⇔Thunderbird⇔ 21:00, 6 Mar 2005 (MST)

Nope. I have the DVD, but have no DVD player in my computer. (I'm just a big help tonight, aren't I?) →FireBird

Oh you're always a big help... But yea, I got the DVD too, but not on my comp. I'll actually let you in on this project, basically I want screens of the floppy disk containers on the main pages of the DVD for the Floppy Disk Container. If we've got the Puppet Time Floppy Disk, I think CG'd Floppies are just as important. Oh well, FORUM'D!!! (Whenever it decides to come back on that is...) ⇔Thunderbird⇔ 21:09, 6 Mar 2005 (MST)

Why thank-you. →FireBird
Np. ⇔Thunderbird⇔ 21:16, 6 Mar 2005 (MST)
I got a font response in the forum. Come to think of it, why DIDN'T I google it? Oh well. I'll let you know when my project is done. (Ssssh, it's a SECRET). ⇔Thunderbird⇔ 16:54, 7 Mar 2005 (MST)

The Lying Game

Wow, that was fast. Well this is L17's brother, J14. And I allowed my brother to change my userpage, since I don't really use it much. Thunderbird

Ah. Sorry 'bout that. Just thought ol' Thunderbird L17 was creating another page for himself, even though I thought it wasn't like him to do something like that. (Welcome to the wiki, by the way.) →FireBird
Heh heh, I fooled you didn't I? Well I've never been much for lying, so I'll level with you. This is Thunderbird L17. And I do have a J brother, but he would be 20, and he doesn't come to this site. When I first came here I got a bit confused with the create accounts thing, and I accidentally created two. Now there's always this nagging 'Thunderbird', which is kinda nice, since I don't really use the L17 in my sig or anything. If I could take it all back, I would have just gone with 'Thunderbird'. But the fact remains, the user is there. Now the only other option would be to delete the User 'Thunderbird', which I don't really like because that would mean just anybody could come along one day and steal my name! The other thing would be to switch to my other account, which I don't really like either because I like to feel I've made a name for myself which would be partially lost. So do you see my deliema? As I said before, I don't like to just see the account sit there empty. So do you see my quandry? Tell you what, you've got lots of senority on me, plus you're nearly at the Mod point, (you caught it in TWO minutes! That's awsome man!). So what do you think I should do? The ball's in your court. Thunderbird 19:49, 8 Mar 2005 (MST)
If we delete it, then it would be gone and forgoten, and you could keep Thunderbird L17. I find that's the only way out (unless you want it flipped- keep Thunderbird and trash Thunderbird L17.) The ball has been passed back to you. →FireBird
But that leaves the problem of Someone later coming in and taking the plain, origional, Thunderbird, and passing them off as... More Thunderbirdy than me. Any ideas? 70.70.212.72 20:12, 8 Mar 2005 (MST)
That's pretty unlikely... I see only one option which is just sticking with Thunderbird L17 and just deleting User:Thunderbird (or, again, flipped). You're in some pickle. →FireBird
But if it existed for so long with Thunderbird just being dormant, can't we just go back to the way it was? Or have I let the cat out of the bag? And it's not that unlikely, there's already two 'Birds' here. And Thunderbird is a very cool name... (Btw, I didn't offend you or anything by being slightly... untrue earlier, did I?) 70.70.212.72 21:51, 8 Mar 2005 (MST)
I know this- you can only have one user space. If we keep User:Thunderbird and User:Thunderbird L17, then you would have two, even if you do only use User:Thunderbird L17. I think the reason User:Thuderbird was just sitting there is because nobody really new it existed, untill you added that error message.
So, yeah, I think you're going to have to get rid of one or the other. (Oh, and no, I'm not offended.) →FireBird

The Mile Revision

Sorry if you didn't think it was trolling. If you know for sure that the toolbar does what it claims and does not contain adware, then it should remain. If not, it's spam, in my opinion, and this goes for nearly every toolbar except Google's. The user also went on the WikiTroll for the same reason, but obviously that can be removed...

In my opinion, even Google's toolbar is adware. Adverts pay for service, one of those could be infected.
It does not contain adware, and it is not spam. This fun fact is true, I checked it myself. I have removed this IP from the WikiTroll list and added his fun fact back. →FireBird
OK, doubly sorry then! Most of the time people plugging "special animations" you can see with a certain program are spammers. Guess I was too quick to jump to conclusions. Aurora Szalinski 16:33, 8 Mar 2005 (MST)
No problem. Trust me, I've made plenty of mistakes here. →FireBird

Character Popularity

Hey, remember that popularity chart you supported in the main page talk? Well, I went and made one, and I just think you should know that, because if you hadn't said that I should do it, I probably wouldn't have gotten it done.

So anyway, it's in the Interactive section of Fanstuff, if you want to check it out. --Joshua 19:17, 9 Mar 2005 (MST)

Awesome. I'll check it out right now. →FireBird

Questions from stotheb

Um...I'm knew to Wiki, whats a troll?--stotheb 16:22, 13 Mar 2005 (MST)

Fist of all, welcome to the wiki, stotheb!
To answer your question, a troll is a nasty person (usually with no username) who defaces an article or document just for the fun of it- trying to annoy us, I guess. Trolls will get blocked by an admin if they deface documents or articles enough times. →FireBird

To Be Deleted

Wassup? My man, FireBird, I'll fix the name of The Brothers Homes page, but I will ask you not to delete it. Your probably thinking what is this ten-year-old asking from me, well I work for The Brothers Chaps. I tend to put pictures of homestar, pom-pom, and strong bad on my stuff and putting t-shirts on and stuff like that, I was the one who sent the strongbad Email, funny and I know a lot about it I'd be willing to take a quiz rater than deleting that! Please don't delete that! Technochocolate

One, I can't delete it. I'm not a sysop.
Two, I'm having a hard time beliving you work for The Brothers Chaps. Just because you put a character on your personal t-shirt and other things of yours doesn't mean you work for them. Just because you sent in the email funny doesn't mean you work for them. And just because you know a lot about Homestar Runner doesn't mean you work for them. Besides, even if you did, it wouldn't help you in this disagreement- have they told you that Homeschool Winner, Homsar and Homestar Runner are all brothers? Did they tell you to create a wiki page about them and call it "Brothers Homes". I don't think so.
And we're not going to hold a quiz over it, for that would be silly. If we held a quiz over it, we'd probably end up having a quiz for everything that is pending deletion, which would also be silly. But I'm willing to discuss this over at the discussion page of this article. →FireBird

Color Fonts

Hey Fire, my trusted compadre. I have a question/task for you, that I'm hoping you can help me with. Since you came up with the cool sigs idea, perhaps you know how to change the color from something obvious, such as just 'yellow' or 'red'. Basically what I'm looking for is a color for my font, still yellowish, but a bit darker, and therefore more readable. Any ideas? Is there some kinda list of the usable colors or something? Thanks for your help, ⇔Thunderbird⇔ 00:02, 8 Apr 2005 (MDT)

I'm sure you could ask or look around on the MediaWiki Help page or the MediaWiki "User Style" help page. I'll keep looking around for more info, but I'm finding out tons of stuff just reading it! →FireBird
A reply to this comment can be found on Thunderbird's talk page. — It's dot com 17:59, 8 Apr 2005 (MDT)
 • Can you not use HTML Hexidecimal tags? ---erson 00:33, 19 Apr 2005 (UTC)
From what I'm assuming that is, I think so. But I don't really know what that is, so I'm not sure. You should ask someone who is smart (as in, not me). →FireBird
Yes, you can. But they don't work. --Jay 00:44, 19 Apr 2005 (UTC)
Thanks, Jay. They seem to work on It's dot com's signature, as well as one of Thunderbird's Talk Page section. Hmm. →FireBird
Ah, forget it. I accentally made them really dark instead of really light, forgetting which end of the spectrum was which shade. Never mind. --Jay 00:51, 19 Apr 2005 (UTC)
Oh well. →FireBird
It worked on mine. --Posted by -erson 00:56, 19 Apr 2005 (UTC)
That it did! It seems Jay's is working, too. →FireBird

*sigh*

That's not a good commando name.--69.143.244.79 00:14, 19 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Well, I'm FireBird, not Firebert. Oh well. →FireBird
Is that like, a cross between Firefox and Thunderbird? EDSMILDE
I never really intended it to be like that, no. But it does make since. I originally just misheard "Firebert" and called myself "FireBird". →FireBird
So it WAS a bad commando name, basically... EDSMILDE
Yeah, I guess so. I guess I'm just not cut out to have a good commando name. →FireBird
Uhh, FireBird, uhh, I heard about your problem and I think that I can help. This is a tape I made from when I was practicing comando names. Listen to it while you slumber. And tomorrow, you may wake to find that you have a good commando name. Kvb 13:16, 3 May 2005 (UTC)
Sweet! →FireBird

Sysop

Just letting you know, you have been given sysop privileges. If you have any questions, never hesitate to ask. Thanks. -- Tom 00:32, 26 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Awesome. Thanks! →FireBird
HOLY CRAP!!! YOU'VE BEEN SYSOP'D!!! Seriously man, way to go. You totally deserve it. You've ben plugging away at this Wiki pretty much since it's inception, always watching, tireless in your war against the trolls. Way to go man. (Btw... What's it like? Is your computer glowing now, with a firey glow?) ⇔Thunderbird⇔ 00:45, 26 Apr 2005 (UTC)
Thanks, man. I was almost sure that you were gonna' get SYSOP'D! too. Though I'm still figuring everything out, as far as I know the only thing special you can do is block, delete, protect and easily rollback pages. Oh, and yes, my computer is glowing. Oh so very firey. →FireBird
Mine's got lightning sparking out the sides. It's overwhelmed with the power of the Thundery Sysopness. ⇔Thunderbird⇔ 01:28, 26 Apr 2005 (UTC)
Ah, dangit, my name doesn't have a cool elemental power in it, so my computer's just throwing these "J" things all over the place. (Congrats to you!) --Jay 01:32, 26 Apr 2005 (UTC)
We're, like, the Three Sysops- fighting trolls all day, every day! We need our own theme song. :) →FireBird
Hey Jay, you could be like.. Blue Jay! That's a bird. Kinda a weak one, but a bird nonetheless. What you need now, is a cool sig like ours. ⇔Thunderbird⇔ 02:18, 26 Apr 2005 (UTC)
Hey, could work. Lemme test. --Jay (Talk) 02:32, 26 Apr 2005 (UTC)
Yea, kinda sucks that the default color is already blue, eh? Maybe try darker blue than usual? You could even change your name, like I did. I always just leave the L17 out, so you could even call yourself 'BlueJay' or something. I dunno if you want to or not though. But yea, work on it. Distinct sigs rock. ⇔Thunderbird⇔ 03:05, 26 Apr 2005 (UTC)
It's a little lighter than the usual blue, as is. I don't think going the darker direction would help much. I'm usually more of a green person, but with the other avian sysops I took your suggestion. I don't think I'm going to change it to "BlueJay" but I'll tinker some more. --Jay (Talk) 03:09, 26 Apr 2005 (UTC) (Yeah, it's still the same for right now except that I changed the font tags to span tags.)

New Big Project To Break In Our Newfound Sysopness

Fellow Sysops, I call thee! How would you guys like to help on a big new project I came up with? The idea is on the Main Page talk, at the bottom, and has already been approved by Tom. Let me know on my talk page, especially with a good idea for the page title. Thanks. ⇔Thunderbird⇔ 01:58, 26 Apr 2005 (UTC)

What exactly are we trying to do? I didn't really get it. I feel stupid. →FireBird
Did you read my summary at the bottom of the Main Page Talk Page? If you still don't understand, just ask me anything. Don't worry, I feel stupid too usually, with three older siblings... ⇔Thunderbird⇔ 02:16, 26 Apr 2005 (UTC)
Ah. I understand now. I help out. →FireBird
Great! Then let's get this train wreck a rollin'! Tonight! Buuut... What should we name the page? Appearances? Interviews? Once that's figured out, we can start going nuts. ⇔Thunderbird⇔ 02:36, 26 Apr 2005 (UTC)
{lowly-non-sysop pokes her head in} Transcribing interviews is fun, I want to help! (I've got the second R!OT interview half-done on my desktop.) Aurora the Homestar Coder 02:38, 26 Apr 2005 (UTC)
Can I rudely interrupt and give a suggestion as to what the page/category/website/whatever could be called? "Presentations made by The Brothers Chaps," seems spiffy to me. --Gafaddict 02:41, 26 Apr 2005 (UTC)
Great, you guys are totally in. Wow, who'da guessed that Firebird's talk page is the main hangout on the Wiki? Anyways, basically, one of the biggest things is actually finding and collecting all the interviews known about, floating around on the Net and in our Wiki. And then transcribing of course, the Radio ones. But yea, I can just tell this project is gonna be alot of fun. Hopefully It'll also raise awareness of the NYU Talk Transcription need, and get that underway. So is there a decision on the Title yet though? Gafaddict, maybe you're on to something, but I feel it's a bit long. I think it calls for a one, maybe two word title. Perhaps just 'Presentations'? Or... 'TBC Presentations? Any more ideas? I've only got about an hour and a half before I'm going to bed, and I'm hoping to be a big part of getting it underway first. (3:30 am work comes awfully early...) ⇔Thunderbird⇔ 02:47, 26 Apr 2005 (UTC)
Hmm, how about "TBC Appearances"? Aurora the Homestar Coder 02:52, 26 Apr 2005 (UTC)
As for the title, "Public Appearances and Interviews" works for me. I'll start on this tomorrow. I'm gettin' real tired and I'm gonna' hit the sack for now. →FireBird
Oh no! We lost Firebird! I like his idea though. Any yays or nays for 'Public Appearances and Interviews', or even just 'Appearances and Interviews'? Or 'Offical Appearances and Interviews'? Think about it, basically I jus chucked the whole idea out there to see if it would be met with a yay or nay. So far it seems the yays have it, so I'll get back to work on it tomorrow after work. Until then, I'm going to bed. ⇔Thunderbird⇔ 02:57, 26 Apr 2005 (UTC)
Mind if another non-sysop interupts? I find in the sightings pagethatthere is qute a few appearances that are more significant than usual, and should be put on another page with less sightings, so that it can attract more attention. As this would include the interviews, why not something along the lines of "Significant Appearances"? -- Posted by: -erson Talk 12:31, 26 Apr 2005 (UTC)
Alright, I'm saying Appearances and Interviews, or Interviews and Presentations? I'm gonna leave it for another half hour or so, hopefully somebody will make the decision for me. If nobody says anything, I'm going with the latter. But the page is always movable later. ⇔Thunderbird⇔ 00:19, 27 Apr 2005 (UTC)
Okie Dokie, glad the page is finally up and running. Sorry I can't help more right now, but I'm going out with my family. Hopefully I'll be able to help a bit more later. ⇔Thunderbird⇔ 01:50, 27 Apr 2005 (UTC)
Page now moved to: Interviews and Public Appearances, to match the Catagory. ⇔Thunderbird⇔ 05:22, 27 Apr 2005 (UTC)
