Ghostbusters is a 1984 supernatural comedy film. The movie follows three former parapsychology professors (played by Harold Ramis, Dan Aykroyd, and Bill Murray; Ernie Hudson joins in a supporting role) who form a ghost-catching business called "Ghostbusters". The Ghostbusters franchise has spawned several films, animated series, and other works.
The Brothers Chaps occasionally reference Ghostbusters — typically recalling the movie when characters are searching for ghosts, or its cartoon adaptation The Real Ghostbusters with regard to in-universe animated shows.
[edit] References
- Homestarloween Party — Pom Pom dresses up as the Stay-Puft Marshmallow Man, a character from the original movie who frequently reappears in other entries.
- Fluffy Puff Commercial (DVD commentary) — Matt Chapman compares Homestar's dispassionate, monotonous line delivery to that of Ghostbusters secretary Janine Melnitz.
- Email ghosts — Strong Bad and The Cheat wear Ghostbusters II T-shirts while looking for ghosts. In the DVD commentary, Matt remarks that friend Jamey still had a Ghostbusters II shirt (which would've been approximately 15 years old at the time).
- That a Ghost — Before entering The Old Pietimer Place to search for a ghost, Old-Timey Marzipan and The Homestar Runner quote a line from the movie: "Let's split up, we can do more damage that way".
- In Limozeen: "but they're in space!", Mary Palaroncini is drawn as an overweight redhead, similar to how the character Ray Stantz was redesigned for the cartoon The Real Ghostbusters.
- An Important Rap Song — The page title "We now return to the REAL Cheat Commandos!" references The Real Ghostbusters, so named to differentiate itself from the unrelated Ghost Busters show.
- Email business trip — "You— you've earned it" is quoted by Strong Bad when rewarding Homestar Runner. In Ghostbusters, Peter Venkman delivers this line while rewarding Egon Spengler with a Crunch Bar for discovering how to trap ghosts.
