Talk:51

[edit] Totally disjointed
So this page is called "51", but as it stands, it has one instance of 51, one instance of -51, which isn't quite the same thing. and one instance of -1, which is completely not the same thing. There appears to be nothing special about 51. Delete hard and fast. — Defender1031*Talk 19:00, 27 November 2009 (UTC)
- I agree. Although I added an appearence, I don't really see the point of this page. At the very least, we should remove the 1 appearence. That's completly unrelated. We could change it to +/- 51 and keep the three instances. Would three be enough to keep it? Philip8o 19:13, 27 November 2009 (UTC)
- Removing the -1 reference, having only three references to the number is not notable. It is slightly interesting that all of references are for points/score, but that's not enough to hold a page. — Elcool (talk)(contribs) 06:12, 28 November 2009 (UTC)
- Regardless of what happens, remove the -1. It doesn't belong. Without it, we have a somewhat interesting phenomenon of using 51 as a score multiple times. Why that number each time? It's at least mildly interesting that they chose the same number (well, technically the same absolute value, but sometimes positive and sometimes negative) each time. Is it interesting enough for an article? I could be swayed yes or maybe no. I'm not convinced one way or another. Heimstern Läufer 06:17, 28 November 2009 (UTC)
- I think the only way to really resolve it is by having someone with too much time on his hands compile a list of all the numbers mentioned in the whole Homestar opus. Then we can really see if 51 is spacial or not. Regardless of this, number articles remind me color articles we deleted before, like Purple. Both look like amazing coincidences, and when you read the article you are wondering why choose this particular color/number all the time. And then you see the big picture and realize that this is just a drop in the ocean in the number of times other colors/numbers are mentioned and it's not all that spacial. Also, what other numbers of scores did we have? I'm sure that after seeing a list of all scores, 51 will lose it's significance. — Elcool (talk)(contribs) 06:39, 28 November 2009 (UTC)
- I might be the person for that job. I'm not too busy during the summer (in the Northern Hemisphere). The idea of article on 2 and 12 have been stuck in my head for a while now, so doing this would be in my interest. —Soiled Bargains (talk|ctrb) 18:48, 28 November 2009 (UTC)
- Oh. Dear. God. A page dedicated to 1 and 51, both negative, in one place. The lack of connection hurts enough to make my brain hurt. That said, a page on 51 is not even a good idea anyway. 4 references, one not even loosely tied to the page, is often not very good. Three references is minimal, but that only counts towards notable things. Fifty-one if probably a number that suits a bad score well. If there is an overt use of it (such as how they randomly insert gags like paunch into their work once a page has been made for it) this page can be undeleted, but now it is just sad. Even if there were severe grammar fixes and cutting out of bad references, this page still can't last. Finally, I have to say delete. Pardon the long-winded speech. Just trying to justify my vote.--Jellote wuz here 21:06, 28 November 2009 (UTC)

Why, exactly, do we need to discuss this page? It obviously has no use here. 51, -51 and -1 are just numbers. They're not ever mentioned directly and even if they were, it still wouldn't be enough to keep this page. So I see no purpose for the "tbd" template. We shouldn't just put the "delete" template there. I mean we don't even need to discuss whether or not to keep this page. I say we should just get rid of it. - We to discuss every page nominated for deletion. We can't just erase them on the spot like this. For fairness sake we should give the page creator, and everyone else enough time to defend the page. Or maybe (as it happens from time to time) change the scope of the page, merge it, or rename it, so the content won't be completely lost. This is why discussion is important. — Elcool (talk)(contribs) 20:06, 6 December 2009 (UTC)
