Talk:Come On, Fhqwhpods! - A Homestar Runner Podcast

[edit] Really?
I don't mean to be rude, but... do we really need a page for COF-AHRP? I dunno, it's like "Hey guys look! Now here's a page for JIMMY ZENSHINS, Jeffjman's cartoon and youtube channel he got 50 subscribers on that is going to be celebrating 50 subs on saturday make sure to tune in" or "Battle For Dream Island" I know those are fan made and not 'Exactly' homestar runner, but even this feels a bit self-congratulatory even though it was made by not them. And the fact they were in like, 3 or 4 Fan 'Stumes, and the banter is always annoying and nonsensical and very similar to a self-congratulatory wiki page about "Don't let's start: a podcast for they might be giants" which is equally annoying to this podcast in insisting on itself too much. It's just bad and hard to listen to. I hate podcasts. Anyways, I propose a vote. --J∃ffJMan 16:16, 15 April 2022 (UTC)
- Just because you hate podcasts doesn't mean everybody does. The reason this page exists and the Don't Let's Start podcast page on TMBW is so more people can find out about it. Sure this page is about a fan podcast but the H*R fandom is a community. I created the page and I'm not Michael, David or Alexa. Also, they did great things for H*R, they restored thnikkaman.com as the redirect, and made usshomestarrunner.com. I personally vote for KEEP. - HoveringSombrero (talk)

- *I'm now unsure, I am on the discord and I like the people there, so... maybe we keep it?**
- **UPDATE: I have been removed from their discord server for literally no reason and blocked on twitter, again for NO REASON, also I now am back in favor of removing the page due to this. And you might be asking if I did make them have any reason to remove me? Nope! I was cordial, I was willing to give them a chance and now there is no way for me to say to them "Hey guys that was pretty messed up, why'd you do that? That made no sense and I need a reason as to why you did this." or something. --J∃ffJMan

- Both of you make supportable arguments. On one hand, it is a pretty significant fanmade podcast that's done things we already note on the Wiki (usshomestarrunner.com, thnikkaman.com, etc.), but on the other hand, it's a fanwork that hasn't been acknowledged at all by the Brothers Chaps beyond the people from the podcast appearing in a couple of Fan Costumes.
For my vote, I say that this page should be made into a redirect to Links#Other Sites. If it gets mentioned in a toon or @StrongBadActual, we can add a section for it in The Brothers Chaps' Fansite Acknowledgments, but for now, it doesn't really need its own page. — Keegster2 18:52, 15 April 2022 (UTC)- I quote-unquote "vote" (or should I say whatever-the-verb-for-consensus-is) delete. What Keegster said, plus the fact that other notable non-TBC-approved fanstuff has been deleted from the Wiki previously (case in point: Random Crap with Homestar Runner). - KEEP : I really like this podcast. It’s also pretty notable, at least in the H*R fanbase. I wanna be the TMBGLOVER too! 23:59, 21 April 2023 (UTC)

[edit] Ehhhh
I'm not really sure if it's fair to include this fan podcast over any other fanwork as their own pages. Nothing against the podcast itself (this isn't the place for arguments like that), but since it's not directly related to the Brothers Chaps it should more be a section on fansites (which I'm pretty sure already exists). - I've always thought that this podcast should get an article at some point, but I don't know if now's the time quite yet. On the one hand, I'd say if there was one fan work deserving of its own page, it would definitely be this one. It's arguably the most popular and prolific Homestar Runner fan content out there (having 160+ high-quality episodes featuring a wide variety of notable guest appearances), and has even had some impact on Homestar content and the wiki, where it's mentioned on multiple pages (all of which are helpfully compiled on this article). On the other hand, their contributions so far have been fairly minor in the grand scheme of things. I definitely think this information could be documented somewhere — perhaps on Sightings?

- As someone who tends against adding new pages I agree that "Sightings" might be a good compromise for now. The first several points are not really page-qualifyingly notable or significant - dozens (if not hundreds) of fans have been featured on H'ween costumes and had SB reply to their tweets, and a couple auto-redirect domain names aren't really on the level of full fansites (which also don't have their own articles here); compare how Alex Hirsch's interaction with @StrongBadActual is notable only because he's also appeared in an actual toon. The P&S interview is the most relevant but I'm not sure that requires anything more than a link to the episode in the relevant page's "External Links".
- It is interesting to note as well that there do not appear to be any current wiki pages on fansites or fan content that's not directly hosted or acknowledged by TBC so there may not be a strict criteria to work from here. -- Bleu Ninja

- However, I have slightly changed my tune, I think we should keep, but treat it like how the TMBW treats Don't Let's Start: A podcast about TMBG, see that as you may --J∃ffJMan

[edit] A wiki veteran admin, popping in with this important message
I really like this podcast and listen to every episode. Having said that, It's fanwork. Here's the related quote from HRWiki:Deletion Policy (emphasis mine):
Generally articles may be immediately deleted when they are either
- Pages created just to vandalize or disrupt
- Patent nonsense (total gibberish)
- Pages clearly unrelated to the Homestar Runner body of work
- Unused duplicate images
- Fanstuff
If this was anything else, this page would have gotten a speedy delete. I'm not got going to be the one pushing the button, only because I've been away for so long, but I'm guessing some other admin is going to do this soonish. BTW, if the podcast ever officially cross-over to the official body-of-work, it's pretty easy for an admin to restore the page content, so the work put into it is never truly lost. [edit] Defunct Podcast
From what I've seen, this podcast has not had episodes since december. to be fair, homestar hasn't been updated MAJORLY since then, but still, I think it's safe to DELETE because the podcast barely exists anymore. ----J∃ffJMan 15:57, 13 April 2023 (UTC)
- Their Twitter is still fairly active. They've just been busy with personal biz. I think Michael lost his job, and he got another one but he's been focusing on his job instead of the podcast. I dunno but they haven't just gone AWOL. Trust me, I've been listening to Fhqwhpods since March of 2021. They've been on hiatus before. In fact, just before the December batch of episodes, they were on another annoyingly long hiatus. I still vote to KEEP this page. — HoveringSombrero (talk)
