[edit] Sounds Like...

While this was half-jokingly suggested elsewhere, I'm not sure about the usefulness of this page. It would seem like a candidate for a lot of fighting and edit wars. Also, what is the point of documenting the similarity of voices done by one person? wbwolf (t | ed) 02:01, 16 June 2009 (UTC)

I don't support this page. It's much too subjective, and besides, I personally disagree that these characters sound alike enough to be included even if there were such a page. -128.103.10.135 02:31, 16 June 2009 (UTC)
I, too, think this page is not useful. --Senorial Jay (Convolutions) 03:10, 16 June 2009 (UTC)
The subjectivity of this page renders it pretty much useless in terms of documenting anything effectively. — Defender1031*Talk 03:15, 16 June 2009 (UTC)

I don't think this was suggested half-jokingly (see here). However, my opinion on the subject hasn't changed.. wbwolf pretty much summed up what I said before and more. OptimisticFool 05:07, 16 June 2009 (UTC)

I agree completely with Wbwolf. Loafing 06:23, 16 June 2009 (UTC)
And I agree completely with Loafing to agree completely with Wbwolf. Delete. The Chort 18:57, 16 June 2009 (UTC)

I strongly support developing this page before we try to decide whether it's useful. There have been many instances where facts about similar voices have been removed because "it's one guy who does all the voices", enough I think to give this page a shot (just like how we don't document reused sound effects in individual article, but there is still a place for such information on the Sound Effects page). — It's dot com 19:13, 16 June 2009 (UTC)

The difference in these cases is that for the sound effects page, there is, from what I understand, a single sound file which gets reused, and therefore it can be definitively determined that the sounds are the same. Since, for sound-alike characters, the situation is completely different, it would boil down to a judgement call for similarity, which will by nature be, again, subjective. -132.183.138.157 19:46, 16 June 2009 (UTC)
A holy crap deleted!. I saw the converstion that started this on Talk:The Topplegangers and I knew it would end up like this. Once again deleted. I am usually a keep guy, but this needs deletion! --Jellote wuz here 20:09, 16 June 2009 (UTC)

Really, I don't really see anything wrong about this page right now. It's not like saying Bubs and The Blacksmith sound the same; other than the first example on the page, I have gotten the comparisons from other people on the forum, and I agree with them. You guys say this will stir up debate, but the only debate it has stirred up is about whether or not it will stir up debate. I say give it time. (...Also I worked hard on this and don't want to see it get deleted) Monkeytender 20:20, 16 June 2009 (UTC)

All, right, fine, controversy: I do not think Rumble Red sounds enough like the Cleric to note, nor A. Chimendez and Arturo. There. Controversy. It's subjective. So anyway, Deleted, please. --Senorial Jay (Convolutions) 20:48, 16 June 2009 (UTC)
Indeed, none of the alleged "sound-alikes" sound alike! They are similar at best, but are distinct from eachother. It is all because of Matt's vocal limits. Matt!--Jellote wuz here 20:57, 16 June 2009 (UTC), again.
Jay, it's weird how this is the first time you have brought this up, considering that it is mentioned in both The Cleric and Arturo's pages.
And can't everyone stop shouting for this to be deleted? It might get the Talk Page reset. Monkeytender 21:48, 16 June 2009 (UTC)
Firstly, I can't speak for jay, but i know that I agree with him and the only reason i never mentioned is because i never noticed that it said that on the pages you mentioned. Secondly, no one is shouting for this to be deleted, this is a normal page discussion. Thirdly, if by "It might get the Talk Page reset." you mean that someone is going to remove all of the opinions stated thusfar and we'll start again with a blank talk page, well, that's just wrong and the very notion is silly. We only delete talk pages under very specific circumstances, and a discussion with mostly opinions for delete is NEVER one of them. — Defender1031*Talk 22:41, 16 June 2009 (UTC)
Sorry, I just took all of the bolded "Deleted!"s as shouting. And with the other stuff, thanks for telling me. I'm still kind of new to this wiki stuff. The more you know! Monkeytender 22:54, 16 June 2009 (UTC)
People tend to bold the conclusion of their opinions in discussions such as these to make them more noticeable to people who just want to skim. It's not shouting, and it's done all the time. — Defender1031*Talk 22:56, 16 June 2009 (UTC)
I can speak for Jay, and like DeFender states, no, I didn't know that the voice similarities (which I really don't believe are that close) were mentioned on those pages. --Senorial Jay (Convolutions) 23:46, 16 June 2009 (UTC)
Interesting. A-KEEP! But you can delete it, because the table part of it is saved on my computer. --FangoriouslyFotoshopStar.png 05:02, 17 June 2009 (UTC)
I really have to agree with Jay and wbwolf here. The content of this page just reeks of personal opinion, and would be subject to edit wars. Sound Effects is a different situation entirely; that's a list of toons that contain *identical* sound effects, largely created (I would assume) so people would stop including ever-growing lists of "The sound effect for this was previously used in this toon, that toon, and this other toon" in "Inside References" sections. In other words, it documents irrefutable facts, unlike the subjective nature of this page. (I'm with Jay, for the record; I don't really think Chimendez and Arturo sound *that* much alike, nor do I think Reynold and Strong Sad do, either.) I don't really see a great need to document a few random, unrelated instances of characters that *kinda* sound alike. It *is*, after all, all done by one person... and you really gotta hand it to Matt. With the sheer number of characters on the site, it's utterly amazing that there're so few that even *remotely* sound similar. All said, though... Delete. -YKHi. I'm Ayjo! 06:26, 17 June 2009 (UTC)
You know, I think a discussion of which characters sound similar would be great on the forum, rather than on the wiki. There, people can discuss their opinions on what they think of the characters and website, and maybe have a laugh or two about it. The wiki is just here to record facts, not subjective opinions. – The Chort 15:42, 17 June 2009 (UTC)
This page looks like it would lend itself to many arguments over "who sounds/doesn't sound like who", and I do not really see the value of the page. El Deleto Grande! Sbmaniac 20:39, 18 June 2009 (UTC)
We have a few research articles, so this article wouldn't be completely out of place. I'd really like to see this one succeed, too, but I concede that it's too impractical to be done right, at least in its current, haphazard state. Maybe someday someone could come up with a plan to make it work, but for now I guess it should be deleted. — It's dot com 18:05, 19 June 2009 (UTC)
I say D'lete. Though the list itself is a nice idea, the actual list itself is just too short, and "thrown together" to really be a quality list...It seems a bit too "fanny" for a wiki... Discopwahty1975 17:57, 3 August 2009 (UTC)

Slight rebump: reviewing the arguments, this looks like the consensus is to delete. Any last words on this subject, y'all? wbwolf (t | ed) 02:52, 10 November 2009 (UTC)
