DorianGray raises a good point. Do we need a filmography for this organization (especially since it's largely redundant of The Proud Anselmo). Since we've been told that the primary flight engineer apparently spells his name "T'daveral" and not Ted Averill, there's some disagreements going on. On the one hand, we've been using the spelling "Ted Averill" for a long time. On the other hand, it's not officially written down anywhere. On the third hand, I'm leaning toward the opinion that the new spelling is not necessarily a reliable source, and that The Brothers Chaps are just being silly to see how we might react to it. - Since it's unclear whether his name was always T'daveral, or it was a joke made up for this toon, let's look at both possibilities:
- Since his debut (and especially in Career Day), his name has always sounded closer to a single word, like "Te-DA-veral". It's pronounced like a last name rather than a full name, which makes sense given the context; he's addressed as Flight Engineer T'daveral, like you might refer to a physician as Doctor Smith. In my opinion, the name Ted Averill seems unusually normal for a throwaway Homestar Runner character. The Brothers Chaps like to inject humor into the names of such characters — Sharpdene, Teeg Dougland, Lan Handermannek — these names are funny because they're made up, yet they still have a sound reminiscent of naming conventions, if that makes sense.
- If the new spelling is a joke, it's still the closest thing we have to an official spelling. I don't feel like the Brothers Chaps particularly care which jokes are canon, and would have no qualms about fully renaming the character for the sake of a one-off joke. It doesn't have much of an effect on canon, considering T'daveral himself barely exists in canon.
- Determining whether it's a joke or not feels a bit speculative to me, especially since the new name seems like the best option regardless.

- Sorry to derail this slightly, but I am wondering why does this character not have a page? He already has 3 appearances (even though the appearance count doesn't matter as much in this case) and he's got several pictures. As for the name itself, I had the same concern as 68.37.43.131 but I went back and watched the other toons but there is no official spelling in them. So, going off User:Gfdgsgxgzgdrc's line of thought, this is the closest thing we have to an official spelling. --Stux 07:49, 21 November 2022 (UTC)
