It's a little early to decide this, since only three videos have been released with fake thumbnails, but if more videos have reused ones it'll probably be redundant to just keep uploading images of all nine at once and fill the table with "previously shown frame" comments.
Instead, what if we uploaded each thumbnail as its own image and displayed all of the thumbnails in a three-column vertical table? The first column would be each thumbnail, the second column would be a description of the thumbnail and any trivia or remarks, and the third column would be the toon it was introduced in.

So, for example,

Once you get to sbemail206, there is only one entry for that toon in the table. Then, on the page for the toon itself, we could just put a 3x3 table of images that includes all the thumbnails at the end of the video, with a link to this page for more details.

Oooh. Tough call. I'm leaning towards the thumbnails themselves. Each toon's page can list what its own thumbnails are. In the other case, imagine if twenty videos were uploaded and they all had the same thumbnails but each in a different order. It would no longer make sense to upload twenty images because they were all the same nine thumbnails. For comparison (and there's very little to compare it with on Homestar Runner), would we upload a new image for every Main Page each time the "what's new" button changed or a new Sketchbook was added? -- ■■   PURPLE  WRENCH   ■■ 16:40, 5 April 2015 (UTC)

I mean, that's okay if we're going to list every video it appeared in, but that could be exhaustive. "Introduced in" means only the first one. Hi Purple Wrench, I actually like where you're taking this proposal of focusing on each preview individually. To that end I have a few remarks:

• Since there is precedent that frames can be related, I propose that related frames be listed next to each other
• Sorting: in what order are we going to present these frames? Although we can make the table sortable, we still should figure out how to sort these (if at all).
• "Introduced In" vs. "Appears as" I see the benefit in both (keeping track of first appearance vs. all apperances) I can't make up my mind at this time.
• My biggest concern is that of unnecessarily removing information: currently we not only have individual frame information but we have information of the layout of the frames as a whole. I do not think it would be appropriate to limit the "whole frame" information to the individual toons, i think that it would be good if this page would document *both* kinds of information: individual frames at the beginning of the page, and toon/layout information near the bottom (with simple links to the individual entries at the top using anchor links). This might also reduce the need for an "Appears in" column.
• After the page format is settled, we should remove some of the redundant information on the toon pages and simply link to this page.

[edit] Plushie Strong Bad

You know, I always thought it odd that the wide shot Strong Bad from Dangeresque: Puppet Squad was identified as the figurine considering it doesn't look like it. That IP address may have a point; from what I can see the Strong Bad seen in some shots in the Dangeresque toon looks more like the plushie than the figurine. I'm convinced. You can tell by the raised hand. It's too lumpy to be the figurine. (Also note that my revert was not necessarily that I didn't think it was true as much as I couldn't tell for sure and it had not been conclusively proven or even discussed anywhere.) Whenever I watch a video on YouTube, the screen that is displayed before the user starts the video is often a screenshot that doesn't actually appear in the cartoon itself. Should we document those, too? -- 68.37.43.131 00:43, 2 April 2020 (UTC)

You mean like the thumbnail of Trogdor!! The Board Game Playthrough? That's the only thumbnail I could find on the channel (from a brief glance) that doesn't show up in the actual video, as far as I'm aware. Gfdgsgxgzgdrc 06:44, 2 April 2020 (UTC)

Admittedly I don't feel super strongly on this issue, but the number of toons that use fake autoplay images outnumber those that use related video thumbnails. Maybe we resolve this with a more generic term that can apply to both Related Video Thumbnails and Autoplay Images... something like "YouTube False End Screens". Ideally the title should apply to all the content on the page. -- Bleu Ninja 18:46, 24 September 2022 (UTC)

TMBGLOVER, I don't think the original "Related Video" thumbnails can be called "False Autoplay" because back then when they were around things behaved differently in Youtube. It's been a while so I'm fuzzy about details, but videos were once expected to stop playing and not do anything else after that unless you were watching a playlist. Now that youtube behaves differently editors now arrange the end of their videos differently. Of course fads also change but the intent behind the different kinds of end screens is sufficiently distinct to warrant different names. I think Bleu Ninja's approach of calling it "YouTube False End Screens" might be the best option. --Stux 02:41, 25 September 2022 (UTC)
