[edit] Girls' names

"*The friends refered to in the email are Virginia Quarles, Joy Phillips, Kristen Schaeffer, and Jennifer Skates, all of Kingsport, Tennessee."

Is this true?--Hysterical Woman 18:25, 12 Nov 2004 (MST)

Yeah, I'd like some confirmation. I've removed the text from the page. -- Tom 19:14, 12 Nov 2004 (MST)

There's no way I can really confirm that, except to say that I know the girl who sent the email. But honestly, I don't care if that information is on the page or not.

does the state of joy look like an upside down jabba the hut to anyone else?

[edit] Why is there a curse word on the article page?

I saw the word 'assh*le' in the article page. Shouldn't that be taken off of it? I thought this was a family page.

-Bri

The general rule is that if it's on the website, it's okay. And it's on the website. Look for yourself in the easter egg. Yeah, I know they censored the word out of the DVD version, but that's viewable by more people. And since this is a wiki whose purpose is to inform, it wouldn't make sense to remove true information.

They swear when?! Who?!

At the very least there should be a warning for those who don't expect to find something like this. The fact that TBC removed it from the DVD is somewhat indicative that they didn't intend to include that. The fact that they haven't fixed the original .SWF confuses me a little (since it would serve as some sort of contraindication to my theory). --Stux 04:01, 1 September 2008 (UTC)
All a warning would do would be to draw attention to itself. Like, don't read my signature right here: It's dot com 05:09, 1 September 2008 (UTC)
And then they'd be disappointed in the end. So, no point. JCM 14:15, 1 September 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Possible Ref?

Teen Girl Squad reminds me of "Girl Squad" from the good old days of Dexter's Lab on Cartoon Network (little r symbol thing) where Dee Dee and her friends committed various crimes trying to stop "criminals"

  • It's highly doubtful but I suppose anythings possible. -PAUAU

[edit] Closed STUFF

[edit] CORRECTIONED (Accepted with revisions)

the line "In the United States alone, someone checks their email every three seconds. This is one of them" is more likely a reference to public servce anousments like "In the United States alone, someone dies from a brain tumor every 20 minutes." or "in the United States alone, someone suffers a heart attack every 20 seconds" or "in the United States alone, someone starts a new home-based business approximately every 10 seconds." than a reference to the closing lines of The Naked City ("There are eight million stories in the naked city. This has been one of them.") as listed on the page for comic

  • Revise Too many examples. maybe just the first example. everything after "brain tumor every 20 minutes" can be discarded. --user: Lappy 486 May 2 9:25
    • Second It is too long, but does make sense. Ramrod 02:42, 4 May 2005 (UTC)
  • ok fixed Ganome 03:21, 4 May 2005 (UTC)
    • Proposed Revision: the line "In the United States alone, someone checks their email every three seconds. This is one of them" is more likely a reference to public servce anousments like "In the United States alone, someone dies from a brain tumor every 20 minutes." than a reference to the closing lines of The Naked City ("There are eight million stories in the naked city. This has been one of them.") as listed on the page for comic
  • I'm...hesitant Then why the use of "This is one of them" if its not a Naked City reference? Donny vs Universe
  • Decline. This is a Naked City reference! -- 13:33, 4 May 2005 (UTC)
  • Too long, Clanky. Toooo longgg. Seriously, cut out like 5 lines of this fun fact. One example should do. Rudeboy87 14:59, 4 May 2005 (UTC)
  • Revise: The line "In the United States alone, someone checks their email every three seconds. This is one of them" is a reference to statistics such as "In the United States Alone, a lame fun fact is written every 8 seconds." as well as to the famous line from The Naked City, "There are eight million stories in the Naked City. This has been one of them." PolarBoy 16:30, 4 May 2005 (UTC)
  • ACCEPT and delete Naked City Fun fact and then once that happens rewrite it so it's a fact and not a correction.TK600 20:15, 6 May 2005 (UTC)
  • Revise. Should go something like this: --Gafaddict 04:28, 7 May 2005 (UTC)
The line "In the United States alone, someone checks their email every
three seconds. This is one of them," is a parody of public service
announcements, which have similar lines (such as, "In the United States
alone, someone dies from a brain tumor every 20 minutes.")
  • Revise Possibly:
The line "In the United States alone, someone checks their email
every three seconds" is a reference to public service announcements
like "In the United States alone, someone dies from a brain tumor
every 20 minutes.
I know it's pretty similar to the last one, but I took out some of the words. For this Fun Fact I think that even a couple less words will be better. - AtionSong May 8 , 2005
  • Major Decline and accept Naked City fun fact. - Dingell
    • Second The "this is one of them" part is what determines it for me. unknownwarrior33 18:18, 15 May 2005 (UTC)
  • ACCEPT it is not a naked city reference it is a publicservece anocement refrens like i saw one the other day that was for drunk driving that said THIS IS ONE OF THEM then it talk about the acsident! that NC quote is barely a reference it never says this IS one of them it say this HAD TO BE one of them and it never says a time thing! Ganome 21:53, 16 May 2005 (UTC)
  • Only accept Naked City part. It's a famous line. Strong Bad inflects it in the same way. I can't believe everyone thinks that this has to do with PSA's. Aurora the Homestar Coder 07:25, 20 May 2005 (UTC)
  • Revise and Accept. Include both. — It's dot com 17:29, 11 Jun 2005 (UTC)

So, part of this fact was apparently accepted? I can't tell which part, though. And none of it seems to appear on the page, currently. -128.103.10.17 19:46, 9 December 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Jumping Jack Contest Music

Is it just me or is the music that plays when Strong Bad starts drawing the comic the A Jumping Jack Contest theme? I'll watch both toons to see - Volbeat A The Cheat 09:40, 1 December 2005 (UTC)

No, I just checked, but it is similar to it - Volbeat A The Cheat 09:59, 1 December 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Easter Egg Conversation

Does anyone else think that the conversation is probably between two clerks rather than a clerk and a customer? I kind of thought that that part was meant to homage High Fidelity, and if that were the case, it would most likely be between two clerks. — 24.130.171.42 (Talk | contribs) 19:23, 4 April 2006 (UTC) (left unsigned)

You know, that is a good question. How do we know that the conversation is between a Clerk and a Customer? In fact, I think who says who should be flipped around, and even then how do we know they're customer and clerk? If it is said by The Brothers Chaps that it's supposed to be that way, someone please cite it. --75.5.176.233 02:20, 8 December 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Kristina

We know that Kristina is so-and-so, so i think we should put something in the article on that. Mario2.PNG Super Martyo boing!

We're one step ahead of you, Martyo. It's already mentioned on So and So. – The Chort 17:56, 22 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Use of coverscontent?

Since the article does mention "You Stupid Assholes" in Real-World References, shouldn't it have {{coverscontent}} in the article? --75.5.176.233 02:12, 8 December 2008 (UTC)

No, I don't think we should use that template anywhere on the site, as I explain here. — It's dot com 03:36, 9 December 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Rally's and Checkers

Accorfing to the article -"Checkers, Rally's, and Sonic are all fast food chains that specialize in drive-in style dining. Checkers and Rally's are part of the same company after both chains merged operations in 1999, although the combined company continues to use both names."

is this still true? all the Rally's in my area have become checkers, I just want to know if it's still like this before I remove it (which I likely wont) —TheMcArby! 21:54, 9 March 2010 (UTC)
