[edit] Summaries

Maybe you could still ease up on people a bit with your summaries...things like "Holy crap, dude. Tha is about the worst reference to anything I've ever seen being added to a page. Wow. Just, wow." probably aren't encouraging them to be active members in the community. Either say something nice or don't say anything at all. DevonM(talk·cont-ribs) 20:43, 9 March 2009 (UTC)

We're not affiliated with Wikipedia, but a lot of what they have to say about treating users applies here too. Please see their essays on assuming good faith, civility, and being nice to newcomers. Thanks. — It's dot com 22:23, 9 March 2009 (UTC)

[edit] If it isn't broken, don't fix it

Hello Michael. I realize you're trying to improve articles, but several times recently you have made edits to pages in which you changed something that had been a certain way for a long time and replaced it with something incorrect. If you're not sure why something is the way it is, it's best to just leave it alone or ask somebody first rather than blindly making inappropriate changes. Thanks. — It's dot com 21:34, 9 March 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Sig Color Change (Again)

I want my sig to be green colored like your's for saint patty's day. Including the talk and Contribs thing. Much Appreciated!-Record307 Talk/Contribs 23:00, 16 March 2009 (UTC)

I'm really sorry, but my username has been resrticted from editing user namespaces by the admin and supreme god It's dot com. I'm afraid you'll have to ask someone else. MichaelXX2 mail_icon.gif link_icon.gif 23:23, 16 March 2009 (UTC)
I can make your sig one solid color, but do you want it to be multiple shades of green? If so, I can't help you with that. Homestar-Winner (talk) 23:25, 16 March 2009 (UTC)
Oh Sorry. Yeah Homestar-Winner, I want multiple shades just like my current one, but green.-Record307 Talk/Contribs 23:38, 16 March 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Edit summary again

Re: [1]: Seeing that you've been informed several times not to upload over an image if you change its content, I'd say DeFender was being perfectly reasonable, and that your edit summary was exceedingly rude and completely out of line. Don't do it again. Heimstern Läufer 07:54, 19 March 2009 (UTC)

[edit] If you don't know something, then don't answer the question

I can't quite fathom why you would tell someone something that was completely untrue, and then insult them for even asking. Please do some research before answering a question like that, or stay off those kinds of pages. Thanks. — It's dot com 15:57, 19 March 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Image summary cleanup

Hey there, I noticed you started doing some summary cleanup. I'm impressed, you seem to understand what the project is about, and you're doing very well. Just a reminder, I noticed that in a couple of places you forgot to add headers, or parentheses around "from Toon" or whatever minor things, so if you could go back and check those things, I'd appreciate it. Also, after you've done a second check on them and it all looks good, feel free to mark them as done on my cleanup sheet (ask me for help if you don't get how, the template is kinda tricky). I'm glad you found something useful that you're good at that will really help the wiki, so I just wanted to say "thank you" and keep up the good work! — Defender1031*Talk 23:04, 22 March 2009 (UTC)

Thank you so much for the thanks. I would use the template for marking it as done, but It's dot com restricted my IP address from editing user namespaces. MichaelXX2 mail_icon.gif link_icon.gif 23:06, 22 March 2009 (UTC)
Hey Michael. I moved all the image summary cleanup pages into the project namespace so you can edit them. See HRWiki:Image summary cleanup, etc. You're doing a good job. A quick note though: Don't forget to write your edit summaries so that they make sense in the page history, not recent changes. Keep on tranglin'. — It's dot com 23:46, 22 March 2009 (UTC)
Thanks, Dot com! MichaelXX2 mail_icon.gif link_icon.gif 23:51, 22 March 2009 (UTC)
I had forgotten about this when i wrote my first comment here. Just to be clear, the things to watch out for are listed on the project's page, so if you check each item on each image you clean up, we'll get those images cleaned up faster than you can say "(insert entire works of shakespeare here)" (yes, i know it's long, but there's a fweakin' lot of images!) Keep on trangling. — Defender1031*Talk 00:15, 23 March 2009 (UTC)
Hey, would you mind coming to IRC, i want to talk to you? — Defender1031*Talk 02:18, 23 March 2009 (UTC)
Sure. I'll be right on. MichaelXX2 mail_icon.gif link_icon.gif 02:18, 23 March 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Where U Goin' 2? Visuals

I haven't had a chance to look it over too closely, but at first glance it looks a-purty good. Nice work. — It's dot com 05:52, 20 April 2009 (UTC)

Your welcome. It's almost one o'clock in the morning here, and I was full of energy and bored and I wanted to tackle a big project. It seemed perfect. MichaelXX2 mail_icon.gif link_icon.gif 05:55, 20 April 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Your signature

Can you reply to my current predicament? ColdReactive

Do the 4 tildes again. I want to see it again. MichaelXX2 mail_icon.gif link_icon.gif 04:23, 22 April 2009 (UTC)
Here it is. ColdReactive 04:31, 22 April 2009 (UTC)
After tests, it has shown this:
<noinclude> {| border=1 cellspacing=0 cellpadding=2 style="border-collapse:collapse" |- bgcolor=#eeeeee ! Day !! Sig |- | Earth Day || ColdReactive |- | Normal || ColdReactive |- | Current || </noinclude> ColdReactive <noinclude> |} </noinclude>

Simply change the page slightly to this:

<noinclude> {| border=1 cellspacing=0 cellpadding=2 style="border-collapse:collapse" |- bgcolor=#eeeeee ! Day !! Sig |- | Earth Day || ColdReactive |- | Normal || ColdReactive |- | Current || </noinclude> ColdReactive<noinclude> |} </noinclude>

Easy as pie, just copy/paste the second one. MichaelXX2 mail_icon.gif link_icon.gif 04:33, 22 April 2009 (UTC)

Um, okay no. Just remove the underscore between User_Talk and decapitalize User talk and remove the space between the and <noinclude> MichaelXX2 mail_icon.gif link_icon.gif 04:35, 22 April 2009 (UTC)
Uh, okay? It works now though. ColdReactive 04:40, 22 April 2009 (UTC)
Sorry for the confusing stuff with the blockquote. Just ignore that. You sig looks great, next to the time and date and everything. MichaelXX2 mail_icon.gif link_icon.gif 04:41, 22 April 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Imitating rollback

The rollback wording ("Reverted edits by X; changed back to last version by Y") should not be used for good-faith edits. Wikipedia's advice is appropriate here: "Rolling back a good-faith edit, without explanation, may be misinterpreted as 'I think your edit was no better than vandalism and reverting it doesn't need an explanation'." If you're going to imitate rollback when you revert an edit, please do so only in cases of blatant vandalism (not when there is any doubt). Thanks. — It's dot com 02:59, 1 May 2009 (UTC)

[edit] user page

Why did you remove everything? Your user page was awesome. I suggest putting that announcement at the top in bold, and leaving a few lines before the good stuff is back. Just a suggestion. OpenSourceGreg 06:58, 23 May 2009 (UTC)

You know what? I think I'm calling that off. I'm back again! MichaelXX2 mail_icon.gif link_icon.gif 14:00, 23 May 2009 (UTC)
You know, the second "v" in "rv/v" stands for "vandalism". When you are reverting anything that is not vandalism, you can just put "rv" in your edit summary. Homestar-Winner (talk) 14:11, 23 May 2009 (UTC)
I know that, but me blanking my own page was considered vandalism in my eyes. MichaelXX2 mail_icon.gif link_icon.gif 14:22, 23 May 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Forum

Okay okay. I'm not very good at avoiding all of this forum, now am I? Seriosly, if you keep finding me, just go to [2]! Hey Hey Whoa! Are you a Yoshi fan too? Awesome! I'm so confused around here. it seems like everything i say is forum! just help me say something non-forum. Not like this isn't forum, but PLEASE!!! I JUST BECAME A USER TODAY!! YOU'RE THE ONLY ONE WHO EVER RESPNDS TO ME!!! HELP MEEEEE!!!!!! Fingerface 23:21, 1 June 2009 (UTC)

Okay, okay. How to talk non-forum is to have general discussion about the content of the toon. For example, if you say that you disagree with a fun fact on the page or if you want to discuss adding something to the page, hat's valid talk page material. But if you say "How does Strong Bad do that? It's amazing!!" Then that's not pertaining to the content of the page. For more info, check out chat.hrwiki.org if you want to talk to me privately. Hope to see you there, MichaelXX2 mail_icon.gif link_icon.gif 00:14, 2 June 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Long Edit Summaries

Michael, the edit summary that you supplied for this edit [3] was way to long. Please refrain from this, as it is annoying for RC patrollers to have to put up with. Thanks. MichaelXX2 mail_icon.gif link_icon.gif 06:30, 6 June 2009 (UTC)

Okay. I'll try to avoid that from now on. I was a little carried away, is all. It'll never happen again. MichaelXX2 mail_icon.gif link_icon.gif 06:31, 6 June 2009 (UTC)

[edit] unsigned

I fixed the unsigned template you put on Talk:Planet K. Please read Template:unsigned for info on how to correctly add this template in the future. OptimisticFool 22:49, 19 June 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Crack in the Wall

You're claiming that you made/contributed heavily to an article that was my idea/original creation? Gasp! OptimisticFool 01:31, 23 June 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Woops.

I was actually in the process of undoing that userbox add when you undid it. X-) Thanks, though. --Onamuji (b/w T. C. ) 14:36, 29 June 2009 (UTC)

You're welcome. Gnoming is just something I do. MichaelXX2 mail_icon.gif link_icon.gif 14:37, 29 June 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Bad-faith summaries and ill-advised edits

I believe you are using my name in bad faith in edit summaries and on talk pages. Here, for example. First of all, there is almost no need to (try to) link to any user's name in a summary, ever, and certainly not for something as trivial as fixing up a page. It's rare that a user should even be mentioned in a summary except after the words "reply for". Second, I know you know the proper capitalization of my name and that you are getting it wrong on purpose. I can't imagine why you think this is a good idea and suggest for your own good that you knock it off. As for the edit itself, I was very intentional in the way I formatted it. Strong Bad doesn't have just one business card. I was using the citation restrictively as part of the description, and thus parentheses are inappropriate. In addition, not only is there precedent for listing the text on the card, it just makes good sense: Transcribing the card means the file can be found easier in a text search, and it's not transcribed anywhere else on the wiki. Whenever you edit the wiki, you should ask yourself whether the edit makes the wiki better or worse, and if it's the latter, then please don't bother. Thanks. — It's dot com 23:53, 1 July 2009 (UTC)

I'll do what you ask of me. But I really don't think that something as small as the wrong capitalization of your name could really bother you that much. MichaelXX2 mail_icon.gif link_icon.gif 00:59, 2 July 2009 (UTC)
It has nothing to do with how small the issue is. It has everything to do with the fact that you know what you're doing is incorrect and yet continue to do it solely because you know I don't prefer it. — It's dot com 01:18, 2 July 2009 (UTC)
I promise it'll never happen again. MichaelXX2 mail_icon.gif link_icon.gif 01:20, 2 July 2009 (UTC)
Never do what again? Because the thing with my name isn't as important as the fact that you're acting like a know-it-all with regard to image summaries and that you removed valuable information. Are you going to stop that, too? — It's dot com 02:08, 2 July 2009 (UTC)
Yes sir, I'm going to stop being a know-it-all and I'm going to quit saying "It's Dot Com" and I'm going to quit policing. You have my word. MichaelXX2 mail_icon.gif link_icon.gif 02:10, 2 July 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Main Page talk archive

Hi Michael,

Your archiving of the Main page talk was premature. There are still very recent posts on this page that may induce further conversation. Talk pages are generaly archived on a need-to basis. That means we only archive reasonably old and inactive posts once the talk page is unmanageably large. More thought needs to be given whenever doing maintenance tasks such as these. Also, please avoid doing these maintenance tasks just for the sake of doing them. If in doubt, it would be better to ask more seasoned editors first. Thanks. --Stux 02:31, 13 July 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Edit Summaries - yet again

Hi Michael, your recent edit summaries here and here are more like rants than usable information about your edits. You have been told again and again to not to be rude. Is it really that hard to be nice to people? Before you write something like that, you should take a step back and consider that a real person made those edits that you were rude about. Maybe a real person like you. Would you be happy if someone talked to you like that? I wouldn't be. Don't be a jerk. Loafing 10:39, 15 July 2009 (UTC)

I edited your transcript, adding in that the Compe "laughes". Sorry for that.--70.176.220.156 16:37, 3 August 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Logging out to get around a ban

The reason we restricted you from editing in the user space, and why we continue to restrict you, is that you carelessly use words like ruined. Nothing is ruined. Everything is fine. It's a wiki, after all—things are easily fixed or reverted. When you use strong words like ruined, it puts people off of whatever task they were trying to help with. With some kind instruction, a user can usually correct whatever they were doing wrong. Even if they can't, we've made it clear to you over and over that you're not the one to try and correct them. If you log out to get around your user space ban again, I'll just block your whole account. — It's dot com 17:57, 4 August 2009 (UTC)

This little userspace ban of yours can be very inconvenient at times, especially when a user is making a very obvious mistake. I now realize that the post I made on User talk:That'sBupkis's talk page was rude and uncalled for, but on my defense, it was early in the morning. I think you should give people a chance, It's dot com, instead of pushing something on someone and ignoring them for six months. A lot of things can happen in six months and I really think that I should be given a fair chance. But knowing you, this comment will get me blocked. MichaelXX2 mail_icon.gif link_icon.gif 23:47, 4 August 2009 (UTC)
Early in the morning is no defense. You had to take several steps to accomplish what you did. Namely, you edited the File page, logged out, and then edited his talk page. The fact that we are still having to deal with this with you shows me that you haven't learned anything at all in the last six months. I'm nowhere closer to lifting the ban today as I was on day one. I should note also that the "little userspace ban" was to keep from having to ban you altogether. — It's dot com 00:05, 5 August 2009 (UTC)
