1987 is a year that is often referred to in the Homestar Runner body of work. Its significance to The Brothers Chaps is unknown, however two events have been mentioned by them as taking place. In the DVD commentary for monster truck it was revealed that in 1987 Donnie Chapman dressed as Vince Neil of Mötley Crüe and Matt Chapman dressed as Evel Knievel for Halloween. At Flashforward 2006 Seattle, Mike mentioned that Matt won an award at a media festival for stop-motion clay animation when he was in the seventh grade in 1987.
