Thyme is a plant native to southern Europe that is cultivated as a culinary and medicinal herb. Because "thyme" is pronounced the same as the word "time", the former is often used as a substitute for the latter in cases where "time" would be a more appropriate choice. Strong Bad also says "thyme" in do over, though it is not used as a substitute for "time". In Haunted Photo Booth Teaser, it is used both ways.

- Thorax Corporation — The weekly newsletter sign up page includes the phrase, "THANK YOU FOR TAKING THE THYME TO FILL OUT THIS FORM!"
- Email marzipan — Instant messages appear on Strong Bad's Compy 386 that are titled "Message Thyme".
- Teen Girl Squad menu — Cheerleader's shirt reads "party thyme".
- Thy Dungeonman II — Typing "Get Dagger" will result in the message, "Not this thyme, friend."
- Email portrait — A sticker on Strong Mad's macaroni portrait reads "Great Thyme", with a smiling picture of the herb. In the DVD commentary, Matt Chapman mentions that he likes spelling "time" as "thyme".
- Email death metal — Strong Bad opens a video window that is titled "Video Thyme".
- 4 Gregs — When halftime starts, Sci-Fi Greg remarks, "There's a halph-thyme?".
- Haunted Photo Booth Teaser — Strong Bad gives Character 2 a garland of thyme, and remarks that he "gave [him] a thyme"— a reference to Cartoon Characters, the Skills of an Artist from which Character 2 originated.
- Trogdor!! The Board Game — Update #18 of the Kickstarter campaign states that the Homestar Runner meeples can be used in "family funthyme".
- @StrongBadActual posted a drawing entitled "dangeresque: cyberthymez" to Twitter on 7 Nov 2019. A reenactment of the drawing by a fan costumer is later featured in Fan 'Stumes 2020.
- Halloween Hide & Seek — The secret tunnel found behind The King of Town's castle is referred to by the game as "Secret Thyme".
