Marvel Comics (or simply Marvel) is a comic book publisher most well-known for superheroes.
Founded in 1939 as Timely Comics, the company rose to prominence in the 1960s with "The Marvel Age of Comics" — driven by writer-editor Stan Lee, Marvel's comics increased focus on characterization and more mature issues to appeal to older readers than the child audiences comic books had been known for. Famous Marvel characters and series include Spider-Man, the Avengers, and the X-Men. Numerous TV shows and movies have been based on Marvel comics, with the Marvel Cinematic Universe as the most prominent example.

- Email superhero name — The email Stiny sends to Strong Bad mentions Spider-Man, albeit using the common misspelling of "Spiderman".
- Email dragon (DVD Commentary) — Matt Chapman remarks that the brothers learned to draw "the Marvel Comics way", referring to How to Draw Comics the Marvel Way.
- Peasant's Quest — If Rather Dashing tries to obtain the rocks from the opposite side of the lake, the game responds "You do your best Mr. Fantastic impersonation, but you can't reach from here." Mister Fantastic has the ability to stretch his body to any shape he desires.
- Email alternate universe — When Strong Bad enters Strong Badman's universe, he asks if "the geniuses behind She-Hulk" were responsible for Strong Badman having such a lame storyline.
- In the DVD commentary, The Brothers Chaps remark that they were unaware that She-Hulk comics were well-known for breaking the fourth wall and having generally good writing; they only were familiar with the character from The Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe and a Fantastic Four vs. the X-Men comic.
- Email hygiene (Easter egg) — The cover of an issue of The Total Adventures of Strong Badman is a swipe of The X-Men #28, with Moth Mouth drawn in the same pose as Banshee.
- Email mini-golf (DVD commentary) — Matt says the last hole looks like something from "Doctor Strange Land". The Doctor Strange series is notable for surreal, mystical landscapes and vivid visuals, developed by creator Steve Ditko.
- Comic Book Movie — Strong Bad mentions movie superheroes wearing monochrome leather outfits rather than "a colorful spandex costume". Superhero movie adaptations commonly redesign and simplify character costumes; perhaps the most prominent example is X-Men, which featured a character remarking that "yellow spandex" would be an absurd alternative to their leather uniforms.
- @StrongBadActual tweet (Jun 15 2019) — Strong Bad says that Scavenger from Dragon's Claws is the type of "obscure, lame, and awesome" Marvel character he would go as for Halloween. Dragon's Claws was a short-lived Marvel UK series, cancelled in 1989 due to low sales after only ten issues.
