Fun Facts

Remarks

  • During the scene where Coach Z is giving advice to Homestar, Homestar's star appears as a pentacle — a hollow star drawn with lines across each point. Stars are often drawn this way because it's easier to make them symmetrical.
  • If you go to the third deleted scene (where Strong Mad plays Strong Bad's role), the tattoo on Strong Mad's right arm is of the band Black Flag. He is also wearing a shirt with a megaphone decal on it.
  • The flower that Marzipan is watering is similar to the flower in Coach Z's "bad gift" scenario.
  • Marzipan's handprint seems to indicate that she has invisible arms and hands.
  • Unless Pom Pom had two identical guns, he couldn't have pulled out the gun the second time, because he threw it away.
  • There is no "back" link at the end of the old version.
  • The link to the storyboards no longer works.
  • Despite the Yello Dello's feminine appearance and the fact that it's referred to as a her, it speaks in a male voice.
  • This is the first appearance of Atari 2600 graphics on HomestarRunner.com.

Goofs

  • When homestar is talking in the scene where pom-pom is floating, the dots on his hat disappear.
  • In the locker room scene, Coach Z's right foot is cut down by a thin gray line in the middle, showing a mistake in copy and pasting.

Inside References

  • The goat head that pops out from behind the mountain in Coach Z's "bad gift" scenario also appeared in Audition With Marzipan.
  • In the commentary, Strong Sad reveals that he dreams of his own death (over and over and over...)
  • In the commentary, Homestar accidently introduces the toon as "the King of Town Super DVD", which references to the King of Town DVD.
  • In the commentary, Strong Bad's saying that he doesn't trust Pom Pom any further than he can throw him is another reference to King of Town DVD, where SB makes the same quote in the commentary about the little chef guy.
  • Oven mitts appear several times in the DVD.

Real-World References

  • "Hello Yello Dello" might be a reference to The Three Stooges' quote of "Hello, Hello, Hello! Hello hello hello hello hello!"
  • The deleted scene with the plane is a reference to the Atari 2600 game Barnstorming. The scene with the scorpion is from the classic Atari 2600 game Pitfall.
  • The title may be a reference to the old TV series "In Search Of", which was narrated by Leonard Nimoy (Star Trek's Mr. Spock) and detailed the search for various legendary beasts, artifacts, and places (e.g. In Search of Bigfoot, In Search of The Loch Ness Monster, and so on).
  • Mello Yello (mentioned in the third deleted scene) is a brand of soda made by Coca-Cola similar to Mountain Dew.
  • The menu theme being obnoxiously loud is a reference to Pitfall 2, in which it played all through the game incredibly loud for an Atari. The menu theme is not the same as Pitfall 2's; however, it does sound very similar to it.
  • H2-OH! is a bottled water brand.
  • The Yello Dello's manner of eating is a reference to the Lucasarts adventure game LOOM, in which a seagull eats a clam in the same way.
  • The character from Yars' Revenge that Homestar mentions in the Commentary is the Yar that you control in the game. In the game you can eat squares off of the Quotile's (the enemy) Shield.

Fast Forward

  • In the deleted scene, where Homestar and his companions are in the plane, after they fly into the ducks Homestar yells out, "Somebody get this freakin' duck away from me!" This would be later said by Strong Bad relating to the Atari dragon on Main Page 13.
  • The quote, "I think I has the solution" was also said by Strong Bad in little questions
