The plugs given in reference to Teen Girl Squad may refer to the animé series Sailor Moon, which was revamped for the '90s in North America and had many episodes cut (including two where everybody dies.)

Arguments for:
- It's not the first Sailor Moon reference on Homestar Runner.
Arguments against:
- It's very vague gag and could easily be a coincidence.
- Speculatory facts are not good facts.
- Real world references on HR are generally recognizable, this one is far more obscure and obtuse than the references TBC normally use.
- The members of Teen Girl Squad (and their adventures) do not resemble anything related to Sailor Moon.
- The holiday episode(s) of TGS are(is) intact (depends on if you count the Payplus clip and the Spring break ep as holiday episodes). One of the selling points of this fact is that the holiday episodes of SM were cut from the U.S release.
- The plug for TGS only mentions that it was revamped for the nineties, not translated for the U.S.
- The "everybody dies" episode of TGS is intact as well. It was episode 8.
Additional comments:
- Sailor Moon wasn't revamped. It was edited to make it more kid friendly.
