Store Thank You Messages

From Homestar Runner Wiki

Jump to: navigation, search

After making a purchase from the Yahoo Store, customers were automatically shown a Store Thank You Message. Four short toons were in rotation, influenced by the time from the user's computer clock and random chance. If the page was accessed without being forwarded from making a purchase, an alternate fifth toon would play. After the toon finished, the browser automatically redirected back to the Store main page.

The videos were no longer implemented as of October 9, 2008. Since at least September 2, 2017, the page and Flash file have been wholly deleted from the site — attempting to access its historic URL only results in a Neon 404'd.

[edit] Fun Facts

  • Multiple, different purchase scenes could be seen by adjusting the system clock and clicking the browser back button. This could be done multiple times to continue viewing the alternate scenes.
  • The filename for Bubs's message, thankyou_bubsness.swf, is a reference to Homestar using the portmanteau "Bubsness" in the Broken Compy Menu.
  • The page title, "Thank you so much for to buying our crap", is a reference to the ending of Super Mario 64, where Mario says a similar line, "Thank you so much for to playing my game," at the end of the credits roll.
  • In Homestar and Marzipan's Thank You message, Marzipan's guitar does not have its trademark "Carol" printed on it.
