Talk:Demons

I dunno. I know we have other concordance-style articles, but I'd still like to hear some support for this one before we keep it. The examples on the page are so loosely related that I'm not sure we need a page outlining all the appearances of the word demon. (See also the discussion at Talk:Angels.) If it's decided that this info should be on the wiki, then it might be appropriate to merge it with the religion article. — It's dot com 18:33, 19 August 2009 (UTC)

Cacodemons is sort of a specific reference, since that is more a video reference. The other ones could fit elsewhere (such as The Poopsmith in Hell or Strong Sad in different town winding up in the more general Religion article). As it stands now, there is too much overlap with other articles that isn't useful.Semi-mergewbwolf (t | ed) 19:44, 19 August 2009 (UTC)
If it is merged into another article, I suggest that the other article be Hell and that the merged article be named "Demons and Hell". I would point out, however, that Angels and Heaven are separate articles. Seahen 04:56, 20 August 2009 (UTC)
But Hell is a place article, not a... Whatever category this page should be. Merging them would be hard to categorize, and well all the articles linking to hell as a place will need to be changed. I can see how angles, demons, Hell and Heaven are similar in topic, but each of them is unique to itself and have enough appearances to support itself. They are also really different from the Religion article (Which is more loosely formed then this article, in my opinion), which incorporates religions other then the Christian-themed ones in question. So unless someone can come with a magnificent way of combining all of them articles, I think they should be split. Elcool (talk)(contribs) 04:28, 21 August 2009 (UTC)
Additionally, "Demons and Hell" doesn't really work as a good article name. Just sayin'... --DorianGray 04:34, 21 August 2009 (UTC)
DorianGray, i'm pretty sure the lack of being able to find a good merge title is indicative of the fact that these would not make a good merge. — Defender1031*Talk 04:38, 21 August 2009 (UTC)
There is no way we're going to be able to find a way to merge them all. NO MERGE. Angels, Demons, Hell, Religion, and Heaven all stay the same. Angels and Heaven are different, as is demons and Hell. It wouldn't make much sense. free 13:02, 21 August 2009 (UTC)
Well, if there's no merge, that brings me back to my original point that it possibly shouldn't be an article at all. — It's dot com 15:25, 21 August 2009 (UTC)
Hmmm, I'll be honest; I'm less sure about this one than Angels. The demon examples are pretty loosely related, much more so than in Angels. Although, for consistency's sake, it would be better to keep both. I'll have to think about this one before I vote.... LePorello / T / C 15:53, 21 August 2009 (UTC)
Maybe I'm missing something, but I don't see why we would have to significantly change the hell article if we add the demon stuff in. I just don't see that as a significant barrier to merger. -132.183.138.208 16:29, 21 August 2009 (UTC)
Because Hell is a place. Characters are seen there. Demons are beings, or a way to describe something. It's like merging United States and Americans on Wikipedia. Elcool (talk)(contribs) 19:24, 21 August 2009 (UTC)
But that's because there's enough information about American stuff for there to be several separate articles on American stuff. If it were a single "US/America" page, you'd expect to see a subsection addressing citizens/culture/etc. -132.183.138.208 20:49, 21 August 2009 (UTC)
And the "Culture" and "Demographics" subsections of the current USA wiki page are pretty analogous to this, imo. -132.183.138.208 20:51, 21 August 2009 (UTC)
You are taking my analogue too far. I meant that this is a place and this isn't. What's more, that most of the demons listed here aren't actually in Hell. I was just making an example. Elcool (talk)(contribs) 15:27, 22 August 2009 (UTC)
OK, I've made up my mind. No Merge. These articles work best split. E.L. Cool's analogy best describes the reasons behind my decision, so, yeah. No merge. LePorello / T / C 16:03, 22 August 2009 (UTC)
I think this is worth keeping , if we merge Cacodemons into it. If we have, ignore that. So... keep. Wow, there are a lot of colons on this page.--Jellote wuz here 16:18, 22 August 2009 (UTC)
Well, if people still insist on no merge, I'm with dotcom in that this page doesn't stand on its own. Flat delete. -128.103.10.135 16:28, 22 August 2009 (UTC)
No way. I'm in the no-merge camp myself, but I'd rather see the article merged anywhere than deleted. (One possibility we haven't considered is merging Angels with Demons; if we did that, we could also merge Heaven with Hell to form Afterlife.) The point of these articles is to document recurring themes, or recurring thematic categories, on H*R, and demons are one of those themes. Seahen 05:33, 24 August 2009 (UTC)
All the topics mentioned on this page should be kept separate; Heaven and Hell are places, and Angels and Demons are beings. Futhermore, in many depictions of the afterlife, Heaven doesn't always contain Angels and Hell doesn't always contain Demons. These associations, I believe, are mainly reflective of the traditional views of Western Christianity, which differ from the interpretations of other religions. No merging should take place between any of these articles. As for the Angels and Demons articles themselves, I don't see any problem with keeping them. – The Chort 13:11, 9 September 2009 (UTC)
It seems fine,It shouldn't be deleted.Their is probably someone out there who is interested in finding out when demons appear in the Homestar Runner.I,for one,was a bit intrigued by this article,it also seems to follow the inclusion guidelines.Although I wouldn't be very upset if this page is gone. You guys want to delete it,no skin of my back.Be my guest!
