"The Homestar Runner Mysfit-steries" is a Scooby Doo-like cartoon written by Youdbetterbelieveit Chimendez that represents Strong Bad's memory of when he, Strong Mad, Homestar Runner, and Marzipan were teenagers in the Strong Bad Email high school. Common plot threads apparently included debating the existence of "mysterious", as well as Strong Bad and Strong Mad's attempts to emancipate Homestar from his ridiculous stripèd pants. Each of the characters bears a resemblance to a Scooby Doo character: Strong Bad looks like Shaggy, Homestar looks like Fred, Strong Mad looks like Velma, and Marzipan looks like Daphne.

At Homestar's insistence, the group plays in a band "just to be safe". In this band, Homestar plays the guitar and sings (without his usual speech impediment), Marzipan plays the tambourine, Strong Bad plays the keyboard, and Strong Mad plays the drums. Their known songs include "Havin' Fun With My Friends" and "Kooky Moonlight", the latter of which featured the Stave It Off Guy as a guest guitarist. Teenage Homestar plays his guitar left handed, Teenage Strong Bad plays keyboard despite not having visible fingers, and Teenage Marzipan can play a trumpet and a tambourine at the same time.

As Strong Bad states, he has an "extremely unphotographic" memory. With that in mind, it's unlikely that this account of the characters' pasts can be considered canon. It is also possible to conclude the same thing from the fact that in senior prom, the characters appear as their normal selves, despite attending their "high school senior prom". The Podstar Runner synopsis claims Strong Bad's flashbacks in the email are "a buncha stuff that's not true".
