These peoples
These peoples try to fade
These peoples
These peoples
These peoples try to fade
These peoples
These peoples
These peoples try to fade
(Fade me!)
These peoples try to fade me!
(I can't handle it!)
C-c-c-call me on my cell phone!
(I get busy!)
These peoples try to fade me!
(I can't handle it!)
C-c-c-call me on my cell phone!
(I get busy!)
Coach Z's got money, but not much
Coach Z's got money, but not much
Coach Z's got money, but not much
I could use a dollar, I could use a couple bucks
I'm so oldschool (one two one two)
They tore the school down! (one two one two)
Where my lasers at?
Where my lasers at, y'all?
Where my lasers at? (Where my lasers at?)
Where my lasers at, y'all?
Where my lasers at?
All the peoples try to tell me where my lasers at
And your mother tried to show me all the laser crabs
And I got a bunch of types, a bunch of laser dabs
{makes laser gun noises}
These peoples try to fade me!
(I can't handle it!)
C-c-c-call me on my cell phone!
(I get busy!)
These peoples try to fade me!
(I can't handle it!)
C-c-c-call me on my cell phone!
(I get busy!)
I got to see the sweet doctor! (I'm Dr. Sweet!)
I got to see the sweet doctor! (I'm Dr. Sweet!)
I got the grown-up beats! (I'm Dr. Sweet!)
I got the grown-up beats! (I'm Doctor-doctor-doctor Beats!)

[edit] Fun Facts
[edit] Explanations
- In the context of hip-hop, "fade" was originally a gang term to kill someone, although now it can simply mean to put down or disgrace.
- To dab is to apply with short poking strokes. A dab is also a small flatfish, Limanda limanda, also known as the common dab. Interestingly, the word dab would also be used as the name of a hip-hop dance move over a decade later.
- "Flow" is a rapper's ability to vocalize a rhythmic yet complex string of rhymes that fit together in a logical and seamless manner.
[edit] Trivia
- Some of the laser sounds come in stereo, moving back and forth from left to right speaker.
- This was the first entry to appear on Podstar Runner that is not featured on the official Homestar Runner website. The summary read, "Coach Z drops science, but not much."
- The YouTube description for this toon is "Powered by The Cheat video for Coach Z's track off 'Strong Bad Sings and Other Type Hits.' Previously a hidden video track on the CD. Remember those?"
[edit] Inside References
- This song was mentioned several times before it was released:
- In new hands, Coach Z tries to sing his song with the help of Strong Bad, who drops a beat for him with one of his new hands (a bucket).
- In Coach Z's Character video, Coach Z closes his video by trying to sing These peoples try to fade me, only to have Homestar stop the recording before the first line.
- One of the Strong Bad Email scroll button songs has Coach Z saying "And if you're tryin' to fade me then ya must smoke crack."
- Coach Z pronounces the word "Bomb" as "Baaeerrrmm". This is reminiscent of the toon The House That Gave Sucky Treats.
- Coach Z's sign reads "WiLL FLOW AND/OR FReAK FOR FOOD", and in the recording booth, the light reads "ON AiR", both containing lowercase i's.
[edit] Real-World References
- The symbol in the top right-hand corner in the video when Coach Z says "I'm Dr. Sweet" resembles the caduceus, a symbol of commerce which is often mistakenly used in place of the Rod of Asclepius, the symbol of medicine.
- In a Thanksgiving 2020 tweet, @StrongBadActual revealed that the repeating rap chorus was influenced by the Dream Warriors track "Do Not Feed The Alligators".
