[edit] Welcome, Pdedecker!
Welcome to the Homestar Runner Wiki! We're glad to have you as a member. If you need any help, feel free to ask me, or anyone else on the welcoming committee. You can also post questions on the FAQ talk page.
Here are some tips to get you started:
- If you need general information, editing tips, or answers to frequently asked questions, check out the help page, and the FAQ.
- If this is the first wiki you've been on, you might want to look at the editing help page, or the more complete MediaWiki Users' Guide.
- Before you do any significant editing, be sure to familiarize yourself with our wiki standards.
- When you leave a message on a talk page, sign it by typing

after it. That'll automagically put your username and the time. - Read up on the rules and guidelines for your user space.
- If you're not sure what you can do to help out, head over to The Stick.
- To practice editing, go over to the sandbox.
- If you're looking for more community interaction, you can also register over at our forum, or if you're feeling creative, you can register at the Fanstuff wiki.
- If you see an update on homestarrunner.com that isn't listed on the Main Page, put it up here.
- Above all, be sure to be bold and have fun!
Feel free to delete this message when you're done reading it. (In general, it's considered poor etiquette to remove others' comments from your talk page, but this message is just here to be helpful. It's fine to remove it once you don't need it.) I hope this information is helpful, and that you'll have a good experience contributing to our knowledge-base and our community.
Sincerely,

[edit] Dutch Subtitles
Nice to see someone new paying an interest to the Subtitles project! Unfortunately things need to be done behind the scenes for a new subtitles language to work... If you post a note on HRWiki Talk:Subtitles, I'm sure the powers that be will set it all up for you. Thanks, and keep up the good work! --phlip TC 11:14, 4 February 2007 (UTC)
- One minor thing... in the
<transcript>
tag at the top of the subtitles script, could you make a habit of changing thexml:lang="en-us"
toxml:lang="nl"
? Just so that the subtitles system knows it's looking at Dutch subtitles when it loads them, rather than American English ones. --phlip TC 12:08, 4 February 2007 (UTC)- Whoops. I must have overlooked that. I'm sorry. :) --Pdedecker 12:31, 4 February 2007 (UTC)
I also have a tip for you, pdedecker. I assume you're just picking up the English version and changing "English" to "Dutch" at the top, but this step is no longer necessary. The location of the page takes care of it automatically, and the language should just be removed. For example, instead of {{subtitles|Dutch|virus}}
you should put {{subtitles|virus}}
. Thanks, and keep on tranglin'. And if you already figured this out, then rock, rock on! — It's dot com 19:31, 5 February 2007 (UTC)
Hey, good jorb with those subtitles! And well done for starting a new language! Weclome to the team :-) Loafing 22:18, 5 February 2007 (UTC)
Hey there, pdedecker. It would probably be a good idea to add {{fixtranslation}} to the top of any pages where you're not sure of some lines (like sbemail155), so we can keep track of what needs to be fixed. Thanks! — It's dot com 16:29, 8 February 2007 (UTC)
- I was looking for a way to mark these translations as "unverified" but I couldn't find the right template, so thanks for the tip. I've added it to Subtitles:sbemail155/nl as you requested (it's currently the only translation that needs to be reviewed). --Pdedecker 16:42, 8 February 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Dutch Welcome Page
Hey there, Pdedecker! I noticed that you've put a lot of work into translating Dutch subtitles, and I was wondering if you would be interested in helping make a Dutch welcome portal.
The idea is to make a translated version of User:Trey56/HRWiki:Welcome/LANGUAGE_CODE in each language we have subtitles for — eventually there will be links on the main page, so that speakers of Dutch (and other languages) don't have to wade through several pages written in English to figure out how to watch Homestar Runner in their own language. So far, the welcome portal has been translated into several languages — click on the links at the top to see some of them!
So, if you're interested, you could copy the above page and work on translating it here. If you don't have time to work on it, I understand, but I just thought I'd ask. Thanks, and let me know if you have any questions! Trey56 19:32, 1 November 2007 (UTC)
- I translated a few paragraphs, I'll try to complete the article when I find the time to do it. --Pdedecker 08:13, 2 November 2007 (UTC)
- Wow, fast reply, and fast progress on the translation! I went ahead and added a Dutch welcome image I made... Thanks! Trey56 18:12, 2 November 2007 (UTC)
