Silhouettes
From Homestar Runner Wiki
Silhouettes are the image of a person, object, or scene as a solid color, usually black. In the Homestar Runner universe, silhouetted characters are usually seen at night, presumably due to backlighting caused by moonlight. They are used in all the Halloween teasers in order to hint at the costumes that the main characters are wearing. They are also sometimes used as a reference to old Dennis the Menace comics, as noted in DVD commentaries.
