[edit] Forward Referencing?

When Strong Bad is walking back to the stage from his poolside chair and singing, "Who is the guy that wins all the contests? That's me, Strong Bad. Except... maybe for that one contest. Or maybe more than one contest.", I think it might be a reference to Main Page 11 when the OTS headline has Strong Bad saying, "I shoulda won all those times!"

Anyone agree with me? --Skizzot 22:46, 23 Aug 2005 (UTC)Italic text

[edit] Removal theory?

The removal of the cartoon probably has something to do with the writing credit by R. Craig Zobel. They probably wanted anything that wasn't made completely by Chapmans gotten rid of, to remove the threat of future lawsuits.

Hm. That isn't really plausible, since Craig also helped write Where's The Cheat? and the Original Book and both of these toons are still on the site. And I haven't read anything that would lead me to believe that Craig and The Brothers Chaps aren't friends anymore. You refer to "future lawsuits", was there one in the past that I'm not aware of? -- Tom 10:17, 18 Sep 2004 (MST)
Not that I know of, but a small time operation like H*R that is fast turning into a super successful enterprise might want to keep its butt covered, and the Chaps are smart guys who know this. Anyways, it was just an idle speculation.
So you can't back up your theory with fact and admit that it isn't even probable. Do you know The Brothers Chaps personally? Because I find it hard to believe that you would know what they are thinking if you don't actually know them. Let's not speculate at all. Or at the very least, keep it on the forum. -- Tom 19:22, 18 Sep 2004 (MST)
Umm... I think they took it off the site because of Homestar. He was being to stupid. Even for Homestar. And that's STUPID! He couldn't tell that Strong Mad was Strong Bad (Although in email 114 he calls Strong Bad Pom Pom). And Tom makes a point. Where's the cheat and the original book were both by Craig and so do at least two of the Halloween toons. And who would get a lawsuit from saying that their friend made a cartoon with them and they animated it? If Missy divorced Mike would they have to remove EVERYTHING with Marzipan in it??? I mean, that's probably not it. Maybe it's the urine reference but then there's Homestar: I weally got. I weally got to pee-pee. --Mr. Flash Dude

Can i chuck in my two cents? Perhaps its because this toon is so dramatically different from the others, in terms of editing, comedic style, the voices ect, that it was removed so it didnt create the impression that it was simply a serverly sub par toon, rather than an old one. I'd suggest that it was removed to keep up the overall quality of the content on the site. Although, bearing all this in mind, there ought to be room for this toon in the museum or somwhere like that... who knows. Maybe its not old enough to be there, but not new enough to be on the site.

guy, up there! that is THE BEST reson for jump jack to be off the the site! i didn't realise how difernt it was! now i know why it's off! i still want it back!

[edit] References in later toons

Is that section really needed? Couldn't they all be lumped in with the Fun Facts? --Upsilon

EDIT: Since I've received no feedback, I'm going to delete the section and put all the references into Fun Facts. If there are any objections, let me know. --Upsilon

[edit] The Announcer's Monocle

Strang... In this cartoon the glare of the Anouncer's monocle is a Z. I wonder if this has something to do with Coach Z. Coach Z looks a lot like the Anouncer.

Or it could be an N. Or it could be just a cartoonish reflection. Your pick. 71.231.56.40 19:07, 2 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Glad

I'm kind of glad they took this off. It isn't really funny. You know, at all. If they re-did it and made it funny I'd like it. -- FireBird|Talk

It is so funny! :P :P :P :P :P :P -Miss Free Country USA

I'd have to go with Miss FCUSA. It IS so funny!-- Bonkava!

You know, if I was Firebird I would say this should definitly go on the forums. -Kinsey

Not Funny!?!?!?!? How dare you!? Total Spaceship Guy3 16:24, 1 Jul 2005 (UTC)

Dude, this is rrrl funny! I mean, they don't make 'em like that anymore. "Whew. I quit." Man, that part always makes me crack up.--Jnelson09 22:51, 21 April 2006 (UTC)

People, this is a page to discuss the content page's um... content disagreements. Not a humor argument. Head down to the forum for humor arguments. MichaelXX2

[edit] One of the best cartoons

I just saw the cartoon on the mirror website, and I couldn't believe how good it was! It was funny, too. It's about 15 times better than Marshmallow's Last Stand.

Homsar999 17:58, 11 Nov 2004

I aggree with Homsar999. I hear so many people say it's not funny but I think it's hillarious.

The fluffy noodle boy

This really is a great cartoon. Brothers Chaps: Bring this cartoon back on the site! Bluebry muffin 15:27, 14 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Which Came First?

Which did TBC make first, this toon or The Reddest Radish? I have reason to believe that they made the Reddest Radish first because in that one Strong Bad's eyes are slightly pointed at the bottom like in Marshmallow's Last Stand but in A Jumping Jack Contest they're completely round like they are now. -Miss Free Country USA

The Reddest Radish did come first. Look at the old toons page and you see. The first one has no JJC, the second one does. Both have RR.--Mr. PencilVark

[edit] Don't make up dialogue

Please do not make up dialogue for The Cheat or Pom Pom. Or The Poopsmith for that matter. We simply can't do that, as it is not said in the toon. Thanks. -- Tom 10:25, 29 Dec 2004 (MST)

[edit] Links don't seem to work

The links to the mirrored 'toon don't work. Going through the history, the pre-internal links still work. Did someone delete the pages without fixing this page? --Jay 20:48, 20 Jan 2005 (MST)

Duh. It was my bad. You'll probably notice from the error message that the url loads funny. That's because I disabled the directoy listing weird. I'll fix it now. -- Tom 23:31, 20 Jan 2005 (MST)

[edit]  ???

I don't think references to peeing is what made this toon taken off. There are many things like that done on the website. -Kinsey

  • That is a good point, 2 years, virus, and The Luau all have references to peeing, so it's not probable Total Spaceship Guy3 16:22, 1 Jul 2005 (UTC)
  • Yes, but I don't think any other references were so visual (showing the yellow urine in the jar) --Skizzot 22:48, 23 Aug 2005 (UTC)
  • But visual references to poo are okay, even the suggestion that one would eat poo like candy as in 3-times-halloween-funjob (which, incidently, is less funny than a jumping-jack contest).

[edit] Page title

I think the page title was "Jump those jacks!"—S*R 01:48, 26 Jul 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Divisble by 1.5

Homestar said that Strong Sad did twice as many jumping jacks as last year, but Strong Sad only did three.

[edit] Other toon?

In this cartoon, Pom Pom sacrificed his chance to reveal The Cheat, and Homestar shared the trophy. This happened in the original book, but Homestar revealed The Cheat and Pom Pom shared the trophy. Worth noting? Amy Whifflepoof

Maybe, seems a little bit trivial, though.

[edit] Ok

This was weird but better than that crappy Marshmellows last stand.

[edit] Toons removed from site category?

Shouldn't there be a category or listing of toons/flash that has been removed from the site? (like the old Message Bored) The FAQ makes mention of a Wrestling toon of which I know nothing of. Such a category would make finding things like that helpful. --Stux 19:06, 29 October 2005 (UTC)

Uh, there is three of them. That is not enough for a category. Oh, and the wrestling one is Marshmallow's Last Stand Rogue Leader / (my talk) 19:10, 29 October 2005 (UTC)

True, that makes sense. Thank you for the name of the toon! There should still be a list of it somewhere I think. Like hook it up to the toons page or something? (if it's not already there.) I think it would be appropriate. I found that the special cartoons section of the Toons page has such a list! However it does not list the Message Bored (which is not a toon). --Stux 17:45, 11 November 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Funny

This toon was funny because it Homestar peeing in it!

Uh... yeah. This kinda thing would probably go on a user page. — talk Bubsty edits 17:53, 11 November 2005 (UTC)

[edit] strong lib secret

the strong lib is kinda funny when you click read and don't fill anything in:

No, seriously. I'm a pretty person. But I saw this one last week and boy was it . This guy was at and he started . I was like, '! You're .' He told me to stop him. I on his shoes.-- Benol, aka Coach B 04:28, 24 November 2005 (UTC)

Wow; that conjures quasi-subliminal overtones that are quite, er, colorful. —AbdiViklas 04:34, 24 November 2005 (UTC)

alright, WHY did the page get reverted after I added that fun fact? I don't see a reason... - Volbeat A The Cheat 04:36, 2 December 2005 (UTC)

[edit] A Killing Blow?

Where Did Strong Bad Get That Pom-Pom Costume? It Looks Big On Him. Who Thinks They Took It Down Because Strong Bad May Have Killed Pom-Pom? -Homsar7

Umm... Look up "hammerspace" on Wikipedia. 71.231.56.40 19:16, 2 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Wait a minute...

"This is the first time Strong Bad said, "Holy Crap!""

Or is it? I heard that The Reddest Radish predates this toon, and Strong Bad says "Holy Crap!" twice in that one.--Jnelson09 01:01, 4 May 2006 (UTC)

OK, seeing as how no one ever replies to my talk posts, I'll just handle this myself. Holy crap, I'm so lonely.--Jnelson09 21:36, 29 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Removal reason

I believe that the removal reason is indeed the peeing scene.

Come to think of it: Peeing.. in public.. while someone is collecting you urine.. It's not rocket science, this is not your everyday reference to pee!

Also, Homestar looks pregnant instead of fat, but that is my opinion.

What about puking in public? That's as gross and happaned quite a few times. Elcool (talk)(contribs) 16:00, 2 September 2006 (UTC)
Or Whatsit? That's even worse than both combined! No, I think the reason it was removed was because TBC are too embarrassed to show new fans how crap the old toons used to be. They've practically wiped it out of the site's history. – The Chort 16:31, 2 September 2006 (UTC)
Consider also The Luau, where Homestar is clearly peeing behind the gazebo, making the firewood unburnable. Qermaq - (T/C) Image:Qermaqsigpic.png 16:41, 2 September 2006 (UTC)
I forget where, but I think TBC have stated that they would like this toon to be back on the site. I therefore believe whatever the reason is, it's not related to the content but rather to something outside their control. Incidentally, there is a similar thread at the top of this page. — It's dot com 17:11, 2 September 2006 (UTC)
You're right. In the Club Aquatica Interview - 29 Oct 2003, Matt said that "We can’t disclose why they're off, it's a personal reason." Just as you said. What bothers me the most is not the fact that we may never know why they were removed, but when they'll ever be back on... – The Chort 17:36, 2 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Wait...what?

It was said on one of the Everything Else DVDs that Strong Sad's first line came in In Search of the Yello Dello. But, the dates say this one came first. And his voice sounds about the same as his one in Yello Dello. DevonM(talk·cont-ribs) 19:37, 18 June 2008 (UTC)

Anybody? Zombies? Grapity? DevonM(talk·cont-ribs) 05:30, 7 September 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Dating discrepancy

We have contradictory information on the dates here. The date given for this toon is 1999, while that given for The Reddest Radish is 2000. But information in the Fun Facts both here and at The Reddest Radish says that Reddest Radish predates Jumping Jack Contest. Where do we have cites for any of these dates, incidentally? We need to reconcile the discrepancy. Heimstern Läufer 02:08, 15 September 2008 (UTC)

I've done some digging via the Internet Archive due to a new edit conflict and I've turned up these —
Original Toons Menu (as of Oct. 29, 2000) — [1]
The original TV Time Toons Menu (as of Dec. 1, 2002) — [2]
If you look up A Jumping Jack Contest on these menus, you find it's premiere was in 2000, not 1999. Though I have not found an exact time in 2000, so a listing of 2000 has to stand. --Ngamer01 21:15, 11 December 2010 (UTC)
First link clears up nothing, but second link... yeah, that one's noteworthy. --Jaybor Day (Talk) 23:18, 11 December 2010 (UTC)

[edit] Old

I noticed in this toon, since it i no longer on the site, it uses the old character formats. To the brothers chaps go around individually to every toon on the site and update to later versions of the characters? TheThin 01:57, 24 September 2008 (UTC)

No. Last time I checked, Theme Song Video, A Holiday Greeting, and The Luau still used old character designs. Although, TBC have admitted to updating A Jorb Well Done to match the newer toons. BBG 02:02, 24 September 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Strong Bad's Belly Button

Strong Bad has a belly button in this cartoon. We need to mention this somewhere. I don't exactly know where we should though. Maybe even talk about the commentary for the original book, too. Any ideas? --Philip8o

I think that'd only be relevant if this was Lil' Strong Sad, (and thus pre-drill). He seems to be the exact same age here as he always is, however. —Guard Duck talk 07:46, 18 January 2009 (UTC)
GuardDuck, he's saying Strong BAD's belly button. Not Strong SAD's belly button. It only appears while he's on the chair by the pool, just so you know. It should be mentioned. Tizye96 08:10, 18 January 2009 (UTC)
*Ahem* well, that was embarrassing. My apologies for not carefully reading, Philip. Yeah, that could go under the "remarks" section. —Guard Duck talk 18:44, 18 January 2009 (UTC)
Alright. I'll add it. Also, I think I'm going to make a main article for belly buttons. It seems to appear enough to have it's own and they have even been mentioned before. This is all assuming that there isn't already an article for it. --Philip8o

[edit] Bubs

I don't know if i'm the only one that saw this but, if you pause right before bubs goes into the concession, you can see him still doing jumping jacks.-Record307 Talk/Contribs 21:45, 10 February 2009 (UTC)

[edit] No Sync

After Homestar stops jumping, the toon goes out of sync. Just a small goof/fun facts. --Still Homsar 21:30, 30 May 2010 (UTC)
