Talk:Corpy NT6

From Homestar Runner Wiki

Jump to: navigation, search
Ding! Corpy NT6 is a featured article, which means it showcases an important part of the Homestar Runner body of work and/or highlights the fine work of this wiki. We also might just think it's cool. If you see a way this page can be updated or improved without compromising previous work, feel free to contribute.

Apparently, everyone in the Homestar Runner universe except Marzipan, the King of Town, and the Poopsmith work at Strong Bad's office. Odd.

[edit] Puppet Stuff

Under appearances, it lists all the Biz Cas Fri clips. Is it actually confirmed that that is the Corpy that Puppet Strong Bad is using?-- Nevadie 20:54, 10 April 2007 (UTC)

There's a discussion going on about this at Talk:Office Computer. Has Matt? (talk) 23:42, 13 April 2007 (UTC)

Wait a minute, the computer used in Biz Cas Fri cannot be the Corpy because its font is the same as the Lappy's and it has a completely different shell.

Well, the puppet stuff computer WAS made before the Corpy, so... --DorianGray 02:20, 22 April 2007 (UTC)

Anony-muss here has a good point there. Maybe the Corpy NT6 was a replacement computer (with a font called Sydnie) after the computer (with a font called Glitch0) in the Puppet Stuff part of Biz Cas Fri 3 blew up. I mean, there is absolutely no way a computer made into smokey powder can be revived. Whoever was responsible for mentioning that Corpy NT6 is the same one used in the Biz Cas Fri shorts is probably getting new comers confused. --Charlie Jr. 14:59, 10 August 2007 (UTC)

Buuuuuuuuuut, Strong Bad's Tandy asploded, and he was able to fix that... User:Sbe-mail checker dan

[edit] Windows Vista

Anyone know if the NT6 is in reference to Microsoft's new OS (which is running the NT 6.0 kernel)?

While it's possible, I think the most plausible reason is a reference to a two digit number (ending with 0) and 6. So... pick 70. It's pronounced 7T. 80? 8T. And so on and so on. Bluebry 23:43, 13 April 2007 (UTC)
Oh, you mean something like Tooty-two? That's a possibility. I didn't think of that one. By the way, a better place to discuss this would be Talk:from work#NT6 = Windows Vista. Has Matt? (talk) 23:47, 13 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Office Computer

The following discussion was moved from Talk:Office Computer after it was decided to merge these two articles.

[edit] Corpy NT6

Now that the Corpy NT6 has appeared, this page is kinda obsolete. Should it be merged with Corpy NT6? Has Matt? (talk) 22:51, 9 April 2007 (UTC)
Methinks so. Bluebry 22:56, 9 April 2007 (UTC)
How do you know the Office Computer and the Corpy NT6 is the same computer? The Office Computer exploded in Biz Cas Fri 3 and was never seen again (the computer seen in Decemberween Short Shorts could have been the Corpy since we didn't see a view of it from the front). -Jeppo (TLC) 17:49, 10 April 2007 (UTC)
Yes, true. We never saw Corpy from the side and we never saw Office Compy-san from the front. Except for the puppet version, which shouldn't count, being an alternate universe and all. I think we can just add a line of "This computer may or may not be the Corpy." --DorianGray 18:08, 10 April 2007 (UTC)
Which one of these is not like the other one?
No merge. They appear to be different computers. From decompiling the Flash file for the four non-puppet appearances of Strong Bad's work computers, they are all the same except for the one in from work. TBC went out of their way to create a new computer from the side as well as from the front, so I think it's clear that they're intended to be different.
Now that we know that they're different computers, I think they should have separate articles, since Tangerine Dreams and The Cheat's iMac (2006) have separate articles. Trey56 07:45, 13 April 2007 (UTC)
There's also the point that the pre-from work office computer's monitor is not practical, which is not obvious until you decompile the Flash file as you did, so the scale was fixed in from work where it was featured more prominently. I, for one, do believe that the computer featured in those other 'toons is the Corpy. --Jaybor Day (Talk) 08:01, 13 April 2007 (UTC)
PS. I forgot to put in bold. Merge 'em. ;) --Jaybor Day (Talk) 08:04, 13 April 2007 (UTC)
Oh, you do have a good point there — perhaps it's not as open-and-shut as I'd thought. Trey56 08:03, 13 April 2007 (UTC)
Okay, after thinking about this, I agree with Jay. Yes, the designs are slightly different, but there's a good reason for this (the Compy needed to be bigger in from work since it was featured so much). TBC often update designs of their characters (e.g., Homestar Runner Evolution), so this slight change shouldn't lead us to believe that they're different since there's no story reason to suggest this. In this case, the simplest explanation is probably the right one. Merge. Darn you and your convincing arguments, Jay ;) Trey56 08:21, 13 April 2007 (UTC)
I had originally made the suggestion on the Corpy NT6 article that the two computers were one and the same. Sure, the appearance was slightly altered, but but so was the appearance of a lot of things in the HR universe. I say merge them, and if necessary, we can just make a mention that Strong Bad might have swapped computers at some point. 0rion 21:50, 13 April 2007 (UTC)
Hum....mmm... After deep thinking, I choose Merge--Darkangel Get offa me! 17:07, 14 April 2007 (UTC)
Merge. They are the same computer. The name just was only revealed in "from work". Think about it. They all are in the same office cubicle as Strong Bad's... therefore making them the same computer. TheYellowDart(t/c) 20:05, 14 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Image request

Could someone please add the explosion from Biz Cas Fri 3 to Variations? I don't have the proper software to upload flash pictures. Bad Bad Guy 19:49, 21 April 2007 (UTC)

Do you mean the computer after the explosion or the explosion itself? Has Matt? (talk) 20:36, 21 April 2007 (UTC)
The explosion itself sounds more appropiate. After the explosion it was just black dust, right? Bad Bad Guy 00:22, 22 April 2007 (UTC)
The explosion isn't really a variation. It's just an explosion. The black dust after the explosion is a variation of the computer. On Tandy 400, we don't have a picture of the explosion, but we do have a picture of the computer after it exploded. Has Matt? (talk) 00:30, 22 April 2007 (UTC)
If you think the after picture is better you can use it, but that article you linked to did have a picture of the Tandy's retirement explosion. Bad Bad Guy 01:26, 22 April 2007 (UTC)
Oops, didn't notice that. Well, I was talking about the explosion in gimmicks, as you probably guessed. The reason the retirement image is there is probably because the explosion and the Tandy are visible at the same time. If it was that way with the Biz Cas Fri explosion I would definitely do it, but unfortunately that's not the case. Has Matt? (talk) 01:35, 22 April 2007 (UTC)
So it should definitely be the black dust in the picture, not the explosion. Bad Bad Guy 01:37, 22 April 2007 (UTC)

Is it necessary for us to include the real live screen before the Flamboyant Error Screen appears? Bad Bad Guy 23:07, 20 July 2007 (UTC)

It's for a split second in Biz Cas Fri 1. Bad Bad Guy 03:49, 23 July 2007 (UTC)
I seriously tried to get the picture myself but it went by too quickly for me. Bad Bad Guy 18:20, 23 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] You don't think....

Please, don't tell me he'll honestly use the Corpy from now on!! If he does, I'm going to write an email saying he gotta getta new comp!!!

This would be forum talk. free 15:03, 13 July 2009 (UTC)

[edit] It won't last

He's gonna ditch the Corpy in an email or two, I just know it! User:MICGAGUH

This would be forum talk. free 13:28, 15 July 2009 (UTC)
I just want to let you know that you are, sadly, right. Who would think a speculation would actually be the most accurate thing I have read on this wiki. Oh well, good job anyway.--Jellote wuz here 00:09, 4 August 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Bubs

Is it just me, or is there an image of Bub's face on the CPU? --Robotguy4 21:22, 20 July 2009 (UTC)

I definitely see one. The Knights Who Say Ni 00:16, 4 August 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Senor Cardgage?

Me thinks that senors computer was a beef sandwich, and possibly the Tandy for being so random. am I mistaken? --Palla 00:25, 14 October 2009 (UTC)

While I don't know what that has to do with the Corpy NT6, Cardgage's computer was a Steak Sandwhich, and the KoT had the Tandy. Espemon333 00:29, 14 October 2009 (UTC) (Thanks for signing your post this time!)
Oh, I see now! Yeah, you're right! Weird... Espemon333 00:31, 14 October 2009 (UTC)
After tracing to origins of that line back through a merge from another page, i discovered that the parenthetical had been there since the first revision there, and i can find no explanation as to why anyone would think that senor cardgage had ever used the corpy. Unless someone can shed some light on this, I would say you were right to remove it. — Defender1031*Talk 00:58, 14 October 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Question

How do we know that the work computer from before From Work is the Corpy? The name is not seen until From Work, and I doubt that the Corpy has been around for 7 years, given that all of Strong Bad's other computers have had much shorter lives.

Because it looks the same. Also, infrequent use can extend lifespan. --DorianGray 23:36, 30 January 2010 (UTC)
