[edit] The purpose of this page

So, this page was created as a result of discussion here. The Brothers Chaps often participate in projects outside of Homestar Runner, and while we need not create articles for every one of these projects (we're the Homestar Runner Wiki, not the Sealab 2021 Wiki), this is information that Homestar Runner fans would be interested in. Also, directing people to some of Matt and Mike's other work is a nice way to show our support for them.

Some of the projects listed on this page already have pages. I propose that most of these be deleted, unless they have some important connection to Homestar Runner. For example, If I Ran the Camera should stay, because it was actually hosted on Homestarrunner.com for a while. Thorax Corporation should continue to exist, because it was linked to from Fortune Cookies. However, articles like The Knowledge Hat and Respek Knuckles should be deleted, and any important HSR-related information on pages like those should be merged with this article.

I'm sure I missed a lot of projects with which Mike and Matt have been involved, (here's one list of others, perhaps), so please fill in the gaps in this article if you see any. Trey56 08:32, 25 January 2007 (UTC)

Does this mean we're going to delete pages like Mellow Mushroom? --Trogga 20:11, 25 January 2007 (UTC)
I think we should. I have tagged The Knowledge Hat, Respek Knuckles and Mellow Mushroom for deletion. I'm not sure if we need a discussion on each separate talk page or if we should have a single discussion here. Loafing 23:00, 25 January 2007 (UTC)
The first two are easy deletes; I brought over the only salvageable information (Matt's Larry-style voice). Assuming we preserve any HSR-themed things from Mellow Mushroom (I'm not sure how much there is, let me take a look at it), that one should be deleted too. Trey56 23:27, 25 January 2007 (UTC)
The only thing HSR-related thing on that page that isn't covered on this page is the reference to Melonade. I tried finding a way to add it in the blurb on this page, but it seemed awkward. It's such a minor thing, I think we can ignore it and go ahead and delete that page too. Trey56 23:39, 25 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] tv.com references

Some of those television appearances for Matt seem rather dubious. The Rocko's Modern Life cameo was originally aired in 1995 — just after he turned nineteen, so I'm betting it was somebody else with the same name. IMDB does have ten Matt Chapmans, although number ten's only credit to date has been "thanks" on a film that both Mike and Craig worked on. — User:ACupOfCoffee@ 23:09, 26 January 2007 (UTC)

Hmm...I see what you mean. I agree with removing any that you think are dubious. Trey56 00:09, 27 January 2007 (UTC)
I added those, even though the appearances aren't listed on IMDB. I have found that IMDB is only good for major appearances of actors, and small roles like these are virtually not to be found anyways. I don't know about the reliability of TV.com, though. Loafing 21:16, 27 January 2007 (UTC)
It can be good for minor things like Matt being in the audience of an episode of Whose Line is it Anyway?", but most of those other ones were as characters which weren't mentioned in the provided synopsis of the particular episode. And most anime usually gets dubbed into English by a production company that uses the same set of actors for every show. — User:ACupOfCoffee@ 20:15, 2 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Songs

Anyone got links to lyrics for "Respek Knuckles" and "The Knowledge Hat" ? --Stux 14:28, 2 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Here Come The 123s

Apparently, one of music videos for They Might Be Giants' upcoming kids' album Here Come The 123s will be animated by TBC. --Trogga 06:34, 11 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Yo Gabba Gabba!

Take a look at what I found just the other day: On a Nick Jr. show called Yo Gabba Gabba![1], there's an episode (entitled "Friends") in which The Brothers Chaps made a story called "Faldarz." Should we add that in the Television segment? --Charlie Jr. 15:58, 20 September 2007 (UTC)

I'm trying to have a seperate page for this story. It's wanted to be on the speedy deletion, and is listed on the Wikipedia pages. James Craven 5:17 PM US EST Nov 13 2008.

[edit] Happy (Morbid) Valentines Day

In looking at the Wonkavision Magazine Interview's full scans (initially discussed here), I found under "Factoids & Tidbits" that TBC "designed an animated flash valentines day e-card for AFI". The link seems to be dead, but with the help of The Wayback Machine, I found the SWF. Has this been documented somewhere? I don't find it. There's other stuff mentioned in "Factoids & Tidbits" that I don't think has been documented, either. FWIW. OptimisticFool 20:11, 13 May 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Respek Knuckles

I've noticed that Wayback Machine only has the mp3 to "The Knowledge Hat" archived. If anyone has the mp3 to "Respek Knuckles," could you please create a mirror of it and link it to this page? Thanks. --JohnnyLurg 23:49, 28 July 2013 (UTC)

[edit] No longer a side dish, but a main course

Ted and I think that the page should be named "The Brothers Chaps' Other Projects", since these are no longer being done on the side, but rather as their main jobs. The title makes it seem as though they're still working on H*R full time and working on other projects in their other time - Catjaz63 22:09, 25 June 2015 (UTC)

I was going to respond with "they're side projects from the perspective of this wiki", but then I saw that your suggestion is "Other Projects". That seems reasonable to me. — Defender1031Talk 08:51, 26 June 2015 (UTC)
I'd say that's a more fitting name too. Slipknot6477 03:28, 2 October 2017 (UTC)
Yeah, "The Brothers Chaps' Other Projects" sounds fine, or even just "Other Projects" unless that's too vague of a title. Gfdgsgxgzgdrc 04:14, 2 October 2017 (UTC)

[edit] Two More Eggs, Two More Eggs

Mellow Mushroom has its own page on the wiki, so should Two More Eggs get a wiki page too? I think so. Dooblie doo, from Gfdgsgxgzgdrc 19:32, 18 July 2015 (UTC)

So do Ron Planet and Thorax Corp. I don't see why it should be a problem. --JohnnyLurg 19:42, 18 July 2015 (UTC)
Seconded. - Catjaz63 19:58, 18 July 2015 (UTC)
Sure. Why not? — Defender1031Talk 21:27, 18 July 2015 (UTC)

[edit] Non HSR Template?

Should non-H*R content on the Wiki have a template disclaimer at the top, such as Two More Eggs and Thorax Corporation since they're both technically not directly H*R content, but related to H*R? - Catjaz63 01:40, 6 August 2015 (UTC)

[edit] Name?

I have thought of a simple name, "side projects". If you have any better suggestions please say Noneoftheaboveorbelow (Talk | contribs) 17:56, 15 December 2015 (left unsigned)

I already started a discussion about this - Catjaz63 23:12, 15 December 2015 (UTC)

Separate question, shouldn’t this page be called “The Brothers Chaps's Other Projects”, with the ‘postrophe S? Presumably the pluralization is the “Brothers” part (a la the Brothers Strong), so singular would be a single Brother Chaps. -113.37.226.89 00:45, 22 June 2023 (UTC)

[edit] D'artagnan is the Champion trailer

The link to an animated trailer (https://vimeo.com/125470964) is dead. There is another, non-animated trailer on YoutTube, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rJLHW8af-Xo. The description of that YT video claims to link to the full video, but that link is also dead.

I wonder if anyone has the original animated trailer still? It would be cool to preserve it, since it uses h*r assets. In the mean time, we should probably link to the one that works, so I'm going to do that.

[edit] Veracity of "Flynn's Tangled Tales" credit

I'm a little loath to trust IMDB as the sole source, because it's basically a glorified wiki that (almost) anyone can edit without needing verification or citation. Apart from IMDB, no other site mentions the Chaps in connection to these shorts (i.e. googling "Matt Chapman" "Flynn's Tangled Tales" returns less than 5 results). True, it does more-or-less resemble their style - particularly the retro-video-game-inspired section in this short - but it's not like there was a shortage of Flash animators in 2011 (and IMDB only credits them as "writers"). The only credit in the video itself is "WALKER" as the editor; IMDB credits an "Erni Walker" as the editor which does lend credence to it. Their Disney development deal (per the LA Times) didn't begin until 2012, and similarly none of the shows Matt did voicework for aired before that. Of course, this could have been their foot in the door to that same development deal! but in the end it's a lot of conjecture strung together.

Basically I'm concerned about potentially spreading misinformation (or at least poorly cited info) and favor erring on the side of caution. -- Bleu Ninja 02:42, 19 June 2021 (UTC)
