[edit] Webcomics

EL, you said on your user page that you read 23 different webcomics. What are some of them? --אוקאלייליי (Ookelaylay)

All the comics that I read are on this list. Have fun! Elcool (talk)(contribs) 20:03, 24 October 2005 (UTC)
I've only ever heard of one of those on your list. And I read a lot of comics myself. --DorianGray
What webcomics do you read? Elcool (talk)(contribs) 20:07, 24 October 2005 (UTC)
*takes a deep breath* The Wotch, CHEER!, College Roomies from Hell!!!, Charby the Vampirate, Sins!, VG Cats, El Goonish Shive, Zap!, KRAKOW, Two Lumps: The Adventures of Ebenezer and Snooch, Gunnerkrigg Court, Sparkling Generation Valkyrie Yuuki, Triquetra Cats, Sore Thumbs, Something Positive, Abstract Gender, Unlife is Unfair, Grim Tales from Down Below, Powerpuff Girls Doujinshi... And those are only the ones I have saved in My Favourites. (Disclaimer: Any TG theme seen in the list is entirely coincidental, I swear.) --DorianGray
Ok, I heard about some of them, other I didn't. What comics would you recommand the most? Elcool (talk)(contribs) 18:39, 25 October 2005 (UTC)
I'd have to say my top five would be, in no particular order: The Wotch, El Goonish Shive, Sins!, Charby the Vampirate, and College Roomies. They're the.. the... the best. --DorianGray
I read- Wotch, VGCats, Ctrl-Alt-Delete, and most of the ones on Wotch's Links list. --אוקאלייליי (Ookelaylay)

[edit] Wiki Syntax

Hi, I've been recently been trying to learn as much wiki syntax as possible, and I need to one think for my Usaer page. Do you know how to change the link color so that it is the same color as the other text? I R F 12:00, 25 October 2005 (UTC)

Nevermind, I figured it out. I R F
Ok. Elcool (talk)(contribs) 16:02, 25 October 2005 (UTC)

[edit] The Amazing Backwards Troll report

LOL! Ooooops! Thanks for the fix there eh E.L.Cool! In the excitement I kinda got to focusing on getting the guy and not where I should put the stuff. It didn't dawn on me that today wasn't October 2nd, 2005... though I'd kinda like to go back to that date just once... maybe? Ah hindsight. But I digress, so thanks! --Stux 20:38, 29 October 2005 (UTC)

Well, I put all the other trolling stuff, and the guy is blocked until Satan can start making popsicles in Hell. :) Grood jorb you juys! Elcool (talk)(contribs) 20:48, 29 October 2005 (UTC)
I forgot to say, the same goes to you! Grood jorb! --Stux 13:40, 31 October 2005 (UTC)
Thanks, Stux! Elcool (talk)(contribs) 14:49, 31 October 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Hanging Stuff

Sweet new page, E.L. Nothing says "awexome" like things hanging on other things. Good jaoerb! — THE SMOKING MONKEY 13:24, 31 October 2005 (UTC)

Thanks, dude! But you also need to thank Lapper and Smileyface who helped me alot! If you look at the history of the page, you'll see it was moved twice at their advice. Elcool (talk)(contribs) 14:48, 31 October 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Gibberish Conversion Problem.

(LOL on addition) I wanted to mention that I apparently do not have the right Character set in order to display your Gibberish code correctly. I may be a fault of my OS or firefox, nevertheless the Gibberish characters have become unreadable, and are being substituted by other, inconsequential symbols that turn the intellectual, legible, and otherwise sensical Gibberish text, into illegible, incomphrehensible, and irrelevant (much like this message) gibberish. ;) I take too much time for leisure. --Stux 21:20, 31 October 2005 (UTC)

I anticipated that. I'll convert the symbols into proper HTML character codes. — Lapper (talk) 21:22, 31 October 2005 (UTC)
(LOL still inserted) Well, it's ok. I mailed the guys at Unicode to add them and the guys a Microsoft to add Gibberish to their core languages, but still no reply. I'm starting a protest by The Stick to get Gibberish recognized. Are you comming? Elcool (talk)(contribs) 04:02, 1 November 2005 (UTC)
Alright, new year's eve party! I'll bring the party plates, uh um... I mean picket signs? --Stux 06:01, 1 November 2005 (UTC)

[edit] That Butt makes your Tofu look big

When you get the "butt look big" ending, are you using the original H*R site or a Flash decompiler? I certainly never got anything like that; all the flashes of flame I saw preceded transformations (i.e. from Homstar into something else); Homestar never changed back from anything, and I never heard the "makes your butt look big" line! —AbdiViklas 19:12, 1 November 2005 (UTC)

While I'm not decompiling the Flash file, I do watch it, not the HTML page. And also I choose option 2 every time (If this helps in any way). Elcool (talk)(contribs) 19:17, 1 November 2005 (UTC)
It works, I got it... --אוקאלייליי (Ookelaylay)
Yeah; the above conversation was the result of TBC's update to the 'toon. For a brief while, there, people were seeing the new version and I, not knowing about the update, thought they had lost their minds! —AbdiViklas 02:00, 9 November 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Too Much Time On Your Hands

That was YOU? Hahaha, that's the best Stupid Fact yet! Keep 'em coming. And you're right, sorting them by length is a waste of time. I'm sure glad I only sorted them by name and place. :) Thunderbird 07:28, 7 November 2005 (UTC)

Haha. Yeah, that was me. Now I'm one of the Guys Who Have Too Much Time On Their Hands. Thank you for everything you've done to me, HRWiki! :) Elcool (talk)(contribs) 11:04, 7 November 2005 (UTC)

[edit] 675 ON PSYCHOMETRIC

I have to honestly say, I have no idea what that is or how good it is. What's the maximum number you can get on "Psychometric", and what exactly is "Psychometric"? More info on this apparently awsome event would be greatly appreciated. Thunderbird 00:56, 9 November 2005 (UTC)

Psychometric tests are similar the SATs people take in the USA. 200 is the minimum and 800 is the maximum. Getting 675 is saying I got more then 91% of the population. With this grade I can get to almost any university I want (Except for medicine, which requires 740 or more). I also got 146 on the English parts. Everyone getting more then 135 is free of further English studies IN HIS LIFE! I'm so happy about it, you can not believe it :) Elcool (talk)(contribs) 14:44, 9 November 2005 (UTC)
Awsome, I'm really happy for you. Although in your statement above, "population" doesn't quite fit. "Total" or "Maximum" would probably be a better choices, as "population" usually refers to a number of living creatures. That's really awsome though, good job. (Just out of curiosity, are you just about finished school now then? Do you guys also have a 12 grade type system over there and everything?) Thunderbird 14:56, 9 November 2005 (UTC)
Yeah. Our system is a 12 grade one, But when I say "population" I mean "population". 91% of everyone who took this test, got lower grades than I had. As I wrote, 800 is the maximum. Elcool (talk)(contribs) 14:59, 9 November 2005 (UTC)
Ooooh, my bad. Maybe I should take that english test... I wonder if I'd pass...  :) Thunderbird 00:05, 10 November 2005 (UTC)
Unfortunatly for Thunderbird and the rest of us English-hating students, I believe this test is only offered in Israel. Very nice scoring on the test, E.L. Cool. — Lapper (talk) 00:08, 10 November 2005 (UTC)
Nice job, Elcool. I am just happy that I don't have to take a Hebrew test... Rogue Leader / (my talk) 00:19, 10 November 2005 (UTC)
Amen to that. I have enough trouble trying to wrap my head around reading right to left... Thunderbird 01:23, 10 November 2005 (UTC)
Hi! Thaks you guys! You are so awesome. The English is test is pretty easy for English speakers. It have three parts: Vocabulary (Just fill in the blanks), restatement (You have a base sentence and you have to choose what answer have the same meaning as the base one) and a reading part (You have a one page of text and you answer questions according to it). All the questions are multiple choise with four optiones. What I described here is called a chepter and you have to do two chepters on each subject (Math, Hebrew and English) with a total of six chepters and two more chepters to mess with your mind just for the heck of it. Elcool (talk)(contribs) 05:35, 10 November 2005 (UTC)
Wow. So does this mean you're pretty much done highschool now then? If so, what career are you planning? Thunderbird 06:18, 10 November 2005 (UTC)
Nah.. I still have this one last year of highschool. And today there's a test in literature that I'm not gonna pass :P Elcool (talk)(contribs) 04:42, 11 November 2005 (UTC)

[edit] C'mon, give me an explanation at least

You deleted the following info about the irregular lodaing screens, and I just would like to konw why. I normally wouldn't press the matter, but this was the first contribution I got a compliment for and I'd like to know.

50K Racewalker || loada... || Similar to the actual game, because you'll get to a certain point and then stop.

Thanks for your time --Jeff J. W.(Talk·Contribs)hr.png

Hmmm, I could understand why he may have deleted it. Likely because if that was the case, they would have put it as loadi... or something. loada doesn't just cut it off, it changes the word. I agree with El Coolio, it's somewhat heresay. Thunderbird 02:28, 15 November 2005 (UTC)
It's like you took the words out of my mouth, restated them and put them in a better way that I ever could. Elcool (talk)(contribs) 04:45, 15 November 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Another one bites the wiki...

From this morning on the IRC channel of .net:

<Elcool> You know we have a wiki, right?

<Luke__> are you one of the people that ran it
<Elcool> no..

<Elcool> #2 in Google search
<Luke__> i was just checking up on homestarrunner...im a little old for it but I wanted to see what was going on
<Luke__> and I typed it in wrong and got .net
<Luke__> so now I am here
<Elcool> did you chack the link i gave you?
<Elcool> http://www.hrwiki.org
<Luke__> yes
<Elcool> well?
<Luke__> its very cool

Elcool (talk)(contribs) 12:50, 15 November 2005 (UTC)

Good work El Coolio! Too bad he wouldn't be able to edit the Wiki at all during lockdown. Thunderbird 00:56, 16 November 2005 (UTC)

[edit] User page modifications

I like it, but the first bit is a bit distracting. You've got the list of languages you speak, and it stretches all the stuff downward, leaving a big white blank sector on the left. Would you be able to do what I did, and turn it into a template or something? Thunderbird 09:56, 20 November 2005 (UTC)

I have a big white blank sector on the left because I show my TOC. I guess that some users who hide it on default may witness the whiteness, so I'll see what I can do. P.S.: Thanks. You know for what ;) Elcool (talk)(contribs) 12:22, 20 November 2005 (UTC)
E.L. Cool's page production update! Day 114: I sub-paged the Babel thingy and moved it lower. How does it look? Elcool (talk)(contribs) 13:33, 20 November 2005 (UTC)
Looks cool. But then, Babel looks cool anywhere. — Lapper (talk) 13:34, 20 November 2005 (UTC)
Thanks, man! (See you on #gamilthis?) Elcool (talk)(contribs) 13:35, 20 November 2005 (UTC)
Yea, that looks way better on my screen now, thanks. Thunderbird 21:28, 20 November 2005 (UTC)
You're weclome. I alweys like user-feedback. Elcool (talk)(contribs) 06:39, 21 November 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Fixing extra lines in Sigs

Hey E.L.Cool, sorry to bother you but I have a quick question: do you know how to fix extra lines out of sigs. I tried but I was rather unsuccessful in doing so for one. It would be something nice to know how to do effectively. Thanks! --Stux 17:58, 20 November 2005 (UTC)

I fixed it. For every <font> tag opened, there should be a closing </font> tag. Remember that next time :) Elcool (talk)(contribs) 18:21, 20 November 2005 (UTC)
I didn't even think of looking at the code itself! I'll definitely remember that for next time! Thanks! --Stux 19:06, 20 November 2005 (UTC)
You're weclome! Elcool (talk)(contribs) 19:13, 20 November 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Babel

could you make babel a template like on wikipedia? that would be cool.-- Benol, aka Coach B 05:14, 23 November 2005 (UTC)

It is cool, but the person you are looking for is Lapper who made mine and other users' Babel. Elcool (talk)(contribs) 10:24, 23 November 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Jack I

What happened what happened what happened? Thunderbird 04:16, 26 November 2005 (UTC)

I'm still not comfortable talking about it. At least not when Ack-jay I-Iay is just right here on my left. Elcool (talk)(contribs) 09:55, 26 November 2005 (UTC)
Fine. I bet your dog ate it. Or maybe your camel. :) Thunderbird 21:21, 26 November 2005 (UTC)
I don't have a dog nor a camel. He just died one day. Ok? Elcool (talk)(contribs) 22:30, 26 November 2005 (UTC)
Okie dokie. I know how you feel. In fact... (See Userpage). Thunderbird 23:13, 26 November 2005 (UTC)
Oww.. That not pretty. I was with Jack I at some friend's house and I spinned him so fast he entengled in himself. Our best man (My buddy and I) worked on him around the clock (Like, 15 minutes) until it was too late. He was done for. Yes I killed Jack I! I did it! I can still hear him spring on some late nights. Oh Jack I. I miss you so. Just to let you know, I'm writing this from my brother's place where Jack II can't see. Elcool (talk)(contribs) 11:05, 27 November 2005 (UTC)
Thanks man. Doesn't it feel better to get that off your chest?  :) Thunderbird 19:28, 27 November 2005 (UTC)
Yes. Thanks. Someday I need to have a talk with Jack II. He need to know. Elcool (talk)(contribs) 19:30, 27 November 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Re-Merging

Hey, why are you remerging stuff? I thought we all agreed to unmerge them. - Joshua 21:03, 4 December 2005 (UTC)

I looked on Talk:Places Strong Bad Made Up before I decided to make those redirects and nowhere in that page we say that they should be seperate. And who is "we all"? Elcool (talk)(contribs) 21:10, 4 December 2005 (UTC)
Recently a lot of merges had been made and had been dicussed Here. The consensus was to take greater care in merging articles. --Stux 21:13, 4 December 2005 (UTC)
Dang, you beat me Stux. Anywho, now that Kertified Klown Kare, Teddy Grahams etc. have their own pages again, what are we going to do with Minor Companies, Minor Foods and Places Strong Bad Made Up? --Sam Goldfish 21:26, 4 December 2005 (UTC)
What can I say you gotta be quick with the mouse ;). Your last question belongs in that discussion. Personally, I'd say leave 'em, they're lists. --Stux 21:33, 4 December 2005 (UTC)
I say delete them, we already have the needed lists: Foods, Characters#Companies, Places. - Joshua 21:59, 4 December 2005 (UTC)
I realy like Places Strong Bad Made Up. One of my favorites. But next time when the community dicide on the metters of a spceific page, please add a note with a link to a discussion. If I would know about that talk on the main page, I wouldn't redirects all those pages. Elcool (talk)(contribs) 04:47, 5 December 2005 (UTC)
Yeah that makes sense. Unfortunately I think part of the problem was that the merges we so all-encompassing, there was no "one good place" to put the discussion other than the main page. But you are absolutely right, the right discussion should go in the right page whenever possible. --Stux 05:07, 5 December 2005 (UTC)
I don't care if the discussion is on the talk page, the main page or on The Moon. But please just leave a link to it on the talk page. Thank you. Elcool (talk)(contribs) 05:16, 5 December 2005 (UTC)
I will do my best, but keep in mind it wasn't just me that initiated or kept the conversation going. You may want to post this same reminder in that conversation as well. Hmmm discussions in the Moon? Sounds fun! --Stux 05:37, 5 December 2005 (UTC)
Will do. Elcool (talk)(contribs) 06:54, 5 December 2005 (UTC)
Done. Do you think this notice could be made into a template? Elcool (talk)(contribs) 07:28, 5 December 2005 (UTC)
Cool. Not sure. That's a good question. I don't think we'd need it that often. And it can be a little confusing redirecting discussions around (as if I haven't done that before!), esp if old discussions are archived. Igh. Moreover the notice is a little general. I think A discussion regarding wether or not this page and pages like it should be deleted is currently going on on this talk page. would be more informative. I guess you do have a case for having a one-time-use only template. But it would be that. One time use only. Er... Meh? I have changed it for Minor Foods and Minor Companies but if you have others you may want to change those too. But yeah, definitely a good notice to have, since they're not being "formally" up for deletion, but the discussion is going on nevertheless! Great catch! --Stux 22:46, 6 December 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Uncle of Five?

Wow. Big age gap between you and your three brothers? That's awsome, I bet you spoil 'em rotten ;) My married sister(s) aren't planning on having any kids, so likely the only way I'm becoming an uncle is if I marry somebody's aunt. Thunderbird 00:55, 6 December 2005 (UTC)

I don't have three brothers. I have two and a sister, and yeah, the closest one to me is 10 years older then me. We go like this (by age): My biggest brother with two young boys and a newborn girl, my sister with a boy and girl tweens and, my other brother who is married, but don't have any kids (yet) and be. So it's just now me and my parents in this big ol', red ol', nasty ol' egg. And hand like biscuit dough! Elcool (talk)(contribs) 19:04, 6 December 2005 (UTC)
Does tweens = twins? Thunderbird 05:50, 8 December 2005 (UTC)
Yeah. And I fixed it some more. Elcool (talk)(contribs) 06:02, 8 December 2005 (UTC)
New fact... CONGRATS EL! --אוקאלייליי (Ookelaylay)

[edit] H*R ASCII

That's like... the best thing ever. How... Where... Who... did you get it (from)? Thunderbird 05:50, 8 December 2005 (UTC)

This is just the same thing I asked Bubsty. When I saw it I was like.. Wo-friggin'-W!! I don't want it to be lost in the sandbox, so I saved it. Elcool (talk)(contribs) 06:25, 8 December 2005 (UTC) (P.S.: In about 15 minutes I'll me in the computer lab where I can download mIRC. This is just the library.)
He got it from me, who got it from Rainer, who probably made it. — talk Bubsty edits 04:30, 10 December 2005 (UTC)
And Rainer left the wiki so I can't ask him. Elcool (talk)(contribs) 11:04, 10 December 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Bath vs. shower/ Legal druggies?

What were the arguments, exactly? I wanna know what the judges would consider to actually legalize some 'cannabis', but not say baths are better than showers. --אוקאלייליי (Ookelaylay)

I'll reply to you what exactly we said, but it's late and I don't want to look up all those words I don't know how to write in English right now. So I'll see you in the morning. Elcool (talk)(contribs) 20:39, 10 December 2005 (UTC)
Late? but it's... oh... waitaminute... I forgot, different time zone... g'night EL... --אוקאלייליי (Ookelaylay)
Night. Elcool (talk)(contribs) 20:46, 10 December 2005 (UTC)
Ok. So our main arguments for cannabis are that the only reason people get sick/overdose today from it, it's because the stuff on street isn't pure. They add synthetic THC and other non-cammabis herbs. If the drug was legalized, it would have been regulated like any other medical drug: manufactured at a pharmaceutical companey and sold at a pharmaceutical store, not in the middle of the street by some suspicious dude. Like alcohol, you won't be able to drive and operate heavy machinery until you sobber up. Cannbis is not addicting and smoking it would not couse cancer like normal cigarettes as it's 100% natural.
The only reason why we lost the suprize round is because we have a water problam in Israel. As showers are quicker and take less water then baths, it was a sure loss. But I don't care, as long as I made my point about the drug. I choose that topic in the first place. Elcool (talk)(contribs) 15:43, 11 December 2005 (UTC)
Yah, you actually had good arguments. But, for me, showers are 30-40 minute affairs, and baths are 10-15 minutes, so that could have been an argument. --אוקאלייליי (Ookelaylay)
Showers get you cleaner anyways. --DorianGray
Yeah, that was another problam. I'm for showers myself. Elcool (talk)(contribs) 16:55, 11 December 2005 (UTC)
All this talk about showers made me want to take one myslef. Elcool (talk)(contribs) 17:01, 11 December 2005 (UTC)
I haven't had a bath in like... 6 years, since we finished building our bathroom downstairs and we put a shower stall in there. (It's right beside my room. To have a bath, I'd have to use the upstairs one). Thunderbird 17:16, 11 December 2005 (UTC)
Poor you. Only two baths to choose from. In my day we used the sprinkels in the neighbor's yard to shower our selfs! Elcool (talk)(contribs) 17:30, 11 December 2005 (UTC)
T, you had me scared, with that first sentence... and you spelled sprinkle wrong... anyway it would have been easier on the shower side rather than the bath side. --אוקאלייליי (Ookelaylay)
True that. Elcool (talk)(contribs) 18:38, 11 December 2005 (UTC)
Haha, I was hoping somebody would point that out. (And I think El Coolio was looking for "Sprinklers". It's kinda a stupid word). Thunderbird 20:17, 11 December 2005 (UTC)
Sprinklers. Yeah. Mamterot is better, anyway :) Elcool (talk)(contribs) 20:35, 11 December 2005 (UTC)
You say Mamterot, I zader Madermorts. Thunderbird 20:51, 11 December 2005 (UTC)
