Hey there! I think it's awesome that you referred to Stu as an "Übergeek". I kid you not: I am wearing a T-shirt that has that exact word on it right now. == Counting Contributions ==
+
== labels ==
-
Hey there, Elcool. I'm just wondering, how do you know how many contributions you made on the Wiki? Is there something somewhere that updates whenever you make an edit, or do you have to count the edits one by one? {{User:Has Matt?/sig}} 00:48, 21 January 2006 (UTC)
+
this was created in responce to a conversation [[Talk:H%2AR.com_updates_2006#Idea|here]]. It was talked about a while ago and I decided to try implementing it. It would be used on other pages only on a case by case basis if it was decided to be useful there. Thank you for the concern.
-
:Good question. I know every user have a contributions page (like [http://www.hrwiki.org/index.php/Special:Contributions/Has_Matt%3F yours]) but counting it can be tricky. I think it was Lapper who showed me how to do it and it's not that hard. [http://www.hrwiki.org/index.php?title=Special:Contributions&target=Has_Matt%3F&offset=0&limit=500] See that number at the end of the URL? This indecates how many edits are shown on the page. On the page itself you can see the line that says:
+
[[User:Olleicua|Olleicua]] 16:34, 8 October 2006 (UTC)
-
<blockquote>
+
-
:(Latest | Earliest) View (previous 500) (next 500) (20 | 50 | 100 | 250 | 500).
+
-
</blockquote>
+
-
:Just rise the number on the URL to how many edits you think you have. If you can click the link ''(next X)'' you edited more then the number you chose. If you can't then you edited less. Just play with it a bit untill you know about how much edits you've made. Have fun! {{User:E.L. Cool/sig}} 00:59, 21 January 2006 (UTC)
+
-
::Oh, ok. Thanks! I was thinking it would be something like that. {{User:Has Matt?/sig}} 01:08, 21 January 2006 (UTC)
+
-
:::You're weclome! {{User:E.L. Cool/sig}} 01:12, 21 January 2006 (UTC)
+
-
::::Yeah, that's what I do too. It's easier to count them by just rounding down to the nearest 500, and just checking every now and then to see how many 500's you can advance by. But to count exactly the right number it's easiest to count the larger numbers first, and when you can't count by them, just keep moving down the line. (As opposed to counting 20, 40, 60, 80, 100, etc). This way you have: 5 500's, 3 100's, 1 50, 2 20's, and the remainder of 8, for a grand total of 2898 edits thusfar. Keep up the good work. {{User:Thunderbird L17/Siggie}} 08:34, 21 January 2006 (UTC)
+
-
::::::There are many ways to play with those numbers. And these are two of them (Ohh! There's two of them!) {{User:E.L. Cool/sig}} 08:36, 21 January 2006 (UTC)
+
-
:::::::'''DOUBLE EDIT CONFLICT'D!:''' ''(Once by comment, once by archiving)'' Alright, I forgot to mention, it was alot easier to check with the previous version of MediaWiki. When you got to the end of the list it would tell you what number edit the list was starting with, so you could be accurate within 20 without even having to count. I'm not sure why they took that feature out... In any case, now you gotta put a bit more brainpower into counting them. {{User:Thunderbird L17/Siggie}} 08:41, 21 January 2006 (UTC)
+
-
::::::::Sorry for the conflict there. Yeah, that's weird. Maybe try to contact the people at MediaWiki to add a contrib counter on the next version. {{User:E.L. Cool/sig}} 08:49, 21 January 2006 (UTC)

:Amen to that. I feel for yah, buddy. In other news, I had a curious type question. Do you have like three different mailing addresses, one for english, one for Hebrew, and one for arabic or something? I dunno, that question just kinda flashed into my head the other day, and it's been bugging me ever since. {{User:Thunderbird L17/Siggie}} 09:18, 27 January 2006 (UTC)

Hey thanks for informing me you could have the wiki prompt you about the summary. I didn't know you could do that and it's become real helpful in fighting the uh, disease.  The disease I have that has impeded my ability to remember those things. lol.--{{User:Bleed0range/sig}} 06:39, 28 October 2006 (UTC)

::I don't get the question. Are you talking about a mailbox for mail written in English, one for mail written in Hebrew and so on; or that I have three addresses in which you can sand mail to, one address in each language? In both cases the answer is no. I have one address for all mail. You can write it in any language you want and it still be the same. I think I emailed you mine, no? {{User:E.L. :::Sorry, I should have been clearer. What I meant was that what if your street name was something like "Thomas Street" or something? How would you translate a street name that isn't a word/doesn't have a hebrew translation into hebrew? Does your street name have like three different translations? And if your street name was a word that you could translate, like "Potato Salad St", would you translate it Phonetically or LiteralLy? It's hard to quite explain what I'm getting at, but hopefully I succeded this time. Because I'm pretty sure that if somebody tried to write ''my'' address out in Korean or something, it would never arrive. It's purely a curiosity-type question. {{User:Thunderbird L17/Siggie}} 15:34, 27 January 2006 (UTC)

Is the E short for Elliot? [[User:Fireworks]] 15:38, 11 November 2006 (UTC)
-
::::Interesting question. Actually, the street name in English is a phonetic translation of the Hebrew name, not the litteral one. We all know that the capital of Israel is Jerusalem (ירושלים), but the street named after the city is written in the phonetic way: Yerushalaim St.. My street name will litteraly translated into The Hebrew Platoon St., but the sign will read HaGdud HaIvry St.. Does this answer your question? {{User:E.L. Cool/sig}} 17:59, 27 January 2006 (UTC)
+
:No, it's short for Elad, as it says so on my [[User:E.L._Cool#A_Little_About_Myself|user page]]. What made you think it was for Elliot? {{User:E.L. Cool/sig}} 10:42, 12 November 2006 (UTC)

About [http://www.hrwiki.org/index.php?title=dreamail&curid=4853&diff=257707&oldid=257662&rcid=203397 this] edit, there is actually such a thing as one dimension! Because there is only one dimension (length), width and height don't exist in this dimension at all! As a result, the world is just one straight line. Everything that exists in this world is about the size of a small dot. They can only go left or right along the line. They can't jump or go past each other so if someone is in front of you, you get stuck! Weird, huh? {{User:The Chort/sig}} 17:15, 6 February 2006 (UTC)

:You can say that again, but I already know that, thank you very much. What I was thinking, is that nothing can be 1D in the cartoon. If you can see it, then it's atleast 2D. {{User:E.L. Cool/sig}} 17:24, 6 February 2006 (UTC)
+
-
::That's right. 1D can't even exist in ''this'' dimension! If we draw a line, it still has a width so it is not truly 1D. {{User:The Chort/sig}} 17:27, 6 February 2006 (UTC)
+
-
:::Correct, but answer me this? How do you know that there aren't a whole bunch of invisable, undetectable, 0-1D objects around us? We can't see then even with the most powerfull of microscope. Does that mean they don't exist? {{User:E.L. Cool/sig}} 17:42, 6 February 2006 (UTC)
+
-
::::You have a point. I was just thinking logically. Perhaps there are 4D, 5D or even 6D objects everywhere around us! <small>Somehow.</small> {{User:The Chort/sig}} 19:33, 6 February 2006 (UTC)
+
-
:::::Well that depends on your definition of a dimension. Some say that dimension isn't limited to tangible objects, and that we live our lives traveling in the 4th Dimension: Time. Then add to that the cyberspace dimension, the electrical dimension, and the cupcake dimension, and we've got quite a web of demenshi in our world. <!--Yeah, I just made most of it up. :First of all, let me say that you have some good contribs under your belt, which I already wrote in the edit summary when I put you in. You got removed from the list for several reasons. Please read carefully, as I'm being as straightforward as possible, and please take it as constructive feedback for you so you can be a better editor and user.
 +
:You have too many user and user talk namespace contribs, that should be cut down and you should focus on main space with some talk page edits for a while. Leave your user page alone. Don't treat conversations like idle chatter, this is not IRC and people do not wish to know when you "log on" and when you "log off". We have patience to wait for your reply, even if it takes several hours. Also, don't snap on other users, even if you think they snapped on you first, doesn't matter if they are new, experienced or other. Be the bigger user. Take constructive criticism to heart and don't shut yourself from advice by blaming other people. I also noticed that said to be drinking cold ones while editing the wiki. Now, I don't know if you're referring to beer, but please try to edit the wiki only when sober.
 +
:Everything I said here was already said to you by other users on your talk page and various other talk pages. You would have stayed on the list, if only I saw you taking some of their advice and apply it instead of shrugging it off. I hope you learn from this, and you may wish to contribute the fine way that you do. :) {{User:E.L. Cool/sig}} 05:25, 10 January 2007 (UTC)

::::I had actually searched for them after I typed "nevermind", and they weren't there. The were inside {{tl|tick}}. I realized they must be caused by cached information not being updated quick enough to show the actual link information, thus making it hard to properly assess which files were still linked directly.  The images for {{tl|done}} and {{tl|todo}} have similar problems.  Dunno if the same has been done for them.  If it was up to me, I'd call it a bug! :) --[[User:Stux|Stux]] 07:58, 11 January 2007 (UTC)

Hi Elcool! I just checked out your user page, and saw my user name under "New Users I Like To Watch"! That made me really happy, especially since I'm up there with such users as Shwoo and  The Joe, (both users who have made a great impression on me too)! So thanks for that!
 +

 +
I'd also like to thank you for a different reason. When I first started editing on the wiki, I actually sent you an (embarrassing) email concerning an editing issue I had had. Well, you emailed me back, giving me tons of useful info about how to properly interact on the wiki talk pages! So thanks for that too! Okay, see ya 'round the wiki! {{User:4kai2lyn6/sig}} 23:08, 15 January 2007 (UTC)

:I'm very glad you noticed. That new list of users are for ones that's been here for less then 4 months and have less then 1000 contribs and still great editors in my opinion. Those who did major namespace contribs, had good and civil opinions on talk pages, helped other users in need and that are truly trying to be a better user for the sole propose of being a better user.
 +
:I remember your emails and I still keep them. I'm happy they got put into good use since I spent a good deal of time writing them. Have a good day, {{User:E.L. Cool/sig}} 05:18, 16 January 2007 (UTC)

So, what's it like in Israel? On the news in the USA, all we here is bombings, but there is obviously more to Israel than that. --[[User:Zerlock1124|Zerlock1124]]

 +
:Thanks for taking interest in my country, dude. There is much more to Israel then what you see on the news. As a matter of fact all the news does it distort the truth so it looks like the whole country is being bombarded, which is simply not true. We did had that war in the north two months ago, and one town is being fired at in the south<!--crap... that doesn't sound so inviting, now, is it?-->, but it doesn't affect the day-to-day life of the rest 98% of the country.
 +
:Beyond what you see in the news, we have a wonderful country, that's have almost every landscape but smaller (as we ''are'' small. About the size of New Jersey) - Forests, mountains, a snowy peak, a beautiful sea-shore, a coral reef (the most north in the world), lakes (including the lowest and only in the world - the Dead Sea!), a desert, small towns (like the various Kibbutzim), skyscraper cities, ancient cities, holy places... I don't think there's a single place our size in the whole world that have them all in a driving distance.
 +
:When we took our country from the British, most of were scattered all over the world. When we all immigrated (a process which is still going) there was a kind of a culture clash that gave us one unique culture of food, music, language, traditions and lifestyle.
 +
:If you'd like, I can explain more, as you see I'm very patriotic and love this place I call Israel. :) {{User:E.L. Cool/sig}} 17:31, 27 January 2007 (UTC)

Hey, E.L. Cool. Since we're both online together, I'd thought I'll ask you something. Do you still need these two images anymore:

 +
*[[:Image:TGSMenu11.PNG]]
 +
*[[:Image:Frappr200.PNG]]
 +

 +
Seeing as the first has been replaced and the second is not in use, I'd thought I'd help clear up the Wiki a little bit by possibly setting them up for deletion. If you still want to hold onto them, let me know and no futher action will be taken. Otherwise, I don't think there's any need to keep them. Cheerio, {{User:The Chort/sig}} 19:06, 7 March 2007 (UTC)
 +
:I don't see any compelling reason to delete those. &mdash; [[User:It's dot com|It's dot com]] 19:14, 7 March 2007 (UTC)

::About abandoned images: Our way of action so far have not to delete them, unless by the request of the user they used to belong to. Several months ago Me and Thunderbird cleaned the abandoned images of several inactive users, but I don't think that's going to happen again in the near future, unless some server problem is going to threaten us.
 +
::About unused old menus: Like the Toons Menu image, the TGS Menu image should also be updated in the same file name. I was wrong back then to upload it in a different name, so I want to check with the other sysops if we can delete it and what affect it will have on the page's history. {{User:E.L. :::I understand. It's just that some people remove personal images from their user pages and then forget about them completely. I just thought I could help by asking any active users if they want to keep them. If they don't want them deleted, that's fine. And I understand there's isn't a severe server problem that means we can't store unused personal images. I just wanted to help the wiki.  +
:Thanks man. I guess I missed it because all of the open tabs I had at the moment. I looked for the best way to archive and started with [[Talk:Main Page]]-style one, but I found we only used it for HRWiki talks, so I started again with the [[Talk:Strong Bad Email]] template you see now. So my tabs were kind of a mess, as you could see. {{User:E.L. Cool/sig}} 15:48, 16 March 2007 (UTC)

::Ah! Makes sense. I figured it was because it was the first archive for that page. I don't think that the Main Page Talk's archive style is used anywhere else (It might be kinda nice to see it a bit more though). Hi Elcool,<br/>
 +
Weclome back! I see you have come back with a bang! Also, this greeting is long overdue!  Although, personally, I'm not so sure all double redirects needed to be fixed it's still good to see that items that had been set aside for a long time are now back up to date! So, I think your housekeeping has been a positive for the wiki! <br/>
 +
Now, I saw somewhere that you mentioned interest in a [[Wikipedia:Discord (software)|discord]] server?  Personally I don't use discord (yet?) so I'm none-too-familiar with it except for I know IRC-discord bridges exist. It's been mentioned once before so your mention also caught my eye.  I'm still old school and lurking on IRC.  Feel free to visit, you might catch me there! ;) <br/>
 +
Finally, I find that you've transitioned to full-time astronomy absolutely fascinating! I'm a big fan of {{wp|PBS Spacetime}}, {{wp|Veritasium}} and the like! It's been a while since I've visited {{wp|APOD}} too. Staring up a telescope (or a screen tracking one) is something I wish I had time to do.  The light pollution where I live (and lack of any viewing equipment) doesn't help things! XD  Also congrats on getting "merried"! I hope you and Mrs. cool are doing well! <br/>
 +
I think that's it for now. Oh, yeah, as for me not much is new: I've been working with an [[Wikipedia:Intellectual Property|IP]] company for the last 6 years in the Metro Detroit area, working on paying down my debts.  I'm fortunate to be able to work from home but the workload can be rather stressful. ^_^; At least I've been on vacation this week which is nice.  More time to edit the wiki! :D Cheers!  --[[User:Stux|Stux]] 19:39, 29 November 2020 (UTC)

:Hi man! It's good to be back. Because of all the 2020 stuff going around, I'm finding myself at home more more as time goes on. So looking for distractions, I went back and watched a whole bunch of older toons, then I found [https://www.facebook.com/groups/homestarrunnercrapposting this] Facebook group, then [https://www.pipedreampodcasts.com/come-on-fhqwhpods this] podcast, then I thought to myself... Why not come back to the wiki? I bet there's stuff to do. Being on the wiki felt great all these years ago. The community, the feeling of creating something, being in a place where being pedantic and meticulous was the norm. I needed that. That's why the first thing I did was going over the Spaciel Pages seeing if there's any gnoming to do. I don't ''know'' if all those double redirects ''needed'' to be fixed, but It was nice doing that anyways. Same with pages that were marked for speedy deletion FOR YEARS.
 +
:I also don't use Discord. Like, I have a username I registered just to see a discussion this one time, but I don't think I'm part of a community that have one that I feel like I want to discuss things with them on that level... Except for HRWiki. I still remember hanging on IRC for hours, just shooting the breeze... I still want this experience, but just, y'know, adopted for the 20's.
 +
:Doing astronomy teaching full time IS the best job ever! Seeing excited childrem <small>(Mainly on Zoom now...)</small> looking wide-eyed on all the space nerdity I love. And yeah, those Youtube channeles you mentioned are some great resources I use to find way to simply explain complicated topics. ::Oh wow, a podcast that's actively publishing content about Homestar runner!  That's crazy and cool! I wish I had time to listen to some episodes (maybe I'll listen to one).  Work makes it hard for me to make time for things such as this. My vacation ended too :( *pouts*.  Oh well.

:::<blockquote> The community, the feeling of creating something, being in a place where being pedantic and meticulous was the norm. I needed that.</blockquote>
 +
::I can totally relate to that.  Especially the "pendantic and meticulous" part! Man how time flies...  We're already in the 20's, but why is it not roaring?  Maybe it's a different kind of roar.

::Even at my age I go wide eyed at the things I see and read about when it comes to astronomy! My heart broke when I heard the news of the collapse of the {{wp|Arecibo Telescope}}, especially since I'm from Puerto Rico! I look forward to whatever comes next but the next big thing, {{wp|Gravitational-wave astronomy}}, is still in its infancy and decades away from maturing.  I'm hoping one day we'll get to have a "gravitational CCD" detector of sorts, even if it's the size of our solar system.  In the meantime, I'd settle for reconstructing the Arecibo Radiotelescope.

I started adding Sbemail menu descriptions yesterday, because someone had added them to some kinda robot through lures and jigs, even though this guy didn’t have the clear yet. This is considered vandalism, so please give this guy a warning or something. (The edits for some reason aren’t  in the history section for some reason). this was created in responce to a conversation here. It was talked about a while ago and I decided to try implementing it. It would be used on other pages only on a case by case basis if it was decided to be useful there. Thank you for the concern. Olleicua 16:34, 8 October 2006 (UTC)

Hey thanks for informing me you could have the wiki prompt you about the summary. I didn't know you could do that and it's become real helpful in fighting the uh, disease. Hurrah! So I missed the little tea-party you probably had on IRC, so what? There will be other things to party about. By this Thursday I'll be free (or free-er) for WikiStuff. If you noticed, I did do some work on the various SBEmail lists for the new email, so I'm not as stressed as I was the week before. In this job I can schedule in what time of day I want to work, so maybe I'll leave wiki-heavy days free in US time rush hours for days like X-dween and some Mondays (We already have a guy in our group who asked Wednesdays off so he can play World of Warcraft...) [edit] Help out

  • Hey, I'm thinking about creating a new page, but I don't know what to call it and I don't know all of its info. The page will be about interuppted names Strong Bad usually starts sounding out before getting interrupted by someone. Such as in bottom 10: He says, "and the number one spot in my bottom 10 is... Th--" and then gets interrupted. Please help out. I am sending this to all sysops. --TheYellowDart(t/c)

[edit] Tears Fall

...I guess I don't have a good impression on you anymore. I guess I have a horrible future here... TheYellowDart(t/c)

First of all, let me say that you have some good contribs under your belt, which I already wrote in the edit summary when I put you in. You got removed from the list for several reasons. Please read carefully, as I'm being as straightforward as possible, and please take it as constructive feedback for you so you can be a better editor and user.
You have too many user and user talk namespace contribs, that should be cut down and you should focus on main space with some talk page edits for a while.
Everything I said here was already said to you by other users on your talk page and various other talk pages. You would have stayed on the list, if only I saw you taking some of their advice and apply it instead of shrugging it off. I hope you learn from this, and you may wish to contribute the fine way that you do. :) Elcool (talk)(contribs) 05:25, 10 January 2007 (UTC)
Hey, you're right. But i must say this: ROTFLOL! "Contribute when you are sober." ha ha. I don't drink. It's just a joke to play when I say something stupid. I'm a teenager. That would be illegal. Thanks for all of your help and I will learn to be the bigger user. Best wishes, TheYellowDart(t/c)
Well, I'm not implying anything, but some teenagers drink, so I kinda took those statements literally... Thanks for reading all that, and most importantly - Have fun wikiing! Elcool (talk)(contribs) 05:26, 11 January 2007 (UTC)

The only thing that's left is your subpage, but I couldn't find where the link to the image is. Can you help? Elcool (talk)(contribs) 05:19, 11 January 2007 (UTC)
done! I R F 06:19, 11 January 2007 (UTC)
I had actually searched for them after I typed "nevermind", and they weren't there. The were inside {{tick}}. I realized they must be caused by cached information not being updated quick enough to show the actual link information, thus making it hard to properly assess which files were still linked directly. The images for {{done}} and {{todo}} have similar problems. Dunno if the same has been done for them. If it was up to me, I'd call it a bug! :) --Stux 07:58, 11 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Wow! That's sooo cool of you!

Hi Elcool! I just checked out your user page, and saw my user name under "New Users I Like To Watch"! That made me really happy, especially since I'm up there with such users as Shwoo and The Joe, (both users who have made a great impression on me too)! So thanks for that!

I'd also like to thank you for a different reason. When I first started editing on the wiki, I actually sent you an (embarrassing) email concerning an editing issue I had had. Well, you emailed me back, giving me tons of useful info about how to properly interact on the wiki talk pages! So thanks for that too! Okay, see ya 'round the wiki! kai lyn 23:08, 15 January 2007 (UTC)

I'm very glad you noticed. That new list of users are for ones that's been here for less then 4 months and have less then 1000 contribs and still great editors in my opinion. Those who did major namespace contribs, had good and civil opinions on talk pages, helped other users in need and that are truly trying to be a better user for the sole propose of being a better user.
I remember your emails and I still keep them. I'm happy they got put into good use since I spent a good deal of time writing them. Have a good day, Elcool (talk)(contribs) 05:18, 16 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Israel

So, what's it like in Israel? On the news in the USA, all we here is bombings, but there is obviously more to Israel than that. --Zerlock1124

Thanks for taking interest in my country, dude. There is much more to Israel then what you see on the news. As a matter of fact all the news does it distort the truth so it looks like the whole country is being bombarded, which is simply not true. We did had that war in the north two months ago, and one town is being fired at in the south, but it doesn't affect the day-to-day life of the rest 98% of the country.
Beyond what you see in the news, we have a wonderful country, that's have almost every landscape but smaller (as we are small.
When we took our country from the British, most of were scattered all over the world. When we all immigrated (a process which is still going) there was a kind of a culture clash that gave us one unique culture of food, music, language, traditions and lifestyle.
If you'd like, I can explain more, as you see I'm very patriotic and love this place I call Israel. :) Elcool (talk)(contribs) 17:31, 27 January 2007 (UTC)
I'm very curious about the Dead Sea. How big is it and what's it like? --Dacheatbot · Communicate 23:22, 27 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] "WA" Y WIKI??? WOW!!!!!

Well, hey, Elcool. I noticed you're a member of the Weird Al Wiki, and I am extremely excited. I always knew that there'd be other Al-oholics out there. (No, that's NOT a beer joke, it's what we fans call ourselves.) Set up a post on my talk page an we'll talk Al and H*R, OK? -WeirdAl (talk · 21:00, 9 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] These Personal Images Will Self-Destruct...

Hey, E.L. Cool. Since we're both online together, I'd thought I'll ask you something. Do you still need these two images anymore:

Seeing as the first has been replaced and the second is not in use, I'd thought I'd help clear up the Wiki a little bit by possibly setting them up for deletion. If you still want to hold onto them, let me know and no futher action will be taken. Otherwise, I don't think there's any need to keep them. Cheerio, – The Chort 19:06, 7 March 2007 (UTC)

I don't see any compelling reason to delete those. — It's dot com 19:14, 7 March 2007 (UTC)
About abandoned images: Our way of action so far have not to delete them, unless by the request of the user they used to belong to. Several months ago Me and Thunderbird cleaned the abandoned images of several inactive users, but I don't think that's going to happen again in the near future, unless some server problem is going to threaten us.
About unused old menus: Like the Toons Menu image, the TGS Menu image should also be updated in the same file name. I was wrong back then to upload it in a different name, so I want to check with the other sysops if we can delete it and what affect it will have on the page's history. Elcool (talk)(contribs) 19:16, 7 March 2007 (UTC)
I understand. Nevermind the bullocks, – The Chort 19:23, 7 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Archiving Delight

Hey E.L.Cool! What's up? I just wanted to let you know that you missed an archive linking there. That's all. So keep an eye on these things. Later! --Stux 15:45, 16 March 2007 (UTC)

Thanks man. I guess I missed it because all of the open tabs I had at the moment. I looked for the best way to archive and started with Talk:Main Page-style one, but I found we only used it for HRWiki talks, so I started again with the Talk:Strong Bad Email template you see now. So my tabs were kind of a mess, as you could see. Elcool (talk)(contribs) 15:48, 16 March 2007 (UTC)
Ah! Makes sense. I figured it was because it was the first archive for that page. I don't think that the Main Page Talk's archive style is used anywhere else (It might be kinda nice to see it a bit more though). Most archives I know follow somethink like the SBEmail Templates. --Stux 15:59, 16 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] E.L. Cool/templates

I figured you might like to be informed of this: your template page contains 40 HTML errors. This is because HTML does not support calling an ID more than once to utilize CSS. The simple fix to this problem is to change all id="navbox" lines to class="navbox".· · T2|Things 18:02, 29 May 2007 (UTC)

It looks perfect! But... You made a mistake. The forth letter is Talet (ד). You used Resh (ר). I know they are similar looking and why you were confused. Elcool (talk)(contribs) 00:17, 2 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Templates

Hey Cool! Thought I'd drop by to thank you for making Category:STUFF Templates. (I just noticed your flood of edits because I just woke up. Who eats breakfast these days anyway?) I'll make sure to give you credit on my userpage. But as a few final requests, the {{funfacts2}} template still bothers me, since we don't use it. That, and the {{checkstuffpage}} also belongs under STUFF Templates, but it was categorized before I suggested the new category. Thanks again! — SamSF%20sig.jpgFisher (Come in, Lambert.) 12:11, 17 November 2007 (UTC)

Hi man. I kinda did it without knowing you already categorized a million templates. I just went over the new special pages and looked for stuff to do. Now that I've looked at you contributions, you did an awesome job there with all the other templates! I don't know about funfacts2, but it's part of the wiki history, so we keep it. Just a couple more eons, and I'll be almost half your age, grandpa! ;) Elcool (talk)(contribs) 19:25, 24 December 2007 (UTC)
Let n be the number of years in an eon, and assuming that in two eons E.L. Cool will be exactly half Qermaq's age, we have:
20+2n=\frac{1}{2}\times(Q+2n)
Solving for Q we get:
2\times(20+2n)=Q+2n
40 + 4n = Q + 2n
Q = 40 + 2n
In geological terms, Q would be, on average: Q=40+2\times550,000,000=1,100,000,040. However, if we take the sidereal definition of an eon: Q=40+2\times1,000,000,000=2,000,000,040 (years). QED. The definitions of some variables and values are left for the reader to determine. --Stux 21:26, 24 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Weclome back!

Hi Elcool,
Weclome back! I see you have come back with a bang! Also, this greeting is long overdue! Although, personally, I'm not so sure all double redirects needed to be fixed it's still good to see that items that had been set aside for a long time are now back up to date! So, I think your housekeeping has been a positive for the wiki!
Now, I saw somewhere that you mentioned interest in a discord server? Personally I don't use discord (yet?) so I'm none-too-familiar with it except for I know IRC-discord bridges exist. It's been mentioned once before so your mention also caught my eye. I'm still old school and lurking on IRC. Feel free to visit, you might catch me there! ;)
Finally, I find that you've transitioned to full-time astronomy absolutely fascinating! I'm a big fan of PBS Spacetime, Veritasium and the like! It's been a while since I've visited APOD too. Staring up a telescope (or a screen tracking one) is something I wish I had time to do. The light pollution where I live (and lack of any viewing equipment) doesn't help things! XD Also congrats on getting "merried"! I hope you and Mrs. cool are doing well!
I think that's it for now. Oh, yeah, as for me not much is new: I've been working with an IP company for the last 6 years in the Metro Detroit area, working on paying down my debts. I'm fortunate to be able to work from home but the workload can be rather stressful. ^_^; At least I've been on vacation this week which is nice. More time to edit the wiki! :D Cheers! --Stux 19:39, 29 November 2020 (UTC)

Hi man! It's good to be back. Because of all the 2020 stuff going around, I'm finding myself at home more more as time goes on. So looking for distractions, I went back and watched a whole bunch of older toons, then I found this Facebook group, then this podcast, then I thought to myself... I don't know if all those double redirects needed to be fixed, but It was nice doing that anyways. Same with pages that were marked for speedy deletion FOR YEARS.
I also don't use Discord.
Doing astronomy teaching full time IS the best job ever! Seeing excited childrem (Mainly on Zoom now...) looking wide-eyed on all the space nerdity I love. And yeah, those Youtube channeles you mentioned are some great resources I use to find way to simply explain complicated topics. Also, Mr. Weinberger-Cool send her regards (she kept her last name) Elcool (talk)(contribs) 07:55, 2 December 2020 (UTC)
First and foremost, for the record, I wasn't trying to passively aggressively point out a typo. I legitimately thought you had made a portmanteau of "merry" and "married"! I thought it was cool so I wanted to point it out! Well, anyway, now I know better ^_^;
Oh wow, a podcast that's actively publishing content about Homestar runner! That's crazy and cool! I wish I had time to listen to some episodes (maybe I'll listen to one). Work makes it hard for me to make time for things such as this. My vacation ended too :( *pouts*. Oh well.
The community, the feeling of creating something, being in a place where being pedantic and meticulous was the norm. I needed that.
I can totally relate to that. Especially the "pendantic and meticulous" part! XD But it feels good to contribute something to this wiki, even if it's about "dumb animal characters". That's probably why I still edit to the wiki on and off after all these years! Man how time flies... We're already in the 20's, but why is it not roaring? Maybe it's a different kind of roar.
Even at my age I go wide eyed at the things I see and read about when it comes to astronomy! My heart broke when I heard the news of the collapse of the Arecibo Telescope, especially since I'm from Puerto Rico! I look forward to whatever comes next but the next big thing, Gravitational-wave astronomy, is still in its infancy and decades away from maturing. I'm hoping one day we'll get to have a "gravitational CCD" detector of sorts, even if it's the size of our solar system. In the meantime, I'd settle for reconstructing the Arecibo Radiotelescope.
Finally, please send my regards back to Mrs. Weinberger-Cool! I hope she shares some of your interest in Astronomy and Homestar. (Btw you wrote "Mr." above :-P ). --Stux 12:47, 4 December 2020 (UTC)

[edit] vandalism?

I started adding Sbemail menu descriptions yesterday, because someone had added them to some kinda robot through lures and jigs, even though this guy didn’t have the clear yet. This is considered vandalism, so please give this guy a warning or something. (The edits for some reason aren’t in the history section for some reason). Thank you, and go and suck your thumb.
