[edit] Using Show Preview

Hello TMBGLOVER, I see that you have made several consecutive edits to the same page. I want to point out the Show Preview button. It's right next to the Save Page button when you edit. You should use it whenever you are making a lot of experimental edits, for example when you are trying to get formatting right. Using the Show Preview button is quicker and easier than saving and clicking "edit" again, and will keep recent changes and page histories from being flooded. For what it's worth, the Brothers Chaps don't have anything unique to say about most of the hundreds of Strong Bad costumes they get each year, but that doesn't mean they don't care about them. They chose to feature a wall just because they had something to say about it, not because it was more important. I didn't make it into the Fan Costumes in 2008, but I still cared about Homestar Runner; not because of what the creators thought, but because of what I thought. I won't convince you to stick around if you don't want to, but if you were correct that no one in the world gives a crap about you, no one else would've contributed to this discussion. That’s it. I need somebody on this wiki to help me. You see, back in 2022, r/place happened for a second time on Reddit. I met a really nice user on there. We shared a lot of interests, music wise. But, however, 4 days ago I got permanently banned from Reddit. And I never got to tell my friend goodbye. I was wondering if any wiki user could help me with this. Because my IP got permanently banned, and it won’t let me log in. Now I'm looking in the Sandbox for the images mentioned in the random asset generator that Gfd placed there. The brains are image number 41. Image number 16 is a chair. I still don't understand what Gfd is asking me to type here. I typed "MIIsBJ941" (the url of image 16 plus the number 41), but that's not the right answer. The image is 317 * 109 pixels. Multiplied, that's 34553. Using Special:Shortpages, I found a page that is exactly 34554 bytes, Store Front Page News 2008. Then, I removed everything except the consonants from the first sentence on the page and typed it in. This got me to an image of a page history with an arrow pointing up and the first letter of several usernames highlighted. Okay. Using timestamps, I figured out that the image is the history log for the page F-Sack. Two of the usernames in the image are blurred, but accessing the history page revealed them to me. I typed in the highlighted letters from the bottom up and got the fifth clue. These things are getting increasingly complicated. I got that part by brute force. I was able to figure out the word, but I just had to start at 1 and type numbers up until one worked. Then comes the tricky part.
I think I left a clue in a recent edit summary that Gfdgsgxgzgdrc will understand as to how far I am. And I know what the part before the single slash on the last line of the page after that translates to, but I don't know why, and I'm guessing I'll need to know why to figure out what the remainder of the line translates to. HOLD ON!!! I THINK I FIGURED SOME OF IT OUT!!! I went to the The Only Girl page and clicked on the first interwiki link, which was Marzipan. The first interwiki link on that page was Characters. The first (I ignored the disambiguation template) interwiki link on that page was Homestar Runner (body of work). The first interwiki link on THAT page (again, ignoring the disambig) was Flash. The first interwiki link on that page was The Brothers Chaps. The first interwiki link on that page is Mike Chapman. The first interwiki link on that page is The Brothers Chaps. That's the loop between one man (Mike) and a small group (TBC). So I got the first part figured out. A ribbon

The only template on the Mike Chapman page is (sectionstub). I tacked on one-digit numbers until I got to an image of Homestar dancing with Marzipan at the senior prom (the sixth clue). Because the image has redacted the page where the image is linked to, I looked into the gallery of all of HRWiki's images, sorted by the date it was uploaded, and found that it's on the page Women and Men. Combine that page name with the redacted number, and I got to the seventh clue, which links to four different images. I chose the first, since the others weren't helpful. This is an image showing a list of holiday toons with two titles blurred out. Using educated guesses, I figured one was Rotten Eggs and the second was Decemberween in July. That led me to the last clue. There's a URL at the bottom but the letters are scrambled; I don't know how to decode it properly.

GUYS! It’s a Vigenere Cipher code! There’s a key (a word you use to decode it) and you have to use a giant chart with 26 columns and letters! I figured it was something like that; I could tell it was a rotating code, although I would have said "something like an Enigma code". But, that gave me enough to solve the final clue. What, is that like "write down every letter in the alphabet, put a word or phrase in the front, and let the remaining letters fall on the end"? I tried that. But I don't know any URLs that begin with three of the same letter, or end with a double letter, even assuming it's a tinyurl. That's already been done on the Wikipedia page about Vigenère Ciphers. And since you've been so intent on giving away the solutions rather than just providing hints that will help people figure it out for themselves, I can at least give away that...no, I still can't. However, Gfdgsgxgzgdrc has used a certain web address to start every link, and this one is no different. Knowing [what the first half of the last line translated to] helped me to reverse-engineer the key using the grid on the Wikipedia page I linked. Aside from that, I'm debating whether I should tell you something else that would make the deciphering process even easier... but for now I'll let you figure that out on your own. Go to Gfd's userpage link. There is a key written in the brackets at the end. Then, go to the website. Type the scrambled URL into the top box and type the key into the box that says "knowing the key". Click "decrypt". An unscrambled URL should come right out. -- 68.37.43.131 23:12, 7 May 2023 (UTC)

Well, even using the key “THEFINALSTEP” it still comes out as a random jumble of letters that is absolutely NOWHERE near an actual URL. We've made the instructions very, very clear. We don't know what you're doing incorrectly.

1. Paste the text aaxua://giyqnva.vvq/yprtcmxyhxytforpcsgo in the box labeled "Vigenere Ciphertext".

2. Under "Decryption Method", type THEFINALSTEP into the box that says "Knowing the key/password".

3. Click the icon that says "►Decrypt".

4. On the left side of the page is a column that says "results". There should be only one result.

I want to say I made it too hard, but honestly, the fact that DEIDATVM solved the whole thing on his own within the first day makes me feel slightly more validated about the difficulty (even if there are still some things I think I should have made clearer). So, I guess I just feel like I should've added some sort of terms and conditions: "By participating in the userpage hunt, you hereby agree to quit if you are feeling annoyed, and acknowledge that this is meant to be a fun little thing that doesn't really matter and isn't worth anyone's frustration.
