The year 1987 is the most-referenced year from the '80s in the Homestar Runner universe.

The DVD commentary for monster truck discusses Halloween 1987, when Donnie Chapman dressed as Vince Neil of Mötley Crüe (photographs of which would be used to depict Limozeen) and Matt Chapman dressed as Evel Knievel. At Flashforward 2006 Seattle, Mike mentioned that Matt won an award at a media festival for stop motion clay animation when he was in the seventh grade in 1987.
