[edit] Should LucasArts Really Be Part of George Lucas?

The summary of the George Lucas article is about his works, and the games at LucasArts were never made by George Lucas. There seems to be more than enough references to have the articles be separate. I think it's better to move the LucasArts games to LucasArts rather than have it be part of a redirect, and have George Lucas be included as a see also on that page. I agree. The content on this page has expanded beyond Lucas's own works. -132.183.151.213 18:10, 20 December 2010 (UTC)

[edit] Belong(s) in a Museum

Are those four words really exclusive to one franchise of films? I honestly don't think so, and all the references on this page that include them (especially the one where Strong Bad says the paintings in his office belong in a museum) seem sort of arbitrary to me. While they're not entirely exclusive to Indy, it IS one of his catchphrases and most famous quotes. The references should stay, in my opinion. — Defender1031*Talk 23:28, 19 August 2012 (UTC)

[edit] Splitting out "Star Wars" and "Indiana Jones" into their own articles

Really only two jokes ("Where'd you get that name?", SOMEONE ruined my childhood) are directly referencing George Lucas himself. Compared to other directorial pages it doesn't seem that Jones and Star Wars need to be merged.

  • Stanley Kubrick discusses four movies. The movies only have 1-4 references each, most of them not having enough for inclusion, so it makes sense to compile them in this manner. In addition, Kubrick directed, produced, and was among the screenwriters for all four.
  • David Lynch primarily discusses Twin Peaks, making it clear that Lynch was only the co-creator. The "Other" references on their own would also likely not be enough for a non-Peaks "David Lynch" article, so it again works to have the two concepts merged.

Right from the beginning, "Star Wars" as a franchise frequently consisted of spinoffs that Lucas himself was not involved in — such as the 1983 arcade game, the Marvel Comics adaptation, a 1997 computer game referenced in H*R. Although Lucas originated the idea for "Indiana Jones", Spielberg directed the first four movies so it seems odd that the wiki frames the series solely as Lucas'.

In addition, post-2012 (with LucasFilm sold to Disney and Lucas in "semi-retirement", both franchises are in a far different place than they were in 2008 when this article was created. A joke about BB-8 references a movie that Lucas had little direct involvement in. Although it hasn't been referenced (yet?) the fifth Indiana Jones movie only featured Lucas as a vague "executive producer" rather the story developer and writer he served as in the first four entries. As such I don't think "George Lucas" works as a figurehead for either series anymore.

The article still has merit, such as with the aforementioned direct references or the few non-Wars/Jones entries, as well as a clearer explanation of the connection to LucasArts. But I think "Star Wars" and "Indiana Jones" are long overdue for their own articles. -- Bleu Ninja 21:44, 7 September 2023 (UTC)

Overall, I like the idea. "Star Wars" and "Indiana Jones" already redirect here, so we could take advantage of that. Some pages already link to the redirects but other pages would have to be double-checked and updated accordingly. The subheaders here can simply link to the main articles. There is also the lazy option of moving the content to a Lucasfilm page (which also redirects here). ;) --Stux 22:17, 7 September 2023 (UTC)
