Monty Python were a British comedy troupe consisting of John Cleese, Terry Gilliam, Eric Idle, Michael Palin, Graham Chapman, and Terry Jones. Most active in the 1970s, the group is renowned for its groundbreaking comedy performances that used a distinctively absurd, satirical, and surreal sense of humor. The Pythons frequently created bizarre characters with memorable appearances, mannerisms, and catch phrases.

The Homestar Runner body of work utilizes a somewhat similar tone of quick-witted stream-of-consciousness comedy with an often absurd and surreal bent, with Monty Python as a clear influence on The Brothers Chaps. Most frequently referenced are skits from the sketch show Monty Python's Flying Circus or moments from the movie Monty Python and the Holy Grail.

• The Heavy Lourde — Monty Python's Flying Circus had a similar running gag with a 16-ton weight dropped on unwitting victims.
• The House That Gave Sucky Treats — Homestar Runner mistakenly compliments Strong Bad's costume as being "the Spanish Inquisition", in reference to the Monty Python sketch of the same name. The popular sketch featured Inquisitors in red garb, similar to Strong Bad's Carmen Sandiego costume.
• Parsnips A-Plenty — A climactic duel is abridged by a "scene missing" card. A similar gag is used in a skit in Flying Circus, where the scene of the characters' escape from a firing squad is "missing".
• Peasant's Quest Movie Trailer — The Blue Knight's face guard slamming down over his face after he says his last line is reminiscent of Monty Python and the Holy Grail, in which the face guard of Sir Bedevere's helmet slams down after he says many of his lines.
• Stinkoman 20X6 (Level 9) — Stinkoman refers to a group of Prudench as "prawn salad". A sketch from Flying Circus takes place at Prawn Salad Ltd.
• Peasant's Quest Outtakes — Matt Chapman impersonates a Gumby, wearing his wig in the manner of their handkerchiefs.
• Sketchbook (16 Feb 2006) — A sketch of The Poopsmith in an intimidating pose is labeled "None shall pass." This is a quote by the Black Knight from Monty Python and the Holy Grail, who staunchly guards a bridge with life and limb.
• Thy Dungeonman 3 — The ancient hag begins her line of questioning with "If ye answers questions three..." This is a reference to Holy Grail, in which the old man at the Bridge of Death insists anyone who would cross must first "answer me these questions three..."
• Strong Badia the Free —
  • In Country, Strong Mad guards the Stone Bridge with an imposing shout of "NONE SHALL PASS" in another reference to the Black Knight from Holy Grail.
  • The fish skeleton in The King of Town's Castle is identified as an "ex-fish", referencing the "ex-parrot" from the Python's Dead Parrot sketch.
• 8-Bit is Enough —
  • Strong Bad's remark about the peasants starting a commune is a reference to Holy Grail, specifically the scene in which peasants explain they are an anarcho-syndicalist commune.
  • Sluushfuund guards the entrance to the Trog-Cave. If Strong Bad attempts to enter, the wizard tells him that "None shall pass!" à la the Black Knight from Holy Grail.
• 2022 Costume Pack Now Available — Homestar dresses as the Black Knight from Holy Grail, portraying the knight after Arthur has cut off both of his arms. He also tries to quote the knight's famous "It's just a flesh wound" line, but due to his speech impediment it sounds more like "fresh wound".
