HRWiki:Featured article for 2008, week 23 (Jun 2-8)
How about doing a short? Like an OLD short, such as... Strong Bad Sings? MHarrington 06:23, 24 March 2008 (UTC)
- I'd go with that.
Sam the Man
21:52, 25 March 2008 (UTC)
- Do you think there's enough content there for a decent writeup? It's a pretty short toon with no real plot, so I'm not so sure. Maybe someone would like to take a stab at it in their userspace and see if we can get a writeup? Heimstern Läufer
23:23, 31 March 2008 (UTC)
- Well then, how about Kick the Can? MHarrington 02:19, 14 April 2008 (UTC)
- You know, let's just get Sweet Cuppin Cakes out of the way, huh? MHarrington 05:28, 27 April 2008 (UTC)
- I thought we were doing that in week 22...? Heimstern Läufer
05:33, 27 April 2008 (UTC)
- Well, what of the music-themed email week that Sam the Man suggested? Of course, I'm fine with doing that one this week if we're going to be doing Sweet Cuppin Cakes the week before. MHarrington 21:16, 27 April 2008 (UTC)
- I thought it was quite clear that discussion had moved away from the musical email week for week 22 in toward Sweet Cuppin' Cakes. Heimstern Läufer
21:21, 27 April 2008 (UTC)
- I didn't suggest the music week, that was Qermaq. Kick The Can could work.
Sam the Man

- Oh, sorry, I thought it was Sam the Man. MHarrington 06:33, 29 April 2008 (UTC)

Whichever week gets Strong bads cool game should feature that article. It'll probably be this week so i propose it! Physicsguymonsterman 19:06, 12 May 2008 (UTC)
- As stated elsewhere SBCG4AP is far too new to be a featured article yet. I doubt it will even be considered for featuring until all 5 1st season episodes are out, at least. Earliest practically would be 2009. Though I will admit that the article is shaping up to be fine FA material... just not right now. wbwolf (t | ed) 04:37, 13 May 2008 (UTC)
- Well, now that Sweet Cuppin Cakes has been selected for Week 22, let's try to do Qermaq's proposal for the music-themed email week, huh? We haven't done a seven-day article week for a while. I don't mind waiting a while for doing Kick the Can. MHarrington 16:06, 25 May 2008 (UTC)
- I am strongly opposed to doing any more seven day FAs. I will support doing Kick The Can for this week, or maybe one of the music emails, like techno or guitar. wbwolf (t | ed) 22:36, 25 May 2008 (UTC)
- Wbwolf, we have a rather long tradition of doing daily FAs on occasion, and I don't think that's going to stop because you oppose it. I'd be in support of a music week eventually, though I would guess not this week. Heimstern Läufer
23:12, 25 May 2008 (UTC)
- I don't expect to stop, but I do wish that the proposal for dailies wasn't seeming once a month (or less). That is mainly why I oppose doing it, so hopefully they become less frequently proposed and better conceived. My other concern in this case of music week is that some of the emails that were proposed to be part of it really do deserve to have a full week (techno especially off the top of my head), rather than just one day. Show me a week list of mid-level music related emails, and I will support it. wbwolf (t | ed) 23:43, 25 May 2008 (UTC)
- Here's the list, though it doesn't have to be in any particular order: guitar, techno, death metal, different town, concert, candy product and rock opera. We could probably replace techno with marzipan, though, if we had to. MHarrington 18:25, 26 May 2008 (UTC)

I've gone ahead and made the writeup for Kick the Can, the article that seemed to have the highest level of support.
I think the idea of the music week should be pursued eventually (though I agree with Wbwolf that techno probably deserves its own week, and possibly concert as well). caper is another musical email that might work in a set of dailies.
If I may make a little comment about this week's discussion: I think it illustrates something we need to do better: discussing featured articles and paying attention to what others suggest rather than just throwing out ideas. Because we sometimes just sort of threw out ideas, the discussion became really convoluted, and it was hard for me to determine consensus. Just my two cents. Heimstern Läufer 21:08, 1 June 2008 (UTC)
HRWiki:Featured article for 2008, week 24 (Jun 9-15)
I'm up for an important place. There always been The Field, The Stick and Homestar Runner's House? However, The Field would drastically need an intro cleanup, and The Stick would need an intro cleanup too. Homestar Runner's House is the best choice, so I'd go with that. That's always been around since like day 5. Unless anybody else can think of something else, I'm for Homestar's House. Sam the Man
21:52, 25 March 2008 (UTC)
- Of the three, I'd say we do Homestar Runner's House. Of course, The Stick and especially The Field have been around forever, but as you said they need to be updated, so the armless white guy's abode would be the best bet. MHarrington 01:44, 21 April 2008 (UTC)
- Maintenance coming in: We're going to far out in terms of dates right now. We're now talking about eleven weeks ahead of today; we really should keep the discussions a little closer than this. Go ahead and discuss this one, but could we please not add any more weeks for a bit? Thanks. Resume discussion. Heimstern Läufer

A Folky Tale? Full-length toon with quite a bit of content, not to mention funny. Heimstern Läufer 04:50, 7 April 2008 (UTC)
- I hate to burst your bubble, but if we're going to be featuring A Jorb Well Done for Week 20, then maybe we should do something else, so that we don't have to worry about exhausting everything instantly. I think that's what you said about "Homestar and Marzipan's Relationship". I would like to feature this, though; just not so soon. MHarrington 05:06, 7 April 2008 (UTC)
- Well, the comparison is not exactly valid. There are many toon articles that can be featured, but few relationship articles. Heimstern Läufer
05:10, 7 April 2008 (UTC)
- Well, alright, I guess we can do it, then. MHarrington 06:26, 12 April 2008 (UTC)
- Wait, I got a better idea. Why don't we just do Saddy Dumpington, the character? MHarrington 21:07, 23 April 2008 (UTC)
- I like that idea. Not many Strong Sad variants get featured, and this article has an extensive write up (more than enough to act as a teaser and justify the More) wbwolf (t | ed) 04:34, 3 May 2008 (UTC)
- And besides, when I said something about exhausting the toons, I meant big toons. MHarrington 06:12, 19 May 2008 (UTC)
- Sure. Just keep in mind Folky Tale for a future FA. Heimstern Läufer

How about Summer Short Shorts? It would have to be summer by now. MHarrington 01:36, 21 April 2008 (UTC)
- Sounds like a fine idea to me. (Although interestingly enough, my local school district only gets out of school this very week, so summer will only be beginning here!) Heimstern Läufer

Since we already featured Happy Fireworks, how about Cardboard Marzipan? Bad Bad Guy 21:19, 23 April 2008 (UTC)
- I guess we could do that. Another thing we should try is Fireworks. Of course, that one would need to be updated drastically. MHarrington 21:42, 23 April 2008 (UTC)
- Yeah, which is too bad, since Fireworks is definitely better connected to July 4th. But then, there's no obligation to do a July 4th article, so there's no harm in doing a one with a loose connection like Carboard Marzi. Heimstern Läufer
03:33, 24 April 2008
- On the other hand, if we're going to do Saddy two weeks prior, this could be a bit of an overdose of character variations. Heimstern Läufer
21:12, 1 June 2008 (UTC)
- As an alternative, how about something tangentially related? Like how Homestar Runner wants to dress up as Uncle Sam in Strong Bad Is A Bad Guy? (I know, I know, it's a stretch....) wbwolf (t | ed) 05:59, 2 June 2008 (UTC)

Have we featured The Announcer yet? If so, how about Homestarloween Party? --Technochocolate 03:49, 24 April 2008 (UTC) Or specially marked.
- Getting pretty far out in advance again; let's not go any further than this week for a bit, OK?
- We haven't featured The Announcer yet. That article could possibly use some expansion before featuring, but it's a possibility. Homestarloween Party's been featured (and we usually save Halloween toons to be featured at Halloween, anyway). Heimstern Läufer
03:54, 24 April 2008 (UTC)
- Yeah, let's slow down a little bit, huh? MHarrington 08:08, 24 April 2008 (UTC)
- Ten weeks is enough. I think we have 12 now. Let's hold it to 10 - guideline suggestion? Question mark? The Announcer works for me. - Qermaq - (T/C)
01:47, 25 April 2008 (UTC)
- First, The Announcer sounds reasonable to me, but secondly, let's slow way down a little bit, huh? We keep getting too far out ahead. Let's add more once we get below five or six weeks ahead (by then, the first 26 weeks will likely be in the archives and it'll be time for weeks 27 through 52). In the meantime, if it's any comfort to you, we can keep discussing ideas for the weeks that are already on here. MHarrington 19:48, 11 May 2008 (UTC)

One of the Thy Dungeonman games. Empaire 12:38, 5 May 2008 (UTC)
- How about an actual person? Say, Missy Palmer or Ryan Sterritt? MHarrington 06:54, 17 May 2008 (UTC)
- As important as Missy is to H*R, her write up is a bit thin. Ryan's page is actually of decent length. May I also suggest Y-O-U as a possibility (their contributions have been key a number of TBC's musical projects). wbwolf (t | ed) 06:05, 2 June 2008 (UTC)
- No. It is one of the Dungeonman games or else. Since we have already featured the Dungeonman himself and ye flask, it makes sense to feature one of the Dungeonman games. Empaire 10:19, 2 June 2008 (UTC)
- Umm, no, it's not "one of the Dungeonman games or else". You don't get to make decisions like that. I'd say we ought to feature Ryan, personally. Heimstern Läufer
