[edit] HRWiki:Featured article for 2007, week 41 (Oct 8-14)

How about a series of food related iTems: Bread, Ice Cream, Mountain Dew, Concoctions, Homestar Jr., and Grumblecakes (Not sure why Eggs is not nominated...) wbwolf (t | ed) 15:51, 8 September 2007 (UTC)

Well, it is pretty recently after our last set of dailies, more recently than usual. But I'm cool with it if the community is interested. Heimstern Läufer 18:46, 12 September 2007 (UTC)
Most of those pages seem to short to be featured. --Trogga 20:56, 12 September 2007 (UTC)
That's why I felt they would make good daily articles; they are thematically related, but are a bit on the short side to feature for a full week. wbwolf (t | ed) 21:34, 12 September 2007 (UTC)
Some of these seem a bit too short even for dailies, though, as I look at them. Even a daily feature needs to have (1) enough prose content to make a writeup for the main page and (2) content beyond this writeup (not necessarily prose) so that the "more" link we include is not false advertising. I'm not sure all these articles are there. Heimstern Läufer 17:02, 14 September 2007 (UTC)
Going by that criteria, I would say Bread (marginal), Mountain Dew, Concoctions (would need expanded intro), and Grumblecakes would work. Let's add in Fluffy Puff Marshmallows, Potate, and Bronco Trolleys into the mix. wbwolf (t | ed) 19:48, 14 September 2007 (UTC)
All right, but Bread and Concoctions both need expansion for this to work. Heimstern Läufer 00:32, 25 September 2007 (UTC)
I've expanded Bread a bit, but I'm having a hard time with Concoctions. Heimstern Läufer 00:06, 26 September 2007 (UTC)

All right, expanded. Here are our links:

Heimstern Läufer 17:27, 26 September 2007 (UTC)

Last year we only did one week with a new featured article every day. We've already done two this year. I think we should wait until next year or not feature it at all. Homestar-Winner (talk) 19:42, 26 September 2007 (UTC)
There's been lots of time to object, and by now work has been done on the articles to make them featurable. I really don't think it's fair to those who improved the articles to raise objections now. Heimstern Läufer 22:01, 26 September 2007 (UTC)
Specifically, I raised the issue of this being relatively recent after our last set of dailies two weeks ago (see near the top of this thread). As a set of dailies takes a while to set up, I started to push for us to be sure we could do this early, and likewise gave us our links early because it would need to be set up early. Heimstern Läufer 22:11, 26 September 2007 (UTC)
Yeah, okay. Sorry guys. Homestar-Winner (talk) 22:06, 26 September 2007 (UTC)
Since it seems as though no dailies, had about 'd? Techgeekmbg (Talk | contribs) 03:12, 1 October 2007 (left unsigned)
You seem to have misunderstood. We are in fact on for dailies (notice the links up there, not filled yet, but soon to be). Heimstern Läufer 03:14, 1 October 2007 (UTC)
Last-minute change? I'm thinking not Fluffy-Puffs, because that article is rather substantial and doesn't really need only one day of featuring, so I'm thinking maybe Melonade instead. Heimstern Läufer 19:51, 1 October 2007 (UTC)
I agree with Melonade. I made it's featured article, so were cool. User talk:Sam the Man Sam the Man 20:10, 1 October 2007 (UTC)
Those look great. Thanks Hamstray. Ramrod? wbwolf (t | ed) 03:38, 2 October 2007 (UTC)
No problem. Our weakest link is still Concoctions, so if anyone can think of a way to expand that a bit, that'd be great. Someone suggest that we feature Fluffy Puff Marshmallows for a whole week sometime, but obviously not too soon, since all that food would probably make people puke. (Speaking of which, someone should expand Puking to make it featurable.) Heimstern Läufer 04:02, 2 October 2007 (UTC)

How about Pants? Everybody knows about pants. And they have a built in bite on it, for security! No, wait. They don't. Anyways I think pants should be a fetured article...--Darkangel Get offa me! 03:10, 10 September 2007 (UTC)

Sounds OK. --Trogga 20:56, 12 September 2007 (UTC)
Sure. Gleaming pants! Glorious pants! Heimstern Läufer 17:08, 14 September 2007 (UTC)
Sounds great! Trey56 00:13, 27 September 2007 (UTC)
I agree that pants should be the featured article of Oct 15 to 21. Bluebry 13:28, 8 October 2007 (UTC)
I'm good with pants. The Goblin!! 22:27, 10 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] HRWiki:Featured article for 2007, week 43 (Oct 22-28)

Harmless Junk, Inc. hasn't been featured yet?!? Let's do that this week. --Mario2.PNG Super Martyo boing! 03:27, 10 September 2007 (UTC)

I'd rather see something a little more Halloweeny, like Marshie's Malloween Mix-Up. Y'know, since Halloween's next week. --Trogga 03:47, 10 September 2007 (UTC)
Harmless Junk isn't long enough for a featured article, and we already have Halloween featured articles.--~ SlipStream 05:53, 10 September 2007 (UTC)
That doesn't mean we can't feature Halloween articles the week before Halloween. --Trogga 06:21, 10 September 2007 (UTC)
Can I suggest we use Nebulon as the featured article this week? Long, well written, and a reoccuring character in Homestar.--~ SlipStream 06:43, 10 September 2007 (UTC)
I'd be cool with a pre-Halloween feature, per Trogga's suggestion (remember, Halloween is pretty much the biggest H*R holiday); however, Mashie's Malloween Mix-Up seems too short to be a good feature. What about something like That A Ghost? Heimstern Läufer 03:52, 12 September 2007 (UTC)
I kinda like doing Nebulon for this week. It's been a bit since we've featured a character, and Nebulon is vaguely Halloween-y. The Goblin would also work, but the article is not quite as good. wbwolf (t | ed) 19:36, 12 September 2007 (UTC)
Something Halloween-related is definitely in order for this week. Since it looks like we're featuring a bigger Halloween toon the following week, how about something shorter like Malloween Commercial? And we can even include a line in the write-up mentioning Marshie's Malloween Mix-Up, since that was suggested here. Trey56 00:15, 27 September 2007 (UTC)
I'd be cool with Malloween Commercial. Heimstern Läufer 18:11, 28 September 2007 (UTC)
Anyone else want to weigh in? We don't really have a clear consensus as yet. Heimstern Läufer 05:02, 17 October 2007 (UTC)
I have no problem with the Malloween Commercial as the featured article. As I stated above, Halloween themed for this week is preferred, whether it's a character or a ancillary short. The flying cotton ball should be on the front page occasionally. wbwolf (t | ed) 05:08, 17 October 2007 (UTC)
My vote is for the Malloween Commercial. Not hard to believe, is it? =] OptimisticFool 19:47, 17 October 2007 (UTC)
It would appear that we made a fortuitous selection for FA this time, hm? wbwolf (t | ed) 06:00, 22 October 2007 (UTC)
Yes, I'm really pleased they match so well! Trey56 06:02, 22 October 2007 (UTC)
Muchly. :-) Heimstern Läufer 06:02, 22 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] HRWiki:Featured article for 2007, week 44 (Oct 29-Nov 4)

The Halloween articles that are available are Halloween Fairstival, Happy Hallow-day, Main Page 7 and ghosts. Any preferences? wbwolf (t | ed) 04:21, 10 September 2007 (UTC)

I would say either Hallow-day or Fairstival, according to my pitiful memory, ghosts isn't even about halloween, and I don't think main pages should ever be featured.--~ SlipStream 05:55, 10 September 2007 (UTC)
We should feature Homestarloween Party, the toon that started it all. --Trogga 06:21, 10 September 2007 (UTC)
I was thinking about changing the featured article every day and progressing through all the Halloween toons from 2000-2004 (not counting sbemails, fan costume stuff, or either That a Ghost or Homestar vs. Little Girl 2) Bad Bad Guy 02:34, 11 September 2007 (UTC)
If we did that, what will we feature next Halloween? --Trogga 19:37, 11 September 2007 (UTC)
Homestarloween Party sounds fine to me. Heimstern Läufer 03:50, 12 September 2007 (UTC)
Sounds good to me. It seems like it was an oversight not to have it nominated in the first place. wbwolf (t | ed) 04:29, 12 September 2007 (UTC)
It's pretty common that we feature articles that have never been nominated. To be honest, I don't even read the nominations page anymore. Heimstern Läufer 18:35, 12 September 2007 (UTC)
Since we featured Halloween Potion-ma-jig last year, I think featuring Happy Hallow-day this year would be better to do. Homestar-Winner (talk) 00:33, 26 September 2007 (UTC)
Eh, I still think we ought to go back to our roots. There's no reason we have to always feature the toon from the previous year (if we do that, we'll never feature any of the older ones). Heimstern Läufer 00:45, 26 September 2007 (UTC)
I agree; I think Homestarloween Party is a better choice, mainly because Happy Hallow-day wasn't one of their best cartoons... Trey56 00:20, 27 September 2007 (UTC)
What do you mean it's not one of the best toons?! I love it! I vote Happy Hallow-Day. Religious Corn   19:38, 17 October 2007 (UTC)
Yeah, HH-D was their best one! The Goblin!! 21:56, 25 October 2007 (UTC)
You know, I did actually really like that toon. It was funny, and their costumes looked cool (even though I only knew 3 of them). Homestar-Winner (talk) 21:59, 25 October 2007 (UTC)
OK, now I have the unfortunate task of calling this one. And I'm going to end up going with Homestarloween Party. For those supporting Hallow-day, sorry it came so close and that I could only pick one. Heimstern Läufer 02:51, 27 October 2007 (UTC)
Fine by me. Homestar-Winner (talk) 17:18, 28 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] HRWiki:Featured article for 2007, week 45 (Nov 5-Nov 11)

One of the Thy Dungeonman games. 124.180.232.212 11:19, 13 September 2007 (UTC)

We're going to miss his birthday by a bit, but I suggest we feature Matt Chapman this week. Heimstern Läufer 15:31, 13 September 2007 (UTC)
I would respectfully disagree, especially since we did feature Mike earlier this year. Don't want to exhaust both of TBC in one year. How about something a little more obscure like Where The Crap Are We? That'll make a great front page article because it's something not on the site and may not be widely known. wbwolf (t | ed) 17:45, 17 October 2007 (UTC)
While I do like that toon, I'm seeing two problems with featuring it. First, it's quite brief, less than a minute long, and without a very substantial plot, making it rather hard to make a substantial writeup. Secondly, the title is still technically non-canonical. Not a big deal for an article, by and large, but makes me a bit hesitant to put it on the main page. (It's mainly the first concern that makes me hesitant, though.) As for featuring two Chaps in the same year, well, it was kind of my idea that we'd treat them equally and give them both a feature. True, Matt probably wouldn't have his feelings hurt if we don't feature him. Anyway, that was my reasoning. Heimstern Läufer 18:05, 17 October 2007 (UTC)
We need some more input soon, as this is going live in a few days. Heimstern Läufer 07:05, 2 November 2007 (UTC)

I say we do Matt Chapman. Homestar-Winner (talk) 11:09, 2 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] HRWiki:Featured article for 2007, week 46 (Nov 12-18)

How about a daily featured article week with Compy 386 emails. Juts some classics: comic, japanese cartoon, dragon, crazy cartoon, personal favorites, monument, video games, your friends, invisibility, time capsule, monster truck. User talk:Sam the Man Sam the Man 14:38, 13 September 2007 (UTC)

To me, this is too soon after we did a set of dailies featuring sbemails. I think it would be a good idea to do this sometime, but I don't think we should do it yet. Heimstern Läufer 17:09, 14 September 2007 (UTC)
Yes, I agree. Sometime early next year would be better, at the very least. Hmm, but what instead...? --DorianGray 18:22, 14 September 2007 (UTC)
Why don't we move The Show down here, instead? wbwolf (t | ed) 19:52, 14 September 2007 (UTC)
Sure, why not? Heimstern Läufer 04:30, 2 October 2007 (UTC)
Yeah, The Show sounds good. I don't like the daily articles...I always miss one or two and have to look back in the archives. Religious Corn   19:35, 17 October 2007 (UTC)
Three cheers for The Show — nice, polished article that has significance to the Homestar Runner universe. Trey56 05:40, 29 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] HRWiki:Featured article for 2007, week 47 (Nov 19-25)

Perhaps Strongest Man in The World? User talk:Sam the Man Sam the Man 15:31, 16 September 2007 (UTC)

How about we feature Gremlin this day, or if it isn't already featured The Goblin or Nebulon.--~ SlipStream 04:30, 23 September 2007 (UTC)
Let us give TANKS! in honor of Thanksgiving. Heimstern Läufer 22:26, 26 September 2007 (UTC)
I like the idea of having T'giving toon for this week. May I suggest an older Thanskgiving toon for this week, though? How about Some Stupid Turkey or colonization. The later would get a really good write up, since it has a lot to do with History According To Strong Bad and eggs. wbwolf (t | ed) 23:04, 26 September 2007 (UTC)
Some Stupid Turkey seems a bit short to me, and as for colonization, well, it's possible. I admit I don't like that one and so I'm a bit biased and would prefer Let us give TANKS!, still. Heimstern Läufer 23:21, 26 September 2007 (UTC)
I do like the idea of colonization, but I also like Let us give TANKS! a lot. I'd be okay with either one, though I lean towards the latter. Trey56 00:20, 27 September 2007 (UTC)
Oh? Is it going to be Thanksgiving? (It isn't celebrated in Australia, so I wouldn't know.) Then I vote for Let us give TANKS!.--~ SlipStream 02:42, 27 September 2007 (UTC)
Okay. I'm creating Let us give TANKS! now. If anybody disagrees, change it. User talk:Sam the Man Sam the Man 21:55, 14 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] HRWiki:Featured article for 2007, week 48 (Nov 26-Dec 2)

Thy Dungeonman (character). A very thorough article about a largely unseen, unspeaking character, worth featuring. Heimstern Läufer 02:48, 27 September 2007 (UTC)

Yes, I'd like to see that article front-pages. Support. Elcool (talk)(contribs) 02:53, 27 September 2007 (UTC)
I even suggested one of the Dungeonman games! 124.180.48.17 08:32, 3 November 2007 (UTC)
Okay. I'm creating the article tomorrow. Stop me if you don't like it. User talk:Sam the Man Sam the Man 00:37, 19 November 2007 (UTC)
Can we just continue! As far as I know, this has been the shortest of these discussions! 124.176.190.64 22:08, 24 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] HRWiki:Featured article for 2007, week 49 (Dec 3-9)

Computer Room? A very thorough article on a single room, which is probably the most often seen room in the H*R universe. Heimstern Läufer 06:08, 3 October 2007 (UTC)

The Computer Room is overlooked since it is a such a common appearance. Excellent idea to feature it during this week. wbwolf (t | ed) 00:54, 11 November 2007 (UTC)
I support this idea, in large part because of this awesome image. Well, that's not the only reason — it's an important subject. Trey56 07:22, 11 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] HRWiki:Featured article for 2007, week 50 (Dec 10-16)

Homestar Runner and Strong Bad's Relationship. Longest-standing and arguably most important relationship between characters. Article has plenty of good content. Heimstern Läufer 06:13, 3 October 2007 (UTC)

I'll second this article. The whole Relationships hierarchy is pretty new, so it would be good to give them a bit of boost with a Featured Article. Perhaps in the intro write up include a link to other various H*R relationship articles would be good, especially since some of them stubbed and could use some fleshing out. wbwolf (t | ed) 00:56, 11 November 2007 (UTC)
I like this idea too! Should be an interesting idea for a featured article that we haven't tried yet. Trey56 07:22, 11 November 2007 (UTC)

character relationship is a great stream of articles nobody knows about. i agree 100%. Slipknot6477 02:26, 20 November 2007 (UTC)

I say we do Who Said What. That game has been very popular since its change. 124.176.190.64 05:18, 28 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] HRWiki:Featured article for 2007, week 51 (Dec 17-23)

How about retirement? It's the longest sbemail, and I really like that email. Religious Corn   20:49, 10 October 2007 (UTC)

Nah. I'd like to see something Christmasy, or Decemberweenish. Either what I want or The Decemberween Tree would be fine. User talk:Sam the Man Sam the Man 21:11, 10 October 2007 (UTC)
The Decemberween Tree's prose intro is a bit short for a featured article. what I want would probably work, though. Heimstern Läufer 00:03, 11 October 2007 (UTC)
Yeah, I like the idea of doing what I want too.Religious Corn   20:31, 12 October 2007 (UTC)
There aren't that many pre-Decemberween shorts of any substance (though Decemberween In July might make a good alternate....). I have no problem with what I want for this week. wbwolf (t | ed) 01:00, 11 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] HRWiki:Featured article for 2007, week 52 (Dec 24-30)

A Decemberween toon. How about A Decemberween Pageant? User talk:Sam the Man Sam the Man 21:11, 10 October 2007 (UTC)

Just to list all the major D'ween toons: A Holiday Greeting (more or less Decemberween), The Best Decemberween Ever, A Decemberween Pageant and Decemberween Short Shorts (I've excluded Homestar Presents: Presents because we featured that last year). Heimstern Läufer 05:41, 11 October 2007 (UTC)
Naw. Like I said before, we should do less daily articles. I think The Best Decemberween Ever would be a good enough article, as it introduces the word Decemberween. Homestar-Winner (talk) 10:00, 11 October 2007 (UTC)
I agree, if we keep on having daily articles for holidays, we are going to run out rather quickly, then...bad stuff happens. I think The Best Decemberween Ever is a good article to be featured on this day...week.--~ SlipStream 11:05, 11 October 2007 (UTC)
Actually, I just realized that you weren't saying that we should do a week of different toons. I should read these posts more carefully. But still, I think we should feature The Best Decemberween Ever. Homestar-Winner (talk) 11:25, 11 October 2007 (UTC)
I'll just support having The Best D'ween Ever as the featured for this week... wbwolf (t | ed) 14:48, 11 October 2007 (UTC)
Yes, just to clarify: I wasn't suggesting dailies, just setting our what our options are. Heimstern Läufer 17:11, 11 October 2007 (UTC)
Oh, and Best D'ween ever sounds fine to me. Heimstern Läufer 17:12, 11 October 2007 (UTC)
Sounds good! Religious Corn   20:32, 12 October 2007 (UTC)
Yes, one of the best Decemberween cartoons... ever... I agree! Trey56 07:22, 11 November 2007 (UTC)
