[edit] HRWiki:Featured article for 2008, week 11 (Mar 10-16)

Per the discussion page, how about Lappynapped!? wbwolf (t | ed) 03:45, 11 February 2008 (UTC)

All right, sounds like a fine idea. Note that this won't prevent us from also featuring retirement and/or cliffhangers someday should we choose to. Heimstern Läufer 17:20, 11 February 2008 (UTC)

Let me put in a different idea Bad Graphics Ghost why have we not done this one. The-homsarrunner Mar 2 2008

We've kind of been discussing doing something relating to the Lappynapping saga for quite a while, and I don't see any reason to deviate from that plan.
As a more general note, could I ask everyone who contributes to this page to consider this: If an idea has already been suggested for a particular week, I think it's poor etiquette to suggest featuring a different article without explaining why it would be a better choice. It's kind of dismissing someone else's idea without a reason. I'm not suggesting that we should always feature whatever article is suggested first, but that we should remember always explain why another article would be better rather than just sticking our suggestion in conflict with the original. Heimstern Läufer 01:52, 3 March 2008 (UTC)
As someone who rarely makes the first post, I know Heimi's approach would be helpful to me in determining what consensus is or could be for any particular week. Having one main article to start would help in knowing what we are doing. That said, what is, indeed, on the table for this week? Qermaq - (T/C) Image:Qermaqsigpic.png 05:22, 3 March 2008 (UTC)
Lappynapped! has been on the table for quite a bit: even before it was suggested, we had discussions elsewhere about featuring something from the Lappynapping saga, and, as Wbwolf suggests, this has also been discussed on the discussion page for this project page. Of course, this doesn't mean we have to feature it, but I would suggest that we should unless there is a clear reason to go a different direction. Hope that answers your question. Heimstern Läufer 05:32, 3 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] HRWiki:Featured article for 2008, week 12 (Mar 17-23)

Astro-Lite 2600. 124.181.65.132 09:12, 16 February 2008 (UTC)

For an entire week? I don't think it's nearly significant enough for that. Heimstern Läufer 17:16, 16 February 2008 (UTC)
How about Where's The Cheat? It was the longest running toon for 5 years. User talk:Sam the Man Sam the Man 17:19, 16 February 2008 (UTC)
Wait, this is Easter week (Easter is on the 23). So why not Eggs (toon)? User talk:Sam the Man Sam the Man 23:53, 18 February 2008 (UTC)
I don't really think Eggs (toon) has sufficient content for an FA. Heimstern Läufer 06:23, 19 February 2008 (UTC)
How about Tiny-Handed Strong Bad? MHarrington 02:12, 25 February 2008 (UTC)
Tiny-Handed Strong Bad is awesome! Let's feature him! Homestar-Winner (talk) 01:50, 28 February 2008 (UTC)
Tiny Hands is my choice. Qermaq - (T/C) Image:Qermaqsigpic.png 05:26, 3 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] HRWiki:Featured article for 2008, week 13 (Mar 24-30)

After looking at the FA history for this year and the nominations, it looks like we haven't yet featured a Strong Bad email. I'd like to suggest comic, the origin of TGS? --Stux 17:35, 16 February 2008 (UTC)

Like I said earlier ijn the year, how about a daily featured article week with Compy 386 emails. Just some classics: comic, japanese cartoon, dragon, crazy cartoon, personal favorites, monument, video games, your friends, invisibility, time capsule, monster truck. User talk:Sam the Man Sam the Man 17:43, 16 February 2008 (UTC)
dragon's already been featured, so it wouldn't include that. Some of those other ones may be significant enough to have a full week also (japanese cartoon, possibly). Heimstern Läufer 17:45, 16 February 2008 (UTC)
I counted eleven emails in that list, unfortunately the week only has seven! :S. However some of these (like japanese cartoon) have already been featured. Same goes with dragon and... I guess that's it. However, we may have featured more than I know: HRWiki talk:Featured Article Selection#Milestone emails. is a talk section I'm still going by and I think a better week-long selection might be garnered from that list (perhaps not, perhaps a common theme like Compy 386 might be better? not sure.) Anywho, at least with japanese cartoon, HRWiki:Featured article nominations isn't up to date (I remember updating the Milestone emails list) since I'm guessing lately we haven't been using that list for the nominations. So I suspect there may be other emails we have featured that haven't been marked as "featured". --Stux 17:55, 16 February 2008 (UTC)
I take back what I said. I can't find japanese cartoon in the FA history. Why the heck did I mark it!? --Stux 17:58, 16 February 2008 (UTC)
If that is the case, I would say japanese cartoon is long overdue as a featured article. wbwolf (t | ed) 05:20, 17 February 2008 (UTC)
Yeah, we should just feature japanese cartoon this week. Homestar-Winner (talk) 19:59, 17 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] HRWiki:Featured article for 2008, week 14 (Mar 31-Apr 6)

Does April Fools' 2007 have enough information to be a featured article? Homestar-Winner (talk) 20:01, 17 February 2008 (UTC)

There was no April Fool's 2007. MHarrington 06:42, 18 February 2008 (UTC)
Oops. I mean April Fools' 2006. Homestar-Winner (talk) 01:35, 19 February 2008 (UTC)
That article doesn't really have enough of a prose intro to be on the main page as it stands, and I'm not sure the topic really lends itself to a lengthier intro (someone may feel free to crush my doubts, though). Heimstern Läufer 06:59, 2 March 2008 (UTC)
How about one of the other April Fools' gags, such as Under Construction or HomestarRunner.com PAY PLUS!? wbwolf (t | ed) 16:20, 2 March 2008 (UTC)
I'd opt for Under Construction as it is older and more plot-driven. Qermaq - (T/C) Image:Qermaqsigpic.png 05:28, 3 March 2008 (UTC)
Or maybe we don't even need an April Fools Day FA. We've never had one before. Maybe a Sweet Cuppin Cakes character like Eh! Steve! or even just Sweet Cuppin Cakes. Homestar-Winner (talk) 21:10, 5 March 2008 (UTC)
I'm all for Under Construction. Sbemailnum314159 16:45, 21 March 2008 (UTC)
Yeah, let's do that. We can save Sweet Cuppin Cakes for another day, can't we? MHarrington 03:03, 22 March 2008 (UTC)
Fine by me. Homestar-Winner (talk) 12:10, 22 March 2008 (UTC)
In retrospect, we probably shouldn't have done japanese cartoon last week if we were going to do this one this week. A bit much 20X6. A BIT TOO MUCH OF A CHALLENGE?!?!?!?!?!?! Heimstern Läufer 19:01, 30 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] HRWiki:Featured article for 2008, week 15 (Apr 7-13)

Trog-Cave? User talk:Sam the Man Sam the Man 00:28, 29 February 2008 (UTC)

That article is far too short for featured status. May I suggest Biscuit Dough Hands Man instead? wbwolf (t | ed) 00:47, 29 February 2008 (UTC)
Though a pseudo-character was featured recently, I think that's a good plan. Qermaq - (T/C) Image:Qermaqsigpic.png 03:45, 20 March 2008 (UTC)
Sure, why not. Heimstern Läufer 23:20, 31 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] HRWiki:Featured article for 2008, week 16 (Apr 14-20)

How 'bout History according to Strong Bad? MHarrington 19:21, 1 March 2008 (UTC)

Already been featured, albeit under a different title. Heimstern Läufer 19:33, 1 March 2008 (UTC)
DNA Evidence (running gag) week. We feature strong badathlon, unnatural, the movies, your funeral, from work, rough copy, then we top it off with DNA Evidence (toon). If that doesn't work out, we just feature DNA Evidence (running gag). It's a DNA Evidence all you can eat salad bar! User talk:Sam the Man Sam the Man 21:12, 1 March 2008 (UTC)
I think I would favor featuring the running gag page, rather than each of the individual emails. I think the toon DNA Evidence is important enough that it deserves more than just a single day to be featured. wbwolf (t | ed) 06:02, 3 March 2008 (UTC)
That's a good idea; we could do the running gag one week and the full-blown toon the next. MHarrington 23:23, 8 March 2008 (UTC)
I support featuring the running gag, but don't think we should feature the toon immediately thereafter. That would be a bit overkill. Heimstern Läufer 16:37, 14 March 2008 (UTC)
Here's my idea:
Just an idea, my pi cents. Sbemailnum314159 01:01, 19 March 2008 (UTC)
That's what Sam said above. We agreed to just do the running gag I think. Homestar-Winner (talk) 01:21, 19 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] HRWiki:Featured article for 2008, week 17 (Apr 21-27)

Perhaps another pseudocharacter. How about Drive-Thru Whale or Wagon Fulla Pancakes? User talk:Sam the Man Sam the Man 19:49, 1 March 2008 (UTC)

I think it might be too soon for a pseudocharacter. We have Frank Benedetto and possibly Biscuit Dough Hands Man in about a month's span. How about another category of article, such as TV Shows. wbwolf (t | ed) 01:02, 2 March 2008 (UTC)
To do that one, we'd need to expand its prose intro by at least a few sentences. Anyone want to do that? Heimstern Läufer 06:55, 2 March 2008 (UTC)
How 'bout Atari 2600? MHarrington 01:12, 3 March 2008 (UTC)
This one would also definitely need an expansion of the intro first. Heimstern Läufer 01:14, 3 March 2008 (UTC)
Then how 'bout Atari Dragon? MHarrington 01:24, 3 March 2008 (UTC)
I like the idea of featuring Atari 2600. Let me take a stab at trying to expand that intro... wbwolf (t | ed) 06:09, 3 March 2008 (UTC)
It's probably long enough now by a hair (if anyone can expand a bit more, it would be great, but we can probably live with it now). Heimstern Läufer 15:55, 27 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] HRWiki:Featured article for 2008, week 18 (Apr 28-May 4)

How about doing a name used commonly in the website, like Dennis, Dan or Douglas? MHarrington 04:43, 4 March 2008 (UTC)

Of the three, I'd say that Dan is the biggest running gag. However, the intro would need to be expanded in order to get on the FA page. The other two, I think are pretty short. (Though Dennis is close...) wbwolf (t | ed) 01:10, 8 March 2008 (UTC)
But Dennis has the longest intro. MHarrington 15:39, 17 March 2008 (UTC)
I do like Dennis better. Homestar-Winner (talk) 20:18, 18 March 2008 (UTC)
I'm not convinced either of these is really ready to feature right now. For Dan, the problem is that the intro is too short, making it hard to make a substantial write-up. By contrast, the intro of Dennis is fine, but there is scant content outside the intro. Remember, the writeup has that link saying (more...). We need to have something, and not just a little bit, that makes that link worthwhile, and I don't think Dennis is really there yet. Heimstern Läufer 00:52, 19 March 2008 (UTC)
Then how about doing something entirely different, like Analysis of Homsar's Speech Patterns? MHarrington 06:25, 24 March 2008 (UTC)
That article always has been, and I suspect always will be, too speculatory to belong on our main page. Heimstern Läufer 00:01, 25 March 2008 (UTC)
How about Strong Bad's Mount Ridesplace USA, then? MHarrington 18:17, 30 March 2008 (UTC)
Hmm, we don't feature places too often, so that could be interesting... not to mention that the article includes one of my favourite jokes in the HR canon: the old Riverquest Safariventure. The intro could possibly use a teeny expansion to make this work, but I generally like the idea. Heimstern Läufer 18:19, 30 March 2008 (UTC)
MAYBE we could do Craig Zobel or a secret page on the site? Of course i dont this'll be too popular but 3d Character Variations? would definitely need an expanded intro but id do that if any one wanted me to. Physicsguymonsterman 12:07, 23 April 2008 (UTC)
Well, we were already kind of set for Mount Ridesplace. Is there a reason to do one of your suggestions instead (not a vote but a discussion, remember). Heimstern Läufer 20:38, 23 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] HRWiki:Featured article for 2008, week 19 (May 5-11)

Homestar Runner and Marzipan's Relationship? Bad Bad Guy 03:11, 10 March 2008 (UTC)

That one would need to be expanded a bit. MHarrington 06:36, 11 March 2008 (UTC)
Although I like this article, and just expanded it, I would wait on it for now. We don't have that many relationship articles, especially ones fit to feature, and we did feature SB and HR's relationship not long ago. I'd hate for us to exhaust them so soon. Heimstern Läufer 23:19, 31 March 2008 (UTC)

As much as I feel embarrassed to nominate an article I worked on, what about the Late Nite JengaJam Interview - 4 Oct 2007? Even if we don't take it now, something to get the ball rolling on an empty week... wbwolf (t | ed) 14:09, 20 April 2008 (UTC)

How about The Screen Savers Interview - 24 Jan 2005? At least that one has a picture. MHarrington 01:19, 21 April 2008 (UTC)
My 2 ideas are sbcg4ap or sbasaf I forgot the squigglies Physicsguymonsterman 12:09, 23 April 2008 (UTC)
Not SBCG4AP yet because it is too new. Homestar-Winner (talk) 19:39, 23 April 2008 (UTC)
Yes, HW is definitely right. I'm not sure SBASAF is really thorough enough for an FA, either, and note that we've already featured The Screen Savers Interview - 24 Jan 2005. Heimstern Läufer 19:44, 23 April 2008 (UTC)
Ah, yes, I see now that we did feature that before, on the 41st week of aught-six. All right then, how about Moron Life Interview - 5 Sep 2005? MHarrington 20:32, 23 April 2008 (UTC)
Well, that one would have the same problem as Wbwolf's suggestion, in that it lacks an image. Then again, it isn't absolutely necessary to have an image on our main page article, so we could do either one, in which case I would lean toward JengaJam, since it's a more thorough interview (not to mention that Wbwolf did spent a heck of a lot of time working on that). Heimstern Läufer 20:45, 23 April 2008 (UTC)
If an image would be needed, the Joss Whedon picture (which was mentioned in the interview) would work. wbwolf (t | ed) 21:02, 23 April 2008 (UTC)
Sure, that'd work, I guess. MHarrington 21:05, 23 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] HRWiki:Featured article for 2008, week 20 (May 12-18)

Either a week of entertainment running gags or 1 gag featured the whole week. (I think if we only had to pick 1, Peanuts is the worthiest) Bad Bad Guy 22:06, 17 March 2008 (UTC)

Well, the only problem with that one is that its intro would have to be DRASTICALLY expanded. MHarrington 00:00, 18 March 2008 (UTC)
How about featuring a classic toon. A Jorb Well Done is long overdue for being featured. wbwolf (t | ed) 03:40, 20 March 2008 (UTC)
A Jorb Well Done is a fine toon, and should definitely be featured. There's even enough enticing trivia to expand on it (namely the bit about it originally being animated in an older style, and then updated. The only toon I know of to go through a reanimationing and style change). --DorianGray 03:58, 20 March 2008 (UTC)
I like it, too. JCM 23:23, 27 April 2008 (UTC)
Jorb is a great idea. This is one of the most important long toons, well worthy of being featured. Trey56 05:13, 9 May 2008 (UTC)
