This is an archive of past comments on my user talk. Please don't add new ones. If you need to talk to me, please do that here.

You can talk to me here if you want. I don't care. Right now I'm deep in thought about what to get my friend for her birthday. It's in 5 days, so I gotta think fast. Hmm... -Brightstar Shiner 19:03, 6 November 2005 (UTC)

I don't suppose she'd appreciate a half-digested gazelle carcas? —AbdiViklas 20:25, 6 November 2005 (UTC)
Probably not. I just got her a nice game yesterday, actually. I can only imagine what she'd think of me if I gave her that gazelle carcas, though. Eww. -Brightstar Shiner 20:55, 8 November 2005 (UTC)

Note: I delete old discussion on my userpage if it's trivial and doesn't matter anymore. If my talk page gets too long but I want to save some of it, I'll make an archive. Hasn't happened yet, though. -Brightstar Shiner 21:14, 9 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Userboxes

Hey, make sure you start your tower with {{userboxtop}} and end it with |}. Then be sure you copied ALL the code for the boxes. Then it should work! HTH, Qermaq - (T/C) Image:Qermaqsigpic.png 23:18, 22 April 2006 (UTC)

This user is asking for the help of wiki users who can figure this crap out! This isn't right. Almost perfect but not quite. -Brightstar Shiner 23:50, 22 April 2006 (UTC)

Looks good now. Anything else? Qermaq - (T/C) Image:Qermaqsigpic.png 07:08, 23 April 2006 (UTC)
Nope! Looks awesome. Thanks for all the help, Qermaq and others. -Brightstar Shiner 17:03, 23 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] That Quote Thing

Anybody who can figure out the non-Homestar quotes on my userpage (the ones that I separated with bullets) gets cupcakes! -Brightstar 21:23, 13 September 2006 (UTC)

Whatev. The cupcakes are probably stale now anyway. The offer still stands, though! -Brightstar Shiner 17:47, 28 December 2006 (UTC)
You mean the ones from the Behind The Music: Blue Oyster Cult SNL sketch? — It's dot com 17:54, 28 December 2006 (UTC)
Yeeessss!!!! You get stale cupcakes! Hooray! -Brightstar Shiner 18:17, 28 December 2006 (UTC)

By the way, this is sort of a contest now. See my userpage for more info. I will change the quotes when someone gets it right. -Brightstar Shiner 18:32, 28 December 2006 (UTC)

You had to pick one of my favorite movies and two 80's staples:
  • Joseph II in Amadeus
  • Emmett Brown in Back to the Future
  • Josh in Big - ISTC 19:02, 28 December 2006 (UTC)
Whoa! That was fast! Umm...you get the first batch of cupcakes, fresh from the oven! Honestly, I didn't think anyone would even notice this. Maybe I should pick more obscure quotes from now on... -Brightstar Shiner 03:30, 29 December 2006 (UTC)
Is that last one "Forrest Gump"? TheYellowDart(t/c)
Yeah, it is. Spoken by Forrest Gump from the movie Forrest Gump. Anyone know the other two? -Brightstar Shiner 01:25, 4 January 2007 (UTC)
Can I have some cupcakes now? TheYellowDart(t/c)
Agatha Trunchbull from Matilda and Linda Rogo from The Poseidon Adventure? Loafing 03:03, 5 January 2007 (UTC)
Holy Cow! I underestimated the quote-savvyness of the HRWiki users. Yellowdart, you get cupcakes now. Chocolate ones. Loafing got the other two, so he gets double chocolate cupcakes. Looks like I'll have to go and change it again. -Brightstar Shiner 20:36, 5 January 2007 (UTC)
Ummmmkay, no Google, eh? Sorry, here are two nearly not eaten cupcakes back. I didn't know that was cheating, sorry! ;-) Loafing 04:43, 6 January 2007 (UTC)
Lessee, I'm almost certain the third one's from the end of Back to the Future 3. I am sure I've heard the first one, but can't remember where. The second is totally foreign. I'm so tempted to cheat! --Stux 21:27, 5 January 2007 (UTC)
<stunned silence> Argh! That just totally slipped my mind that people could use Google! FYI, if anybody uses Google to cheat at my contest, I will rain death upon your miserable, cursed soul. Just kidding. But I will take you off the winners list. Anyway, sorry Stux. None of those are right. I don't know if Back To The Future has a similar quote, but that's not what I had in mind. -Brightstar Shiner 21:40, 5 January 2007 (UTC)
Hey cool! Cupcakes! Hey, Brightstar, I'm adding you to my cool people list! Keep up the good edits and contest, TheYellowDart(t/c)
Awesome! I always wanted to be on someone's cool people list. You rock, Yellowdart! -Brightstar Shiner 21:51, 5 January 2007 (UTC)
Always have, always will. Keep shining bright, TheYellowDart(t/c)
Aww rats, and I thought I had the third one at least! Towards the end of the movie Marty asks Doc about the blank piece of paper and Doc tells him that his future's not written and that no one's is. That's why I thought it would be that. I've thought for hours about the first one and .... nothing. The only other movie that I could've thought of for #3 was Minority Report, but I seriously doubt it's that either. So I guess I'll have to wait for the answers or peek (I'm curious are any of these sci-fis anime?) --Stux 02:45, 6 January 2007 (UTC)
Wrong again, sorry. I'll give you one cupcake for the similarity in BTF, though. Also, none are sci-fi anime, but that would be awesome. I outta do a quote series with just anime movie quotes. Hello, Hayao Miyazaki films! But seriously, these are hard, so I'll give all y'alls some hints: 1. Cult film with a really long title. 2. Worst movie ever made. 3. I'll be back. -Brightstar Shiner 03:25, 6 January 2007 (UTC)
Lol. Yay! Thanks for the cupcake! Ok no no sci-fi anime (of which my knowledge is limited) so that narrows things. The hints help! Sort of. So, 1. I just have to think of cult movies with really long names (such as MST3K:TM) 2. Worst movie ever made? Most of the B movies shown on scifi on Saturday afternoons are the worst movie ever made! 3. Now THAT's too easy. But it makes sense now! Great movie! I still haven't seen its sequel with Claire Danes on it. A friend of mine has it and I wanna borrow it. Your knowledge of movies is quite impressive! --Stux 04:33, 6 January 2007 (UTC)
Is the second one Hitchiker's Guide To The Galaxy? Is the last one The Terminator? TheYellowDart(t/c)
No, none are from H2G2, or I would have got them all by now. ;) - link_icon.gifThe Joe(Talk) 04:47, 6 January 2007 (UTC)
I have to agree with Stux on the second quote. It's either from "Plan 9 from Outer Space" or from "Ed Wood" which is basically about that same movie. (this time without Google, yay ;-) ) Loafing 04:50, 6 January 2007 (UTC)
LOL! You should be a lawyer! ;) And rats I haven't seen either movie. --Stux 05:08, 6 January 2007 (UTC)
Meh, I just wanted to make sure it doesn't sound like I was complaining :-p Dun call me lawyer, you! And "Ed Wood" is quite a good movie. You should really only watch Plan 9 if you like that kind of stuff ;-) Loafing 05:11, 6 January 2007 (UTC)

Okay, let me sort this all out. You guys all put messages in my talk page when I was either having guests over or sleeping yesterday, so sorry I couldn't really jump in earlier. Here goes: Nobody gets number one, which was honestly really hard and I can tell you guys the answer if you want me to. Loafing gets number two, which was Plan 9 from Outer Space and the speaker was Criswell. It was actually a really long speach, but I condensed it down to the last line. Loafing, Yellowdart, and Stux get number three, which was Terminator 2: Judgment Day and the speaker was Sarah Connor. They all got really close and all get hot, fresh cupcakes (partially because Stux has been wanting some badly and Loafing didn't know about the Google thing, so he gets new replacement cupcakes). Combolations to all. Oh, and Stux, my knowledge of movies is quite impressive, but I haven't seen all of the films I find quotes from. The internet helps me on that end. -Brightstar Shiner 13:14, 6 January 2007 (UTC)

Okay, now spit it out, I give up. Even after looking at this page for ideas nothing! They're showing The Last Starfighter! It's crazy and I didn't know it was a "cult" movie ... Woow! The memories. --Stux 04:38, 9 January 2007 (UTC)
Ha ha!! It was on that page, but you still didn’t get it! I can see now that you’re desperate, so okay, here's the answer. The first quote is from The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension and the speaker is Lord John Whorfin. Nobody gets cupcakes, but new quotes will be coming soon, so see all y'alls later! -Brightstar Shiner 22:00, 9 January 2007 (UTC)
LOL, I'm blind! I must confess I skimmed through the list looking for long enough titles. The title is so long it's even solely responsible for the first column being so wide! Even THEN I didn't notice. I actually have NOT seen this movie, contrary to my "hunch". I'm sure however, that I've seen tons of shows I'm sure are referencing it, even perhaps Xiaolin Showdown. Add another movie to the list of must-watch movies. Now I ask you, have YOU seen The Last Starfighter??? They had it on Sci-fi the other day, and it was awesome to watch again, despite its tackyness and ever-so-awesome CGI. If you have I'll be very impressed. Until Next time! --Stux 16:50, 10 January 2007 (UTC)
No, I haven't. I haven't seen Buckaroo Banzai, either. Or about half of the movies I do quotes for. Where on the internet do I find the quotes, you ask? Well, that's a secret. Honestly, maybe I should see The Last Starfighter, just to make Stux here happy. Oh, and just so you know, my favorite movies are Star Wars (all six), Finding Nemo, A Christmas Story, and Rain Man. -Brightstar Shiner 20:50, 10 January 2007 (UTC)
Did I ever mention that I was shocked that you had never seen eps 1-3? ;) But you "redeemed" yourself by watching them. :) I was also surprised that you'd never seen Buckaroo Banzai given that you had quoted it, and more so that you gleaned your quotes off the internet! Tsk, tsk, tsk! And here I thought you were quoting these from the top of your head! :) Also, I've looked at the new ones... and noooooo idea either. Guess I'm still batting 0.100. --Stux 22:27, 21 January 2007 (UTC)
I'm only a humble 13-year-old, Stux. I can't see all of these movies. :-) At that moment, I didn't own the prequel series on DVD, but I had gotten the original trilogy for Christmas and watched them. My dad promptly ordered the ones I didn't have from Amazon, I watched them, and here we are today. One problem though: They haven't actually said it, but I believe my friends think I'm even more of a geek now for liking Star Wars... -Brightstar Shiner 22:53, 21 January 2007 (UTC)
Don't forget that the deadly poison has to work instantly! Lest you be shred to pieces by a barbarian. Anywho, so your friends may think you're more of a geek for liking Star Wars? Nothing wrong with that, ...except maybe with them ;). The only way to rectify this situation is by turning THEM into Star Wars geeks! Easier said than done, I know. No one can me made into a follower of the dark side... er Jedi, but it never hurts to try! :) --Stux 18:33, 28 January 2007 (UTC)
<laughs maniacally hysterically>That could never happen in a million years. They're too "cool" for Star Wars. On a slightly unrelated note, my favorite characters in just about any movie/book/tv show/etc. are the villians. For Star Wars, that means my favorite character is Darth Vader/Anakin. That scene in Episode III where he kills Windu and Palpatine turns him to the dark side was so creepy. I had to pause the movie and breathe for awhile, but I was really enjoying it. Very memorable scene. -Brightstar Shiner 18:45, 28 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Your Signature

It looks like you've put <span style="color: #800080;">[[User:Brightstar Shiner|Brightstar Shiner]]</span> in the "nickname" box in your preferences, but didn't turn on the "Raw signatures (without automatic link)" checkbox - you have to turn that option on to get fancy sigs to work. Incidentally, the <span> will have to go inside the link to work correctly: [[User:Brightstar Shiner|<span style="color: #800080;">Brightstar Shiner</span>]]. If you want more info, look at Help:Signature and HRWiki:Signature. phlip TC 21:10, 7 October 2006 (UTC)

Thanks. Couple questions though. Can I still put 4 tildes for the sig or do I have to write all that out every time? And how do the sig subpages help? -Brightstar Shiner 21:15, 7 October 2006 (UTC)
Yeah, you can still use the four tildes if you put it in that box in the preferences and turn "raw sigs" on. The sig subpages help by letting you make more complex sigs without cluttering up the talk page source with your signature's code... which isn't a problem with something as simple as changing the colour, but for more complex sigs it's good to get it out of the way. phlip TC 21:17, 7 October 2006 (UTC)
3 ~'s is just a siggy, 4 a siggy plus timestamp (what you want on Talk Pages) and 5 just a datestamp. The tildes will include whatever sig you're set for. As for subpages, what exectly are you wondering? Qermaq - (T/C) Image:Qermaqsigpic.png 21:19, 7 October 2006 (UTC)
I knew the tilde part already (you must get really tired of saying that over and over), but the subpages are just...some people have subpages for their signatures and I don't know why. Is it just for really complicated ones? Also, I would like to make my sig italic as well as purple, but I'm not sure how. It didn't say anything about that on the Help page Phlip mentioned.-Brightstar Shiner 21:25, 7 October 2006 (UTC)
Just put ''two apostrophes'' around stuff to put it in italics. phlip TC 21:28, 7 October 2006 (UTC)
Yay, it worked. I know what those subpages are there for now, my sig is working, and everything is right with the world. Except for the fact that some n00b ripped off my userboxes for his page and I've had a really bad cold for more than a week now. Lame. -Brightstar Shiner 13:34, 8 October 2006 (UTC)

Sorry about this, but it seems that your holiday sig violates signature standards, as shown below. Granted, it's probably going to be reverted back to your normal sig after a few days, so feel free to ignore this message. --videlectrix.pngENUSY discussionitem_icon.gif user.gifmail_icon.gif 19:57, 24 December 2006 (UTC)

<giggles> I wondered when somebody was going to notice that! I didn't know if holiday sigs were exempt from the rules because of their short time in effect. I was planning on reverting it back tommorrow, so if you guys could deal with it until then, all will be fine. When next Christmas comes 'round, I'll get it right. Thanks, Venusy! -Brightstar Shiner 22:25, 25 December 2006 (UTC)
I wouldn't worry about it too much; there's a discussion here of how different characters are rendered differently according to screen resolution and browser preferences. On one computer I used, your sig is hardly outside of the box, but on the current one, it extends further. I don't think your sig is that problematic — the guideline is there for the sigs that heavily violate it. Trey56 16:11, 27 December 2006 (UTC)
So...I shouldn't change it? I guess it dosn't really matter now that I've switched it back... -Brightstar Shiner 20:41, 27 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Adding Songs

Hey, noticed you added a song to Songs By Character. Don't forget to add that to the main Songs page, and to Songs By Title as well. Qermaq - (T/C) Image:Qermaqsigpic.png 18:39, 22 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] My humor

...sometimes doesn't come across in plain text. I just want you to know I didn't mean anything against you personally. Sorry for making your day worse. Keep on tranglin'! — It's dot com 01:07, 20 November 2006 (UTC)

Thanks, Dot Com. It's all good and I'm on Thanksgiving Break now, so I'm feeling great! <does the Brightstar victory dance (I do have one)> I understand that, on the internet, it is relatively hard to express emotions such as sarcasm or "just kidding". Therefore, I took your comment way too seriously. Thank you again and good day. -Brightstar Shiner 21:06, 20 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Hi!

  • Hi Brightstar Shiner! I don't want to seem some know-it-all jerk, but I just wanted to let you know you spelt "grammar" wrong on your user page, (I didn't want to edit it myself, because maybe you did it on purpose, and I didn't see the humor behind the irony...Wouldn't be my first time...). I really like your philosophy, and completely agree with you! Um, one more thing...What's a WoW clone? See ya 'round the Wiki! kai lyn 15:39, 15 December 2006 (UTC)
Oh, hi! Thanks for the compliments, I hadn't gotten any before! ^_^' I never noticed that I spelt "grammar" wrong and you caught my mistake, so thanks for that. WoW is short for Willy on Wheels, who is a notorious troll on various wikis. Some local trolls here like to copy him and mess up nice users' user pages, like mine. Twice. Anyway, thanks for the message! Bye! -Brightstar Shiner 17:00, 16 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Some A Quote Fixin'

Hi Brightstar, I'm not a regular like I used to so there are a lot of new faces around. Anyway I noticed that a part of your User page seems like it didn't quite come out the way you wanted it to. So I wanted to help. Short of editing your user page, I have copied the text in the next subsection and made the appropriate changes. Just hit the edit button on its subsection and copy the source over to your section! If you have any more questions lemme know. --Stux 03:06, 20 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Edit Me

The Homestar Runner: This picturemadrawin' looks surspicious.
_________________________________________________________________

Strong Bad: No foolin', man. That stuff is G-E-W-D gewd.
_________________________________________________________________

Homestar: That costume makes your butt look big!
_________________________________________________________________

Strong Bad: Oh no, these grapes are suculently crushing my windpipe. Oh, but they're seedless! (chomp, chomp, chomp)
_________________________________________________________________

Strong Sad: Look, you can tell me.

Homestar Runner: I can't!

Strong Sad: Oh, come on, what is it?

Homestar Runner: I'm... pregnant!

Strong Sad: No... no, you're Homestar. Runner. The male.
_________________________________________________________________

And uh...

  • Why don't you lay down that cowbell right now. With us. Together.
  • What does that MEAN?
  • I got a FEVER! And the only PRESCRIPTION! Is more COWBELL!

Ahem...sorry.

Yeah, I do have a question. The old one and the new one look exactly the same. Are you saying that when you look at my userpage, the lines don't look right? Because that's happened to me before, and it's...not happening now. I guess I'll go ahead and put those <br/> commands in, just in case it ends up like that again if I change something on my userpage. Thanks for the concern, but nothing's really wrong. See ya! -Brightstar Shiner 21:59, 20 December 2006 (UTC)
Hi again! To answer your question, in short, Yes. Without the <br/> tags all the lines were running together. I am surprised you never saw them run together like that, which I'm guessing the cause of which is a browser issue. I use Firefox as my main browser, and sometimes IE will not show things the same way. Of course I just checked using IE and saw the same problem in the older version. Perhaps you're using a different skin or other rendering tools? MediaWiki by default runs them together like it shows up in my browser. Anyway, Merry Christmas! --Stux 07:22, 27 December 2006 (UTC)
I use Safari, so maybe that's why. Well, I guess it doesn't matter now that I've changed it, so thanks for the concern. -Brightstar Shiner 03:25, 6 January 2007 (UTC)
Not a problem! I am suprised any browser would've shown that text correctly without the br's. Oh well! If you need any other kind of help just let me know! --Stux 04:39, 6 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] You're a good contributor

Hey Brightstar — I read the discussion here, and I just wanted to agree with what Loafing and Lapper said about you being a great contributor to the wiki. I've noticed your edits on several occasions and thought they were good contributions both to article content and to project pages (the latest ones I noticed and appreciated were in this discussion). I just wanted to encourage you about this because I've found a lot of enjoyment from just doing my best to improve the wiki, and I think that participating in those ways is the most satisfying thing about being here. I would venture to say that sysops would agree with this — that they enjoy polishing the page for the latest Strong Bad Email more than they enjoy reverting edits, blocking vandalism, etc. Also, there's only so much of that administrative work to be done, so while there are a lot of good, qualified users on the wiki, they only need a handful to perform the maintenance of the site.

So, be encouraged, and have fun! Best, Trey56 01:41, 24 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] That Quote Thing Continued

This last thread was getting a tad long, so I started a new one. Once again, post your answers or desperate pleas for me to give you hints right here. Oh and here's your hints for this time. #1. Related to my favorite movies. #2. J. Heder. #3. What Homestar was after the end of car. -Brightstar Shiner 18:53, 28 January 2007 (UTC)

Since I still have no idea what I'm saying going to guess, I might as well give it a shot: #1. I keep wanting to say "Dude, where's my car?" cuz it's the only movie I can think of that would have something like that, and it's teen-ish. #2. I've no idea who J. Heder is. #3. So you mean homestar's passed out? As in "Dazed and confused"? (A movie I've never seen myself. And it's rated R, so kids -- stay away.) Am I anywhere near close? (And if I'm right, what are you doing watching Dazed and Confused!? Huh? :D )--Stux 20:30, 28 January 2007 (UTC)
#1. No. #2. Look it up on Wikipedia. #3. Yes it's Dazed and Confused, and I just put it in to throw people off. I've never watched it (thankfully) and never really plan to. You get...one-third of a cupcake. The other two are still up for grabs! -Brightstar Shiner 01:18, 29 January 2007 (UTC)
Naturally, the 2nd quote about Clara has to come from Back to the Future Part III. --DorianGray
Darn it. Shoulda left the name out. Anyway, you get cupcakes for that one! I'll add you after all the quotes are guessed. -Brightstar Shiner 02:37, 5 February 2007 (UTC)
Awww man! I should've checked the quotes earlier, that one (#2) was easy! Name or no name (I'm bad with names) you can still get it! Heeey... why are there new quotes if two of the old ones (#1 and #2) were unresolved... eh!? --Stux 16:04, 7 February 2007 (UTC)
Why are there new quotes even though two were unresolved? Um... because I felt like it. Those quotes were kinda annoying anyway. In case you're wondering what they were, #1 was from American Grafitti (directed by George Lucas) and the speaker was Terry Fields, and #2 was from a deleted scene in Napoleon Dynamite, spoken by Napoleon himself. -Brightstar Shiner 23:03, 7 February 2007 (UTC)
Ahh! I see! Makes sense. And those are two more movies I still haven't seen... --Stux 02:33, 8 February 2007 (UTC)
You haven't seen Napoleon Dynamite yet?! Oh Stux, I pine for you! Anyone in their right mind hasn't lived until they've seen that movie! -Brightstar Shiner 02:58, 8 February 2007 (UTC)
Well, I'm an old man, and I have seen it. Not sure I'd say you haven't lived till you see it, but it is a good movie. Qermaq - (T/C) Image:Qermaqsigpic.png 03:27, 8 February 2007 (UTC)
Yeah, um, I've watched a lot of movies but many slip under the radar. This one, well... I've been meaning to watch for the last 2 years. I promised a friend I'd rent it next and I haven't gotten around to being able to do that (I've rented, but with friends or the place I went to with $1.00 rentals didn't have it :( ) --Stux 11:32, 8 February 2007 (UTC)
Yeah okay, I exaggerated on the greatness of the movie, but it does rule. Needless to say, you need to see it eventually. People who were teens or preteens when the movie was released (as I was) have all pretty much seen it. And I wouldn't call Qermaq old. He may be older than me, but anyone who documents a cartoon about dumb animal characters has to have some youth in him. :) -Brightstar Shiner 23:07, 8 February 2007 (UTC)

Note: These are groupings of new topic headings people made when they wanted to guess. Please read the P.S. at the bottom of Last Quote for more info. Oh, and these don't necessarily fit chronilogically with the rest of this page.

[edit] More Quote Things

Hmmm, that first quote rings a bell. Is that Michael Moore commenting on applause in Congress or something like that? Have a great vacation! Loafing 01:53, 10 February 2007 (UTC)

No, I'm sorry, but that's not right. Try again later; I'll see y'alls in a week! -Brightstar Shiner 02:30, 10 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Quote

Quote #1 is from Star Wars Episode 3: Revenge of the Sith, and it is spoken by Padmé Amidala. Bub 23:36, 20 February 2007 (UTC)

Good, good. You have done well, my young apprentice. =3 Coconut cupcakes for you, with little sugary candy lightsabers on top.The last quote is still up for grabs! -Brightstar Shiner 23:40, 20 February 2007 (UTC)
Haha, and I thought it was Michael Moore. Those two don't look alike at all ;-) Loafing 11:22, 21 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Last Quote.

Pick me! The last quote is from the First Back To The Future. I think. Might be the second one.--Collin Diver 13:15, 27 February 2007 (UTC)

Um...I actually forgot what BTTF it was from. Normally I write the answers down in a Word document, but I didn't this time and really should've. I know it was from II or III, so I'll give it to you. You get...blue-frosted cupcakes with little candy divers on them that say "Hello, my name is Collin." ^_^ P.S. As a note to all who participate in the quote contest, please refrain from creating a new heading every time you want to guess. I'll create a new thread when I think it's getting too long. Thank you. -Brightstar Shiner 22:48, 27 February 2007 (UTC)
You cheated! How sneaky of you! You can't have two quotes from the same, or almost the same movie! Er... Actually, I guess there's no written rule that says you can't! ;) Oh well. As for the headings, you're well within your rights to move a discussion in your own page back to the appropriate subheading and either eliminate this heading or "demote it" by adding more "="s. --Stux 22:57, 27 February 2007 (UTC)
Yeah, this is kinda my contest, so I can do whatever the heck I want to, such as tricking you with using the (maybe) same movie! Feel the wrath of my power! {maniacal laugh} *Ahem* Right. I think I'll go to some other page now... -Brightstar Shiner 23:02, 27 February 2007 (UTC)
When I finally come back to this page, I am surprised that you accepted my entry! Oh well. Thanks for the cupcakes. Sorry Stux about the confusion. So... I like cupcakes. And I get a bonus for it having my name on it... with little divers. That's cool. Your friend, --Collin Diver 00:13, 20 March 2007 (UTC)
That's good. I'll move this thing off hiatus when I feel like it, which'll probably end up being in the summer when I'm bored and want attention. I hope you liked your cupcakes; those suckers were hard to make! -Brightstar Shiner 00:35, 20 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Homestar Runner Wiki Dream

You won't believe this. I had a dream last night where I was at a mall-sort-of place that was supposed to represent what the HRWiki would look like if it was an actual place. All the users lived there (I think I mentioned IRF, Joey Day, and Qermaq) and there were resturaunts and apartments and things like that. I saw Little Girl, who I called Astrid (because that's her real name), and she was about my age. We played and stuff, but she couldn't get over the fact that I was a huge fan of her uncles (TBC) and treated me kinda strangely. Then I don't remember, and then some demented murderer came and chased us around and my parents came in and then we went into this sushi place where we beat him off and he died. When I woke up, I realized that I had just had a dream about a website! Not just any website, a website documenting another website! It was wierd! -Brightstar Shiner 23:07, 8 February 2007 (UTC)

Interesting dream. (even more interesting tan away message notice) I have a question for you: so was this mall like a back alley strip mall, rodeo drive, or somewhere in between? Oh and, bring some coconuts, so you can make coconut cupcakes as prizes. --Stux 00:32, 9 February 2007 (UTC)
It was more like a small airport terminal without the airplanes. It had deep green and red colors and lots of plants. Oh, and it had a giant swing. That was pretty cool. -Brightstar Shiner 02:25, 9 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Vaca

So how was your trip? Qermaq - (T/C) Image:Qermaqsigpic.png 04:20, 18 February 2007 (UTC)

It was really good! We ate a whole lot of great food, sat by the beach and the pool, had the best view from our villa (condo), and, get this, there was no snow! ...Well, since I was in Mexico of course there wasn't any snow, but it was a big difference (about 80 degrees) from Ohio, where school, my dad's work, church, etc. were all cancelled for about two days. Sure we had some rough spots (me not getting a tan and my brother throwing up all over the floor at 2:30 am this morning come to mind), but that's how all vacations are, right? I'm certainly glad to be back home and was really wanting to check the wiki all week, but sadly couldn't until now. I really missed you guys! Anyway, I'm back now and should be up and raring to go... tomorrow. It's really late and I should be asleep right now...zzzzzz... -Brightstar Shiner 04:33, 18 February 2007 (UTC)
Welcome Back! Sounds like you had a terrible time. Now snow, 80 degree weather, no tan and no wiki! Must be rough. Well, at least you're back to the nice -10 with windchill weather in Ohio (that's what it's been here in Michigan). I too will suffer a similar kind of pain when I must tread back to Puerto Rico over spring break to visit my family. --Stux 02:19, 19 February 2007 (UTC)
Even though I can tell you're being sarcastic, it really was a great vacation. The bad things were pretty minor and I'm actually sorta happy to see the snow again (key word: sorta). Lucky for me it's only 19 degrees (=_=) with a wind chill of I-have-no-idea and 10 - 15 inches of snow. Great, huh? -Brightstar Shiner 14:26, 19 February 2007 (UTC)
Quite. Looking forward to 30+ weather. --Stux 16:49, 19 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Cool

You've just made my "Cool People" list! Congratulations! - Lazor

Um... AWESOME! What did I do to deserve such a high honor? -Brightstar Shiner 01:29, 20 February 2007 (UTC)
You probably got it because you seem like a really cool girl to me. - LAZOR Leave a message. {beep}
That's good. And now, after a year-and-a-half at the wiki, you guys finally know what I look like! Hopefully you all knew that I'm a girl before I put the picture up, but now you definately do. Just don't try anything funny like finding out where I live and egging my house. Oh and by the way, I can type while wearing that puppet. -Brightstar Shiner 22:19, 20 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Sockpuppetry (not really)

YOU HAVE A SOCKPUPPET, Z0MGZ! YOU'LL BE BLOCKED!!111!!1one! *ahem* There, someone yelled at you for having a sockpuppet ;-) But honestly: tape? On a sockpuppet? If that's not geeky, then I don't know. Anyways, keep up the good work! :-) Loafing 11:18, 21 February 2007 (UTC)

Hey give me a break. I couldn't find one thing of bottle glue in my whole house, only glue sticks and Gorilla Glue. Glue sticks don't work on fabric and I didn't want my hand glued to my face. But then again, I'm pretty geeky anyway, so is my cute little sock puppet enhancing my geekiness?! Oh nooo!!! By the way, I named it Omocha. Pretty cute, huh? -Brightstar Shiner 13:44, 21 February 2007 (UTC)
Yes, you get +15 geekiness for making your own sockpuppet ;-) But you get -10 for not glueing your hand to your face :-p I've got a sockpuppet too, by the way. My grandma made it for me ^_^. Loafing 23:50, 21 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] That Quote Thing Sanban

Post new guesses here. -Brightstar Shiner 23:29, 27 February 2007 (UTC)

"That's "screen door on a submarine", you dork." is from Back To The Future part II, when Marty's in 1955 trying to get the almanac. Biff says something about screen doors on a battleship to Lorraine, causing Marty to correct him. NOW WHERE'S MY CUPCAKES? - Dr. Clash 01:31, 5 March 2007 (UTC)

Oh, and "Clara was one in a million. One in a billion. One in a googleplex!" is from BTTF3, when Doc is mourning his heartbreak over Clara. NOW WHERE'S MY DOUBLE CUPCAKES? - Dr. Clash 01:34, 5 March 2007 (UTC)

Look, both of those have already been guessed. Only the liberty quote hasn't been. Also, don't yell. If you get the liberty quote, I'll give you cupcakes. -Brightstar Shiner 01:37, 5 March 2007 (UTC)

Dangit. Anydangway, the liberty quote is from Star wars 3, methinks, when Padme is talking about Palpatine's press conference style thing. Dr. Clash 01:41, 5 March 2007 (UTC)

Youthinks correctly. Cupcakes it is! -Brightstar Shiner 01:43, 5 March 2007 (UTC)
Ahem! That had actually already been answered User_talk:Brightstar_Shiner#Quote here! Loafing 01:45, 5 March 2007 (UTC)
Oh crap, I forgot! Clash, tell me where the quote "And that's all I got to say about the war in Vietnam" comes from and I'll give you your cupcakes back! -Brightstar Shiner 01:58, 5 March 2007 (UTC)

Blarg! It's time for new quotes, methinks >_> Dr. Clash 01:46, 5 March 2007 (UTC)

I will soon. I'm having a really bad sinus headache at the moment and it's late, so I'll leave it as is for right now. -Brightstar Shiner 01:49, 5 March 2007 (UTC)

Aha! Forrest Gump! When he's talking on the microphone, whichsomeone unplugs, and then it's plugged back in. Now I'm glad I watched the movie last Friday. Dr. Clash 02:06, 5 March 2007 (UTC)

Absolutely right! And interestingly, I watched Forrest Gump for the first time last Friday as well, but not on TV. We watched it on video. And by video I mean video, not DVD. -Brightstar Shiner 02:09, 5 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Featured Article Cleanup

Hello, Brightstar. I can see that you are cleaning up various articles, and that most of them are Featured articles from earlier this year. This is also my project, so I would appreciate if you could check these articles off of the list on my userpage so we can keep track of all this. Thanks for your help! — SamSF%20sig.jpgFisher (Come in, Lambert.) 19:19, 11 March 2007

Yeah thanks, I saw your list already. Do I have permission to edit your userpage when an article is done being cleaned up? -Brightstar Shiner 23:32, 11 March 2007 (UTC)
Of course. EDIT: I'm starting at the bottom of the list, where the oldest featres are. You should start at the top, so we don't get an Edit Conflict every time ;) — SamSF%20sig.jpgFisher (Come in, Lambert.) 19:37, 11 March 2007
Okay. I'll work on wording, links, and other assorted whatever. I need to go do something for about an hour, so you have that long to do any edit-conflict-promoting things you need to do until I come back. ^_~ -Brightstar Shiner 23:48, 11 March 2007 (UTC)
......keep.......on.....cleaning up......forever. Excellent work. Keep 'em coming. I see your broom is broke. Here, here's a new one. ;-) --TheYellowDart(t/c) 01:19, 12 March 2007 (UTC)
Thanks for the new broom, but I think I busted it again with Secret Pages. That page was so messed up! It took forever to clean! <screams> -Brightstar Shiner 01:41, 12 March 2007 (UTC)
Lol. Do you want me to take over, or what... --TheYellowDart(t/c) 01:46, 12 March 2007 (UTC)
I'm going to bed soon, so if it's not 10:00 where you live, go ahead and take over for tonight. I'm still doing this full-blast (hey, I started it back up, remember?); I was just grumbling about Secret Pages. Nothing serious, really. -Brightstar Shiner 01:52, 12 March 2007 (UTC)
Heh, I went to bed, too before reading your reply. Even though it is daytime, ...could I cleanup some of the character pages? I can work from the bottom. Good luck, --TheYellowDart(t/c) 21:34, 12 March 2007 (UTC)
Sure thing. Right now I'm busy getting more pages for the list, not cleaning them up. Unless some other user besides me beats you to it, go ahead and clean away. -Brightstar Shiner 21:41, 12 March 2007 (UTC)
Thanks! TheYellowDart(t/c) 21:42, 12 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Casually editing another user's user page

Regarding this edit summary: No, you don't. Per policy, editing of another user's user page should only be done to provide technical assistance or to bring it in line with policy. We don't want to have to police casual edits to user pages by others, and it would be far too easy for someone to falsely claim that they have permission. (Please understand that I'm not trying to be harsh or anything here. I think you're an excellent user.) Talk atcha later. Cheers! — It's dot com 20:29, 12 March 2007 (UTC)

Sam said I could. If you look a little farther up, you'll see that I'm not casually editing his userpage, but just checking off the FAs that I cleaned up. I already decided that I'm going to check a few off at a time instead of flooding RC with a check every time I finish one. After my share of the list has been completed, I'll stop editing his userpage. -Brightstar Shiner 20:34, 12 March 2007 (UTC)
Okay, so I guess this is really my fault for not reading the rule thoroughly. I thought that since I did give her permission (see above) it would not be against the rule. If she can't edit my page, I'll just have to work on the list myself (though it's already done); and in future lists, place them on pages that any user can edit. Is that okay? — SamSF%20sig.jpgFisher (Come in, Lambert.) 16:37, 12 March 2007
We should do that. I feel bad about editing your userpage, but I didn't know the rule. Since your list is completed, however, I can make an HRWiki: Spoken Article Cleanup List page or something to that effect that anyone can edit freely. Sound good? -Brightstar Shiner 20:40, 12 March 2007 (UTC)
Sam: See this section. "Please do not encourage anyone to casually edit your page." Now you know, and knowing is half the battle. — It's dot com 20:46, 12 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Going On To Talk More About Spoken Articles...

Brightstar: for now, I would recommend making it a subpage in one of your userspaces (one possible example: User:Brightstar Shiner/Article Cleanup List). That way, anybody who's working on it can edit it, and if it serves the project to do so, it can be moved to the HRWiki namespace later on. Trey56 20:49, 12 March 2007 (UTC)
You caused an edit conflict that answered the question that I was about to ask Dot Com. Do sysops have some kind of phychic power that lets them answer a question before it's even asked? ;-) Anyway, I'll go and do that now, so don't expect to see me for about an hour. -Brightstar Shiner 20:55, 12 March 2007 (UTC)
Heh. By the way, note that I changed my above suggestion to a subpage in your userspace, if you're going to be the one making it (in the spirit of things) :) Trey56 20:58, 12 March 2007 (UTC)
Well, she is the one who proposed cleaning up articles to be spoken, so she may well end up the head of the project. FAs from '07 are already done, so I suggest doing the Main Characters next. SamSF%20sig.jpgFisher (Come in, Lambert.) 17:04, 12 March 2007
I'm a head of a big project? To sorta quote Kai lyn, SA-WHEAT!! Anyway, I've already started the subpage under a different name, so sorry sbout your wasted time, Trey. -Brightstar Shiner 21:07, 12 March 2007 (UTC)
I'll still handle all the FAs for this year. I'm making a subpage to keep track of the list, so anyone who wants to contribute can do so. SamSF%20sig.jpgFisher (Come in, Lambert.) 17:15, 12 March 2007
Umm... can we limit this to one page, please? It'll get confusing if it's across a few of them. If you want to Sam, you can integrate your list into mine. It's right here: User:Brightstar Shiner/Featured Article Cleanup. -Brightstar Shiner 21:20, 12 March 2007 (UTC)
Well, your page is a list of the main characters. I kinda want to stick to the FAs... I'll move my list to your subpage, but... can I still be in charge of FAs?? ^_^ SamSF%20sig.jpgFisher (Come in, Lambert.) 17:29, 12 March 2007

{reseting the indents} Go ahead, do whatever you want. They're all FAs, so you can clean up any of them that you want to (unless someone beats you to it). Besides, my list isn't done yet. I just started with the main characters and was on my way to find more FAs until I saw this message. So it'll be a long list. -Brightstar Shiner 21:38, 12 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Spoken Articles

Hey there Brightstar — I just wanted to mention I think it's great that you guys are improving the featured articles. As I mentioned on HRWiki talk:Spoken Articles, these are the topics that are most important to the Homestar Runner body of work, and they should be our best-written articles. I did want to warn you, though, that it's very likely that the bandwidth/monetary concern will prevent the Spoken Articles project from going forward, even when we're all happy with the quality of our articles. I just wanted to make sure you knew this before you got through the list of articles you're working on, so that you didn't feel like your effort was wasted. As a matter of fact, it's not a waste at all — it's a wonderful thing to improve the quality of our most important articles. But the discussion on HRWiki talk:Spoken Articles indicates that the wiki is probably not ready to record its articles in the foreseeable future. I hope this makes sense, and thanks again for your hard work! Trey56 02:33, 15 March 2007 (UTC)

Yes, I think it's fantastic that you're cleaning up the articles. We desperately need it. But I don't want you to have your dreams crushed when fixing up the articles doesn't automatically lead to their being recorded. Nevertheless, keep up the good work, and keep on tranglin'! — It's dot com 02:36, 15 March 2007 (UTC)
Don't worry; I've already figured out that Spoken Articles may never get off the ground. I'm not depressed about it though, because I know I'm greatly improving the quality of the wiki by cleaning up our best articles. Honestly, I was shocked at the lack of quality in such pages as Secret Pages and Floppy Disk Container (I'm reserving that one for myself). How we neglect proper grammar sometimes! Tsk, tsk. Anyway, I'm perfectly happy with serving the wiki in this way, and actually getting the FAs recorded is, to me, a little hope that might just happen, but not something I'll cry over if it doesn't. Currently I'm recruiting diligent wiki users to help with this project. If you guys would like to help, that'd be wonderful. See you later! -Brightstar Shiner 22:04, 15 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Hey!

Oh...Hello. Um... This is Sam the Man. I just wanted to thank you for trying to help me with creating my page. But it got DELETED!. Oh, and I was just wondering if you wanted to join my group called the Strong Bad Alegience. I looked on your user page and your favorite character was Strong Bad. If you would like to join, please leave me a messege on mt Talk Page under Strong Bad Alegience. Thanks, Sam the Man.

Hi, Sam! You don't have to be shy towards me, really. I didn't actually know what the status of your page was since the message on Super Martyo's talk page never updated. Anyway, I saw your group and that sounds a lot like fun. I'll go formally ask you on your talk page in a few minutes, so your next new messages notice will be me doing that. Catch ya later! -Brightstar Shiner 22:34, 16 March 2007 (UTC) You do know that you spelled allegiance wrong, right? Just letting you know.
You can join! You can be the Frank Bennedetto. Add the userbox please. Thanks, Sam the Man
I just did. I feel kind of proud being the only other person in da club (with an umlaut) besides you. By the way, you know that you can sign your name on a talk page by using four tildes (~~~~) to leave a link to your userpage and a timestamp, right? It saves a lot of time so that you don't always have to write it out. -Brightstar Shiner 23:23, 16 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Your first mission

All right! You became a member. You will do a few missions before you are premoted. Your first, is to find new members to join. Please get rid of the messege under Strong Bad Allegiance. Just say Strong Bad Allegiance and nothing like now known as ....... Thank you for listening, Sam the Man.

Um, okay! Howzabout TheYellowdart and Drippingyellowmadness? Maybe WierdAl too. I think you should ask them yourself instead of me, since this is your thing and all. Also, I don't really want this to get too fanstuff-ish. I prefer to stay away from that kind of thing. -Brightstar Shiner 01:05, 17 March 2007 (UTC)
