:I think that's a test DLC track actually stored on the disc, which was not enabled in the actual retail copy of the game. I just extracted an Xbox 360 GH2 ISO, and there's an "xboxlive" folder with one song, called "rodgort". There's nothing special about it, haven't looked at the note chart but the audio is just standard Trogdor, probably the files are direct copies of the "trogdor" song folder. Just by looking at the file sizes, the only difference is in the .voc file for the song, which is about 10KB larger in the "rodgort" version (and is in fact the exact same file as trogdor.voc from the PS2 version, no idea why they changed it). I think that has to do with the singer's vocal animations, but I'm not entirely sure as I mostly work with the PS2 version and don't really care about the .voc when making customs. Either "rodgort" is visible on test 360 kits when using the retail game, or they didn't quite have the retail disc but a slightly earlier version of it. Just because a neighbour's name is Pom Pom doesn't mean it's a reference. Someone being named something unusual, like Coach Zee, or Homsar or Senor Cardgage would be a reference. By that logic, maybe we should make a "Real Life Sightings" and say that the things that cheerleaders use are called pom poms. And then we should say that them being called "cheerleaders" is a reference to Teen Girl Squad. And just tacking "'D!" onto the end of something isn't a reference. This needs to be changed.  +
I know this is old and all that, but yeah, I think this may be a valid reference. Trogdor was made in, what, 2003? Spore was made in 2008. In fact, I called the little guys baby Trogdors in my game. I will put it in as a reference until it gets deleted.(if it does) ~

:: Actually, Jay, it's a Maxis creature. Look it up in the ingame Sporepedia. EDIT: Actually, nevermind. The only way it reminds me of Trogdor, now that I take a closer look, is the green skin, the (sorta)beefy arms(FOUR to be exact), and the name. So yeah, add again if you feel the need to.

Banjo-Tooie
 +
 +
Edit was removed because "Banjo-Tooie predates Homestar Runner's rise to fame." In fact, Banjo-Tooie was released in North America eleven months and some days after the launching of the homestarrunner.com. More than a year for Europe.
 +
:They don't release a game the moment it's done though. Besides, it predates Homestar Runner's rise to fame. The producers at Rare, which is a British company, wouldn't have heard of a small cartoon being done in Georgia since HSR grew through word of mouth. 22:54, 8 October 2008 (UTC)
 +
:: "They don't release a game the moment it's done though." I'm sorry, I don't understand that sentence. There is also no edvidence that the developers at Rare didn't know about HR. Just because Rare is based in the UK and HR in Georgia does not mean that "word of mouth" couldn't be in the United Kingdom. As far as I know, the internet works based on being able to send and recieve signals from cables and satelites, not from being close to where is something is happening. For example, I knew about an Austrailian videogame review show, that grew from word of mouth, from the very begining, and I live 12,000km away from Australia! Therefore, you nor anyone else has conclusive evidence that Homestar's presence was not in the United Kingdom by 2000.
 +
::: It certainly wasn't popular in 2000. Anyway, the reference was concerning the word "Marzipan". Follow that link if you want to see why it probably wasn't a reference. -- 00:44, 9 October 2008 (UTC)
 +
::: PS. What Bluebry meant is that games do not just appear out of the aether. They take time to develop. -- again.
 +
:::: Certainly games take time, but look at the way games are developed. The functions such as walking, jumping, running, attacking, ect. are programed first. The Levels second. Story last. Because the quiz where the refrence is made is based on all the story so far, it is likely that it was one of the last things added, early to mid 2000. Most likely a Rare employ just said, "Oh bugger, I've got a deadline so I'll just add this question and make one of the answers a refrence to some website some Yankes showed to me." While an arguement that the Marzipan refrenced is indeed the culanary item, that dosen't follow Banjo-Tooie's humor. Most of Banjo-Tooie's humor was referential. For examble there is a Donkey Kong doll, a Wikipedia:Donkey Kong 64 logo, Wikipedia:Ash Ketchum's hat, the internet, among others. Most of these are from the late 90s or early 2000s. Given that a large amout of humour was based off this time period, and that many people worked on this game, and that HR was spread by word of mouth, leads us to conclude that there is a plausible chance of the refrence being from the character
 +
::::: But even if I accept that it is plausible (which I still don't, for the record), you still have not managed to show that it is likely to be a reference. There's no connection besides the usage of the word "marzipan", which is a real word. That's not enough. If there was a character who said something like "By Marzipan's blonde ponytail!", or Kazooie made a remark like "Gosh, you're a dirtier hippie than Marzipan!", then that would clearly be a reference. This? Not. Sorry. -- 08:29, 17 October 2008 (UTC)

Breath of Fire 2 retranslation.
 +
 +
Not sure if fan (re)translations count, but Breath of Fire 2 for SNES was recently... well, fan re-translated. And I've already counted no fewer than three possible H*R references...
 +
 +
1) When you're taking Bosch (Bow in the original) in the trashcan to Township, after popping out, he comments that he was "upgraded to 'stank'".
 +
 +
2) A sign outside Wyndia beckons travellers to "come the heck down" to Whale Cape. Sounds innocent enough, but given it's related, in-game, to a *whale*... ehem... Well...
 +
 +
3) In the Wise Tree's mind, an old man who tries to teleport you out and makes a mistake... after talking to him again, though, he says he'll teleport you out again... "for reals this time". That one's a bit dubious, but given the other two... it's probably intentional.
 +
 +
And... there're probably more. I'm not actually that far. The latter of them came from a friend of mine, who just flies through games. So... yeah. I can provide screenshots if anyone wants proof. Again, dunno if this counts, but eh, figured I'd mention it anyhow. (Also, forgive me if anyone brought this up already. I didn't do a thorough search or anything.) - 18:57, 3 May 2009 (UTC)

 +
You forgot where Bosch says "When have I ever backed down from a bad idea?" after he agrees to sneak into Trout's house a second time. Also, hi there.
 +
 +
I only wish I could've included more references to the Drive-Thru Whale in relation to Whale Cape...there's a line in the script where someone asks you to buy a Bunwhale, saying "It's not like I'm asking you to sever your leg!"...but strangely enough, I couldn't find it in my alpha playthrough. Ah, well.--Ryusui 08:53, 30 May 2009 (UTC)

: I was just playing this, and there's a scene where the party members have trouble swimming. If Sten is in your party, he says "I can't feel my parts." This is an interesting case - this isn't the official translation, but it definitely has Homestar Runner references in it. No one added it in the four-plus years since it came out, but it could fit. Maybe. -- 07:04, 15 December 2013 (UTC)

A high powered monster that looks and acts suspiciously like Trogdor appears in the Runescape Minigame: Fight Caves. Its name is Yet-MajKot and it is a dragon-thing. It is S shaped, it shoots fire, it has spinities (some of which look like wings and a beefy arm). It is even mentioned on runescape.wikia.org article that he looks like ol' Troggy. I have managed to provide an image. --Jellote 20:46, 26 May 2009 (UTC)
 +
 +
:Hmmmm. Apart from the vague S shape it has and the fact it's standing on two legs, it doesn't really look anything like Trogdor to me. It doesn't have a single beefy arm, it doesn't have many consummate V's on its body and it's not even green. By using similar logic, you could argue that any dragon able to stand on its hind legs is a rip-off of Trogdor, if you ignore the fact that Trogdor is unlikely to have been the first bipedal dragon ever. So that dragon looks way too generic to be a homage to me. (By the way, does it have only one not-so-beefy arm?) 16:35, 27 May 2009 (UTC)

Runescape. For reals this time.
 +
 +
Out of compulsion, I searched for "Homestar" on the Runescape wiki and came up with three, count 'em, THREE results. The first is for the non-player-character Gjalp, whose examine text says "Behold her beefy arms". Not that strong of a reference, but moivng on: the Strang Object, when lit, will say "A strange little parcel. On fire." The interjection of "On fire" seems to refer to caffine. The last, weakest one is your character will mispronoune the princess's name as Marzipan. The only thing that suggest that this refers to her and not the food and Chowder location is that this quest was made when Marzipan was considered to be Princess of Town. After searching for H*R keywords I ound nothing more. Seriously. I didn't make these this time. I really found them. My username in Momo Mooman, and if you search the page history you'll see no mention of my username. Seriously. For reals. I know that from last time I stated something blatently incorrect, but this time I did my homework. This is for real. Hopefully.--Jellote wuz here 17:03, 21 July 2009 (UTC)

Tom, you're a step ahead of me. I came here to make a similar note. I'm not sure I ever imagined we'd reach a thousand articles back when I started this wiki. Good jorb, everyone! — wikisig.gif Joey (talk·edits) 21:19, 12 May 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Albino Blacksheep

In a new Flash game on albinoblacksheep.com, parodying Everquest, one of the characters has a "Summoning" ability which can be used to summon Trogdor the Burninator. I'm not sure, however, if this should go under Games or Animation...

Well it's a game, so it should go under games. Makes sense to me. --phlip TC 00:46, 26 Jul 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Delete Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas?

Driving around Las Venturas, one can find a "Bub's Hardware." The sign also seems to say something about "Cheats." A map is included here.

 • This seems like a stretch. All the other examples are clear references, or at least very likely to be, but this one could easily be pure coincidence. Anybody else think it should be deleted? — Bill 21:59, 6 December 2005 (UTC)

I have no way of proving it for you, but it doesn't sound too unlikely to me. Mostly because of the "Late 360" etc., which was a skateboarding allusion to begin with. And the sightings in the other Tony Hawk game above add credibility. —AbdiViklas 22:39, 3 January 2006 (UTC)
I actually have the game myself, so I should probably play it and see for myself before complaining. (Side note: I actually noticed the Limozeen sighting in THUG 1, but i thought it coincidence. -Marth 99 22:41, 3 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Vampire the Masquerade:Bloodlines

When buying fuel for the flame thrower, the fuel is called "Burninator brand".-Hitokiri Akins

[edit] Kingdom Hearts II

In Kingdom Hearts II, when fighting the Hydra, there is a reaction command called Urninator. This is only one letter off from Burninator. Think I should add it? - Zyborg 4/13/06 (Edit: The strategy guide said Everybody to the Limit, not the manual. Although, the strategy guide is most likely official. I'll add the Urninator to the page, delete if necessary.)

I checked Amazon for strategy guides for Kingdom Hearts II. I found out that the guide is made by BradyGames, not Square Enix(the company that makes KH2). The Everybody to the Limit reference in the strategy guide should really go under books instead.

Though I think the Urninator reference might be legit. The Hydra is a dragon, just like ol' Troggie.

Other Sightings, then. We don't have a "books" section. Maybe magazines? --DorianGray

[edit] Killer7

 • I'm going to go out on a limb and say this is NOT a reference; seeing as Gouichi Suda has an obsession with lucha libre in general, it's not surprising that Yoon-Hyun's mask looks like Strong Bad's. It's a coincidence. Danny Lilithborne 07:52, 17 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Fully Ramblomatic

Two of the games on this site have obvious H*R refernces. First off, Adventures in the Galaxy of Fantabulous Wonderment has one of them. About a third of the way through the game, one of your redshirts is zapped by a lazer security system thing and says, "Ow! My most of me!"

Secondly, the special edition of 7 Days a Skeptic. If you go to the captain's console and type in 'Pasta Sauce', it shows a "How Do You Type With Boxing Gloves" email. Remember, this is the special edition and does not work with the normal one.

Figured you guys would want to know

Can someone confirm this? I honestly don't think it's real, Homestar had a small fanbase at the time of its release.

[edit] toontown

[edit] Alchmist's Apprentice

There's a new online game called Alchemist's Apprentice that has an item called "whatsit" described thusly: "This soft, sticky, stinky substance is an excellent fertilizer and chief projectile weapon of simians."

I've never heard reference to "whatsit" outside of HomestarRunner.com, but I could be wrong, and I don't know how to properly edit this page. Is this a reference?

 • Well, I've certainly never heard of "whatsit" describing excrement outside of H*R, and the quote certainly suggests that meaning. Searching Wikipedia for "whatsit" brings you to a disambiguation page that doesn't mention that definition, so I'd say it's a reference. -Unknownwarrior33 02:03, 28 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Guitar Hero II

Wait until it comes out. Mmm... I CAN'T WAIT THAT LONG!!!

See Trogdor (song)#Trivia. -- Tom 23:05, 28 October 2006 (UTC)

I just watched the X-Play Review of Guitar Hero II on the Xbox 360, and what they had was a final copy, obviously, and they showed a section that showed a downladed track (the section was called "Downloaded Songs") called "Rodgort"....is this a reference to Trogdor?

I think that's a test DLC track actually stored on the disc, which was not enabled in the actual retail copy of the game. 66.191.227.97 16:05, 20 May 2012 (UTC)

I'd buy it. Between the Everybody to the Limit and the moon refs, it sounds plausible. --DorianGray

Also, if you notice, the first level is called "Date Night" Which might be a refrence to the H*R cartoon of the same name This'n. but that might be a stretch.

[edit] H*R Shirt

A character in Tony Hawk's Downhill Jam wears a top suspiciously similar to Homestar's. Since the other Tony game-sightings, will this count? Marvelrulez

[edit] Full Auto 2 versions

I added the reference for Full Auto 2, but I can only be sure that it's in the PSP version. I know the PSP and PS3 versions of the game are very different, so I specified which version. Is it in both versions? -Unknownwarrior33 02:01, 28 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Baleeted

Two things:

-I added the Crackdown Double Deuce thing. -I deleted the Dead or Alive 4 thing. Why? Because that was the signature of whoever this person was fighting at the time. You see, when fighting over Xbox Live your opponents Sig will appear as the message in the Gamblers Paradise stage. This might not be clear. Maybe someone could clarify for all the beautiful peoples? (However, that is a nice find) -Dwigt 01:34, 14 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Sam & Max

about a month back I've added a refrence to Sam & Max Ep.5, see http://www.hrwiki.org/index.php?title=Game_Sightings&oldid=442179#Sam_.26_Max:_Reality_2.0 This however was removed by user Shwoo stating "it might be a coinicidence". I did not wan't to spoil too much of the game, so I didn't go into specifics, but in fact the "character" which I quoted was, in fact an Arcade machine, which I think strengthens the fact that this is a refrence to the site. On a side note, the whole episode is Internet/computer/Video game centric, filled with references such as "It's-a me, Sam!" and so. Please reconsider adding it to the sightings section. 84.108.73.241 18:47, 28 April 2007 (UTC)

I've looked at it and have concluded that it's not a valid reference. It says "Your goggles explode! Game Over!", but the reason why I feel it isn't a reference is because a) it's grammatically correct, unlike "Your head a splode", and b) if it really was a reference, it would have been "a splode", not "explode". – The Chort 19:29, 28 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Does Postal 2 count?

I am not cautious due to the extremely offensive nature of the game, but rather because the Homestar Runner references are only included in a fanmade expansion mod. However, the publisher of the game has included this mod in a commercial compilation. Would this be eligible for inclusion?

Personally, I don't think so. This strikes me as a page for references by full-time developers, not people who love a game and have a bit of programming skill. I could personally mod a game and release it, but I doubt it'd be included here. But that's just my personal opinion, I feel it ought to get approval or disproval from someone higher thought of here.--Gaeamil 12:05, 20 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Portal

Valve's game of Portal, recently released, contains, in the room of the final fight (on the left when you enter the room), there is a red telephone. The receiver is disconnected, about 2 inches from the receiver itself, almost exactly like the phones in the H*R universe. I can upload a picture of it to my personal site if you want to see it. Not entirely sure if it really is a reference, but it certainly struck me as one, hence the discussion before inclusion.--Gaeamil 11:50, 20 December 2007 (UTC)

I really doubt its a reference. The phone cord is cut for plot reasons. (I won't give away those plot reasons right now, but I can if necessary.) -DAGRON 12:28, 20 December 2007 (UTC).
Yeah, I see that. Also, I was thinking it was because of technological reasons, ie, the HL2 engine. Since you could pick up the receiver, the cord would be incredibly inconvenient to program in. Again, that's why I put it in discussion rather than on the page. But, it's still possible, and only the people at Valve can tell us for sure.--Gaeamil 13:08, 20 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Red Steel

In the Wii game Red Steel, when you enter a name, all of the lowercase letters look like a smaller-font uppercase letter -- except for the I, which gets a dot. Reference to the way it's written on H*R?--Gaeamil (Not logged in)

[edit] Halo-star Runner?

Uh... about the recent Halo reference, is this notable? If my research is correct, Halo came out in 2001, which was probably before the character videos were made. Maybe H*R is instead referencing Halo-or its just a coincidence. Thoughts? Guys? Grapity? DevonM(talk·cont-ribs) 21:30, 29 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] 1942 Joint Strike

I don't know... Is the quote "shoot-em-up" good enough? I got the demo for the game, and a short info blip it forces you to read at the beginning says:

"The popular 80's arcade franchise is back! 1948 Joint Strike combines classic shoot-em-up gameplay with 3D HD graphics. Rejoin the battle" (Bold text not form quoted text; used to show reffrence)

[edit] It's not a reference (Animal Crossing)

Just because a neighbour's name is Pom Pom doesn't mean it's a reference. Someone being named something unusual, like Coach Zee, or Homsar or Senor Cardgage would be a reference. By that logic, maybe we should make a "Real Life Sightings" and say that the things that cheerleaders use are called pom poms. And then we should say that them being called "cheerleaders" is a reference to Teen Girl Squad. And just tacking "'D!" onto the end of something isn't a reference. This needs to be changed. [edit] Spore: Troglor (Trogdor) Made by the company.

I have Spore and one of the monsters on the sporepedia made by Maxis is Troglor, who looks alot like Trogdor. --HR1FANJ Talk. 11:25, 1 October 2008 (UTC)

I know this is old and all that, but yeah, I think this may be a valid reference. Trogdor was made in, what, 2003? Spore was made in 2008. In fact, I called the little guys baby Trogdors in my game. I will put it in as a reference until it gets deleted.(if it does) ~Star Guy T/C

I have searched the Sporepedia and I don't see a Troglor. Link? --Jay (Gobble) 07:27, 13 August 2010 (UTC)
Actually, Jay, it's a Maxis creature. Star Guy T/C

[edit] Banjo-Tooie

Edit was removed because "Banjo-Tooie predates Homestar Runner's rise to fame." In fact, Banjo-Tooie was released in North America eleven months and some days after the launching of the homestarrunner.com. More than a year for Europe.

They don't release a game the moment it's done though. Besides, it predates Homestar Runner's rise to fame. The producers at Rare, which is a British company, wouldn't have heard of a small cartoon being done in Georgia since HSR grew through word of mouth. Bluebry 22:54, 8 October 2008 (UTC)
"They don't release a game the moment it's done though." I'm sorry, I don't understand that sentence.
It certainly wasn't popular in 2000. Anyway, the reference was concerning the word "Marzipan". Follow that link if you want to see why it probably wasn't a reference. --Jay (Gobble) 00:44, 9 October 2008 (UTC)
PS. What Bluebry meant is that games do not just appear out of the aether. They take time to develop. --Jay (Gobble) again.
Certainly games take time, but look at the way games are developed.
But even if I accept that it is plausible (which I still don't, for the record), you still have not managed to show that it is likely to be a reference. This? Not. Sorry. --Jay (Gobble) 08:29, 17 October 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Persona 4 reference

The Persona 4 reference I added, which was a mention of "the jibblies", was removed for the following reason:

(that word was not invented here. it is unlikely a reference)

...it wasn't? I know I had never heard of it before H*R, and not very often after. I don't want to start an edit/revert war, but I would like to get some thoughts from other uses. Do "jibblies" constitute a reference? -GG Crono 19:58, 10 January 2009 (UTC)

No. Plain and simple, H*R did not invent the word. — Defender1031*Talk 23:01, 10 January 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Animal Crossing: Wild World

In Wild world, there is a female duck named Pompom, but, I don't believe it's a reference. The Duck has the "peppy" personality, which is a reference to cheerleaders who use pompoms.

Yeah, I wouldn't say its a reference unless she talked in bubbles. *laughs* ~Homsartifact124 20:42, 21 July 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Breath of Fire 2 retranslation.

Not sure if fan (re)translations count, but Breath of Fire 2 for SNES was recently... well, fan re-translated. And I've already counted no fewer than three possible H*R references...

1) When you're taking Bosch (Bow in the original) in the trashcan to Township, after popping out, he comments that he was "upgraded to 'stank'".

2) A sign outside Wyndia beckons travellers to "come the heck down" to Whale Cape. Sounds innocent enough, but given it's related, in-game, to a *whale*... ehem... Well...

3) In the Wise Tree's mind, an old man who tries to teleport you out and makes a mistake... after talking to him again, though, he says he'll teleport you out again... "for reals this time". That one's a bit dubious, but given the other two... it's probably intentional.

And... there're probably more. I didn't do a thorough search or anything.) -YKHi. I'm Ayjo! 18:57, 3 May 2009 (UTC)

You forgot where Bosch says "When have I ever backed down from a bad idea?" after he agrees to sneak into Trout's house a second time. Also, hi there.

I was just playing this, and there's a scene where the party members have trouble swimming. If Sten is in your party, he says "I can't feel my parts." This is an interesting case - this isn't the official translation, but it definitely has Homestar Runner references in it. No one added it in the four-plus years since it came out, but it could fit. Maybe. --Jay (Gobble) 07:04, 15 December 2013 (UTC)

[edit] Trogdor the P0wninator

Trogdor's lookalike suffering one damage

Yt-MejKot.gif yt-mejkot180.gif

A high powered monster that looks and acts suspiciously like Trogdor appears in the Runescape Minigame: Fight Caves. Its name is Yet-MajKot and it is a dragon-thing. It is S shaped, it shoots fire, it has spinities (some of which look like wings and a beefy arm). It is even mentioned on runescape.wikia.org article that he looks like ol' Troggy. I have managed to provide an image. --Jellote 20:46, 26 May 2009 (UTC)

Hmmmm. (By the way, does it have only one not-so-beefy arm?) – The Chort 16:35, 27 May 2009 (UTC)
I don't really see any clear reference to Trogdor either, especially when looked at from a couple of different angles.  Green Helmet 20:00, 27 May 2009 (UTC)
I have a confession: I was the one who put that on the wikia. I don't know if that is fair, but either way I have since removed the fact and left a memo to my own post on the talk page. Rest in peace: Trodor the P0wninator. --Jellote 19:57, 29 May 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Runescape. For reals this time.
