New Games Menu

Easter Eggs

  • Click the center "Games Menu... 1982 Videlectrix" to go to the ((Videlectrix)) website.
  • Click on the level number to change the backgrounds.
  • When you collect on of the power-ups that appear occasionally, the character changes.
    • The Characters are: Homestar (HS Pill), Stinkoman (SB Pill), 20X6 Coach Z (Z Pill), 20X6 The Cheat (Cheat Texture Pill) and Pan Pan (P Pill).

Fun Facts

  • The game menu is a reference to side scrolling shoot 'em ups. The idea was simple: blast enemies, snag power-ups and avoid collisions.
  • Level 1 (landscape) is modeled after Xevious (by Namco, 1982).
    • Level 2 (sea/ships) is modeled after 1941 (by Capcom, 1984).
    • Level 3 (space) is probably a reference to Galaxian (by Namco, 1979) and Galaga (by Namco, 1981), though neither game had nebulae.
  • The capsules are from Arkanoid (by Taito, 1986).
  • This is the first time a 20X6 The Cheat and 20X6 Coach Z have ever been shown.
  • The "Old Games" ship is an airplane with smoke coming out it and is similar to one from Time Pilot (Konami, 1982).
  • When you choose Pan Pan, his mouth moves even though he communicates by bouncing, seen in ((Under Construction)).
  • When this menu was first released, the information bar at the bottom (score, brand, level) was not there. It was added shortly thereafter.
  • The 'Ready!' that you see when you enter the menu is from one of the NES !MegaMan games.
    • The word "Ready!" also appears in several other classic games like Dig Dug (C) 1981 Namco , Galaga (C) 1981 Namco, and PacMan (C) 1980 Namco.
      • I think he means the classic NES font and placement of "Ready".
  • The continually rolling "1982 Videlectrix" bar at the bottom is a reference to a similar animation that appeared in most Atari 2600 games made by Activision.
  • The ships have similarities to the characters they represent.
  • Oddly, this menu breaks out of the black frame that encloses the site. The edges are square and its longer. Weird.
  • You can never get a score higher than 0000 as of 7/29/04.
  • The page title, "Shots do NOT hurt other players...yet." is from the classic arcade game "Gauntlet."
  • Each of the character's ships has a different speed (How fast it can keep up with the mouse). From fastest to slowest: The Cheat, Homestar, Stinkoman, Coach Z, and Pan Pan.

Old Games Menu

Choosing "Old Games" on the above menu brings you to the "Super Old Games-n-Such" menu, a modified version of the previous games menu, modeled after an old Nintendo Game and Watch. The games listed there are:

Other Games (secret, old, etc.)

There are also other games that don't appear on the Homestar Runner games menu, which are old games, games that appeared on another page or in the cartoons. Here is a list of those games:
