Hi, Heimstern Läufer!
 +
 +
A user named Druelselstein X2000 wants to "improve" those orders of Strong Bad's and The Cheat's commentaries on Main Page 15, and I don't care if that guy's doing at this situation, like messing up with Homestar Runner Wiki. But he wants to improve the orders of Strong Bad's and The Cheat's commentaries on Main Page 15. I dare not agree with that user, and I only want Main Page 15 as it is. So... look out with Druelselstein X2000, he can sometimes mess up with Homestar Runner Wiki, but I just don't care of how those orders of Strong Bad's and The Cheat's commentaries on Main Page 15 is, but it doesn't make any sense for us, especially me. So now you are with me also, Heimstern Läufer! :)

Fourth Wall Breaks?

Hey Heimstern, I was just looking around the list of articles that need cleaning-up and I noticed that Fourth Wall Breaks is on there. When you look at its talk page, it says that it's a featured article. Just curious, but why is it a featured article if it's marked for cleanup? -TVK 06:17, 7 August 2008 (UTC)

Well, the problems that need cleanup may have developed after the article was featured, or it may simply be that we noticed problems that we didn't notice at the time of the feature. Note that we aren't quite as strict about the quality of our featured articles as Wikipedia is, also. Heimstern Läufer 18:39, 8 August 2008 (UTC)
Gotcha. I'm just used to 'kipedia I guess, but thanks for the update!

Sandbox thing

How do I at least get the CODE for my sandbox thing back after that guy got rid of it? Can you please help me? Acam30 04:46, 12 August 2008 (UTC)

You can find in this revision. Heimstern Läufer 04:47, 12 August 2008 (UTC)
Yes, thank you. I figured it out. Acam30 04:48, 12 August 2008 (UTC)
Incidentally, Heimstern's post there points out a useful feature. Namely, you don't have to keep reverting the sandbox to any particular revision (and getting worked up in the process) in order for GreenHelmet to see it. Just use the permanent link. — It's dot com 04:52, 12 August 2008 (UTC)

German

Marshie is saying "You can't destroy me!". I believe it's from the sbmail candy bar. Ivoj Nob(HAP-E*HOLIDAYS) 18:49, 14 September 2008 (UTC)

Yes. Though that quote had already been translated previously. Still, good work. Heimstern Läufer 01:00, 15 September 2008 (UTC)

I speak German. What's that little German contest you got on your userpage? With the language I'm not the best at it, but I could probably live fine in Germany. Es war eine gute Idee sein, daß Homestar Runner in Deutsch als Ihren Benutzernamen. Danke! —Mas12806 (talk·contribs) 03:46, 29 November 2008 (UTC)

I haven't done the German contest in a while. It was basically something where people guess what lines from toons I've written in German. Heimstern Läufer 07:37, 30 November 2008 (UTC)
Oh I see. Thanks. Also Sie nicht tun ein jederzeit schnell wieder? —Mas12806 (talk·contribs) 22:55, 8 December 2008 (UTC)

Complaint from Homsarstrongbad150

i already told you peoples why i edited my page is because i thought i never got a reply that mike sent and he was clearly online because i saw him edit a page. most people check their e-mail daily. technically, you're not it's dot com, so you weren't asked to not block me, but i had a good reason this time. on top of that, it is my page, so why should i not be able to edit it. someone get Q over here. he'll agree that thinking the email was missing somewhere in the internet is a good enough reason to post there. and it is MY page. i should be able to use it. get Q over here. he'll agree. we're buds. he's on my cool users list. y'know what? i'm going to get Q, and i'm going to see what joeyday thinks of you. yeah, that's right. i'm going to the top, asking the big man. this was one edit, do you get it? i think i never got the reply to my email, so i asked, and now i can't use my own talk page for 2 days. so i did try not to post there. i had a legit reason to this time. that was a good question.

"thanks a lot", says HSB150Homsarstrongbad150Homestar Runner!! 03:11, 19 October 2008 (UTC) sarcastically and angrily

I know perfectly well that you've told us why you edited your talk page. Your reason was not acceptable. The fact that you are having email problems or that Michael did not reply as quickly as you thought he should have does not mean we have to let you use HRWiki as a messaging service. As for your assertion that it's your talk page, you are entirely mistaken. Your talk page does not belong to you, it belongs to the entire wiki, and therefore it's subject to all the wiki's guidelines and policies. Your use of your talkpage is a privilege, and, since you abused that privilege, it was revoked. Call for Qermaq, JoeyDay, Tom, whoever to look over my edits and admin actions as much as you want; I believe they stand on their own and that most users will completely understand. You, by contrast, have taken actions that have gotten you blocked for a week. And did you notice that no one is defending you? That should cause you to think that just maybe you might be in the wrong, and not me, Phlip, Dot com and others who've warned and taken administrative action against you. Please realize also that if you return to this behaviour after your block is over, you can expect to be blocked again for longer (possibly indefinitely). Heimstern Läufer 06:24, 19 October 2008 (UTC)
Hate to break it to you, Homsarstrongbad150, but Heimi is 100% in the good here. You were not requested to avoid chat on your user talk if it was convenient - you were told absolutely that a consequence was awaiting further misuse of the talk, and when that happened you got that consequence. There's really no wiggle room here. Specific behavior was expected of you, and you didn't demonstrate it. Hopefully in the next days you can cool off a little and come back prepared to follow the standards, policies and guidelines we all share here in order to make it pleasant for all the users. Just wondering...

Is referring to someone "n00b" considered flaming? I've been careful to restrain myself, but I was just curious. Something tells me it's not a good idea. ~That Guy Over There (User talk:That Guy Over There) 04:27, 23 October 2008 (UTC)

I was just going down my user talk page recently and discovered that I left this question unanswered. Sorry about that, I forgot; didn't mean to ignore you or anything. Anyway, I'm not sure "n00b" is always flaming, but it's pretty much never a nice word, so I would advise against using it. "Newbie" can be a nice alternative sometimes, incidentally. Heimstern Läufer 11:13, 9 November 2008 (UTC)
I actually prefer avoiding calling attention to it altogether - just say "I know this is new for you" or "It's clear you are like me when I first edited a wiki" or something. Particularly with a 'newbie', one should avoid language that might exclude and might telegraph their possible inferiority. They probably feel like an outsider, and the goal is to make them feel like they are welcome to edit as much as any insider. The language we use should reflect that. Qermaq - (T/C) Image:Qermaqsigpic.png 13:09, 9 November 2008 (UTC)
Just for clarification, I have never referred to anyone as "n00b" on the wiki. I'm a good boy. ~That Guy Over There (User talk:That Guy Over There) 15:33, 9 November 2008 (UTC)

Heimy vs. Heimi?

I never knew it was "Heimi" instead of "Heimy"? Weird. User talk:Sam the Man Sam the Man 22:24, 9 November 2008 (UTC)

YES IT IS HEIMI. NO IT IS NOT HEIMY. THANK YOU. xD I prefer to call him Heimi. Acam30 04:22, 10 November 2008 (UTC)
Umm, yay shouting? And the reason it's "Heimi" is that it's a German name, and therefore follows the German practice of having "i" instead of "y" (which is largely a foreign character in that language). Heimstern Läufer 04:35, 10 November 2008 (UTC)

 • Me again, Heimstern! And since I'm at your talk page, I was kind of wondering about replacing my old user shortcut with a signature just to make it look cöoler. Sorry about the "ö" in cooler. So until then, keep up the good work. -Umläut76 14:01, 22 November 2008 (UTC)

German Contest

Are you going to be doing another German Contest, I can speak quite a bit of German, for example:

Hallo!

I couldn't get umlauts and please forgive me if my spelling sucks.

(ALJ123456 17:02, 9 December 2008 (UTC))

It's not too bad, really! Viel Spaß beim Wikiing! Heimstern Läufer 04:10, 22 December 2008 (UTC)

Hallo!

HI! Thanks for being so welcoming! I showed the translation of the names to my friend who is also taking german, and likes HR, and she wants to know if there is a transaltion for Sterrance? Thanks! -Stark Traurig

I don't think there would be, no. It seems like it's basically just a proper name that wouldn't be translatable (like Bubs). Incidentally, instead of typing out your username, you can write four tildes (like this: ~~~~) and it'll add your name and a link to your userpage. Hope that helps! What the...

Why did you revert this image? I liked the newer version a lot better. MichaelXX2 mail_icon.gif link_icon.gif 01:24, 22 December 2008 (UTC)

I reverted it because you shouldn't have overwritten an existing image with a completely different image, since some people may still want to use the old image. If you want to use the new image, upload it under a completely separate filename. Notice also that Bad Bad Guy is currently using that image on his userpage. By re-uploading that image, you effectively changed his userpage, which I don't think I need to tell you isn't acceptable. Heimstern Läufer 01:28, 22 December 2008 (UTC)

double post

Sorry about that, not sure how it happened. —Guard Duck talk 05:38, 6 January 2009 (UTC)

Usually when that happens, it means you hit save a couple times and thus the system registered your post twice. It's especially common if the page takes a long time to load after hitting save: you're like "what's taking so long?" and you hit save again, but actually it already got it the first time, and hitting save again causes a double post. I dunno if that's what happened here. In any case, it's no big deal, as it was easy to revert to one post. Heimstern Läufer 05:41, 6 January 2009 (UTC)

Thanks!

Hey thanks for blocking that Ren Guy. Me and MichealXX2 kept reverting his vandalism till a sysop like you came! Thanks again!-Record307 Talk/Contribs 01:47, 7 March 2009 (UTC)

No problem. This sort of thing happens sometime (like that one time in '06 when Lapper and I kept reverting an annoying vandal all night after all the sysops went to bed). Keep it up. Heimstern Läufer 02:02, 7 March 2009 (UTC)

Today I saw some kid wearing a sweatshirt that said "HEMI". Like the car or whuteva. And unconciously I think my mind said "HEIMI!!!" really loud and with extra exclamation points. LOL, i felt I just had to share that. xD Acam30 03:46, 2 April 2009 (UTC)

Huzzah! (Sorry for the delay; was on vacation last weekend and then forgot about this message until now.) Heimstern Läufer 10:41, 12 April 2009 (UTC)

An extremely important issue

Is this legitimate German?

I have no way to tell because I am German-illiterate but you are my German go-to guy okay - Super Sam 06:46, 19 June 2009 (UTC)

Not sure what this is I'm reading, but to provide a brief analysis: Of course, the ending line and stage direction, being written in English, are not legitimate German. I suspect (would hope!) you already knew this. The opening line, SB's line and The Cheat's line are legitimate German, except the word "basebell", which is neither a legitmate German nor English word, so far as I'm aware. I find Homestar's line very curious. In and of itself, it doesn't make a grammatical or logical sentence, but leave out that "Hallo" at the beginning and throw in a couple umlauts and some better capitalization, and you've got the title of a duet from Mozart's The Magic Flute, "Bei Männern welche Liebe fühlen". How that fits the context of the rest of this work is beyond me. So, there you go. I guess the answer to your original question is "kind of". Heimstern Läufer 07:12, 19 June 2009 (UTC)

Sandbox deletion

When you deleted the Sandbox, you basically erased eleven thousand edits that I can't get back - I timeout before the undelete page loads. Would have been better just to edit the Sandbox to no longer be a redirect. Too late now (hopefully Dot com can fix it?), but just a heads-up for next time. --Jay v.2024 (Auld lang syne) 02:11, 18 July 2009 (UTC)

The deletion was accidental because Phlip and I attempted to revert a move at the same time: the result being that he moved it, and then I accidentally deleted it to make way for a move (an incorrect move, since it had already been made). And yes, we can't do anything about it for now, though I imagine DC should be able to. Incidentally, I've just had an idea that might be appropriate to stop this from happening again. Heimstern Läufer 02:15, 18 July 2009 (UTC)
Oooohhhhh... my apologies. I didn't read far enough into Recentchanges to fully comprehend what happened. Sorry for making it sound like you did something wrong. But, yeah, turning off moving was a good plan... shame it didn't happen sooner. --Jay v.2024 (Auld lang syne)
Never seemed necessary until this evening, did it? That's always the way; no one realizes what preventative measures they need until the thing that needs preventing occurs. No problem about misreading the situation, by the way; it was rather confusing. Heimstern Läufer 02:24, 18 July 2009 (UTC)
I'm concerned. Are the edits salvagable? --Jellote wuz here 02:42, 18 July 2009 (UTC)

DELETION!!!!!

HOW DO I DELETE A PAGE!!!!!!!!!! I WANT TO HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!-Espe Pwnage

Only sysops can delete pages. Heimstern Läufer 02:53, 15 August 2009 (UTC)
Man, I really wanted to help with that vandal!-Espe Pwnage
Well, if there are no sysops around, you can use Vandalism to tag the page. But if there's already a sysop dealing with it, it's not necessary. Also, it's not a good idea to shout and yell when we have vandals around; seeing people react that way may actually make them want to troll even more. If a sysop's around, they'll get to cleaning it up whether you shout or not. Heimstern Läufer 03:02, 15 August 2009 (UTC)
On a related note, I do hope that you sysops have a way of deleting/surpressing the edits made tonight, since I really don't want to have those show up in the histories... ick. wbwolf (t | ed) 06:04, 17 August 2009 (UTC)
I'll mention it to DC; he can do that sort of thing. Heimstern Läufer 06:05, 17 August 2009 (UTC)

uploads

Hey, first of all, thanks for the comment on my talk page. Nice to hear from some old friends. Second, due to my hiatus, I've forgotten how to upload pictures. Can you please give me a refresher course? LePorello / T / C 17:54, 22 August 2009 (UTC)

I may not be the best person to ask that question, since I don't do much with images. Assuming you're using the default skin, the upload file button should be in the toolbox on the left. If you need more help than that, you can ask and I'll get someone to answer your question. Heimstern Läufer 18:20, 22 August 2009 (UTC)
you should ask The Chort. he seems to know a lot about it whenever i upload a picture. The Knights Who Say Ni 04:25, 23 August 2009 (UTC)

What is with you trying to suck the fun out of anything? I (unfortunately) requested /b/ to eliminate you. However, I don't think the post went through. Ugozima Talk to me 08:37, 28 August 2009 (UTC)
From what I've seen, your definition of "fun" seems to be "posting hostile comments". In other words, trolling. Under that definition, I'll gladly suck the fun out of anything. Though before you continue to accuse me or try to get me "eliminated", I remind you that it was not I who banned you from the forum; indeed, it was done before I even saw the topic you made about me. In fact, the admin who banned you was ready to do so when you sent me that hostile PM on 31 July, about a week before your actual banning. He only didn't do so because I asked him not ban you. Heimstern Läufer 08:48, 28 August 2009 (UTC)
Yes, I know that you didn't ban me. It's just that since I do not know who banned me. (Nor do I want to know). But the point is, my definition of "fun" is Pokemon and Mario and Kirby and random animated gifs and torturing Sims in The Sims 2 and 3. Does that make me a bad person? Plus, I only "trolled", quotes due to the fact that I believe calling someone a moron isn't trolling someone as they've said it in Homestar cartons, why not here? Like three times. Ugozima Talk to me 10:09, 28 August 2009 (UTC)
Is there a reason we're having this conversation? You haven't asked me to do anything, nor have you brought any substantial discussion of my actions (only a vague reference to my "sucking the fun out of" things). If there's something you want to ask me to do or an action of mine you want to intelligently discuss, please do so. If not, I can't see that there's anything more for us to talk about. Heimstern Läufer 10:44, 28 August 2009 (UTC)
Yes, there is. From what you said, the admin who banned me wanted to do so due to the hostile PM I sent you. If I recall, the only hostile part of the PM was "Freaking Nazis". Now, that may seem hostile, but as any intelligent person may say (not saying you aren't) when someone is angry, they do things they regret. Like hitting a woman or starting a fight or saying n____. Also, I have received several PMs since I was banned, and since I'm banned I can't read them. Ugozima Talk to me 10:28, 29 August 2009 (UTC)
You still haven't told me what you want me to do, if anything. Heimstern Läufer 10:40, 29 August 2009 (UTC)
I just want to be unbanned to read the PMs. Ugozima Talk to me 11:06, 29 August 2009 (UTC)
From what I understand, you called him, or at least someone, a Naiz. If that was because he speaks German, that's actually just as, if not more offensive as the other N word. You are basically putting him down in a way that is frowned upon in most civilized conversation. Nazis were not good people, to say the very very very {goes on for ten minutes} least. To call someone that, even as a joke, is unnaceptable in my opinion. Just wanted to clear that up. This isn't up to me, but I just wanted to say what you did was wrong. I'll leave this to the people who have the happy power to ban people. L%C3%A4ufer, this is up to you. Do your worst. --Jellote wuz here 12:57, 29 August 2009 (UTC)
I was calling him a Nazi because he was trying to make the forums a serious place of discussion where you aren't allowed to really do anything fun on the forums. Just have serious discussion. Which, works for some forums. Forums for a web cartoon it doesn't. Ugozima Talk to me 13:06, 29 August 2009 (UTC)
At this point, we're not willing to unban you, sorry. I understand that people do in fact do things in anger that they later regret, such as your sending me that hostile PM, but that doesn't change the fact that people have to live with the consequences of those actions. Furthermore, it was not one offence but several that got you banned: your calling another user a moron and your hostile reply when I told you not to, the "Freaking Nazis" message and your "Go Funk yourself" thread (which, may I point out, you continued to post in after Homestone Wrecker pointed out that it was going to get you into trouble). Lose your temper once, that might be a minor thing; lose it repeatedly, that's different. The fact that you've continued to be hostile in this very thread on my talk hasn't helped your case either. In short, no, we're not unbanning you at this time. Heimstern Läufer 13:43, 29 August 2009 (UTC)
That may be, but as you yourself may be presently aware of, I screwed up my grammar in the last sentence. But, as you may know, if my memory serves me right, I made the Nazi comment in the same PM. Now, most, if not all forums, would do it in this order. Calling someone a moron. Warning in a post. Insulting someone in a PM, simply asking what was wrong and why I did it. Telling someone to go Funk Themselves, a warning, and depending on the severity, a temporary banning of up to a month or so. All aside, I just want to read the freaking PMs. Ugozima Talk to me 13:55, 29 August 2009 (UTC)
What other forums would do is immaterial. We are bound by no forum's convention save our own, and if we're a bit less tolerant of misbehaviour than some others, that is no one's business but our own. As for the PMs, you should have thought of that before you behaved in such a way as to get banned. If you know who sent them to you, have them resend them using another mode of communication. If not, sorry, you're out of luck. Heimstern Läufer 14:00, 29 August 2009 (UTC)
I didn't want to do this. I have ordered /b/ to place a DoS attack on the forums. Targeted only at you. They may or may not comply with it and effect anyone. I'm sorry. Ugozima Talk to me 14:08, 29 August 2009 (UTC)
Threatening a denial of service attack goes beyond a mere dispute between us. If you threaten the whole site, you are not welcome here, so I've blocked your account indefinitely. Heimstern Läufer 14:37, 29 August 2009 (UTC)
A DoS? Heimstern, you are eligible to call the cops on this guy! He's threatened to hack you and the site! Don't let his threats go unchecked! This guy could crash the site. Could he actually do this? Can we stop him? --Jellote wuz here 15:26, 29 August 2009 (UTC)

Drama on IRC - I need an adult

Could you please ban the user Jicem from the #hrwiki-fanstuff channel? He's been really annoying to all of us for months now and we'd just like a bit of peace. Here's a sample:

<Jicem> Until the Industrial Revolution, it wasn't easy to pick all that cotton and those crops

<Jicem> They needed help

He is talking about slavery. He's also been constantly ranting and raving about his extremely conservative agenda, even after we've requested him to stop. I know you don't have ops on that channel, but could you put in a word for us with the higher ups? That'd be swell. -- nachobra 19:44, 6 September 2009 (UTC)

Um, NachoMan, I know I didn't look good when I started out, but if you read all the logs, you know that I was giving a reasonable opinion. Plus, no one ever told me to stop, they just flamed and threatened me. JCM 00:35, 8 September 2009 (UTC)
First, for the record, I've spoken to NachoMan on IRC about this matter, and I believe that I've done everything I can on the matter. Secondly, as a general and purely advisory remark, I'd suggest we all be more sensitive about what we say and that we all do everything we can not to be easily offended. That's about all I have now. Oops!

Can you rename this. I forgot to add the [User:] in front of it. Espemon333 00:34, 2 October 2009 (UTC)

Please see my comment on your talk. In this case, it's not an issue because that page isn't allowed, anyway. In the future, if you need to rename a page, you can use the "move" tab at the talk of the page. Heimstern Läufer 00:41, 2 October 2009 (UTC)
Ok. As long as the contest stays. Get it gone, Espemon333 00:44, 2 October 2009 (UTC)

Comment

That comment that you reverted was a big embarrassment for me. I don't want to show those people who read through talk page archives, and I don't want to look at it every time I look at that archive. --FangoriouslyFotoshopStar.png 01:15, 3 January 2010 (UTC)

Then I suggest contacting the user who owns that talk page in private and asking him to remove it himself. And besides. How often do people read old talk page archives? Elcool (talk)(contribs) 05:40, 3 January 2010 (UTC)
What Elcool said, pretty much. It's not something for you to remove once it's been answered and even archived; instead, it needs to be the person who "owns" the archive. I don't think it should be that big an embarrassment; we all make mistakes from time to time, and most people who read it (which, as Elcool observes, is likely very few people, anyway) will likely chalk it up as a newbie error. And we've all made those. Heimstern Läufer 06:29, 3 January 2010 (UTC)

come back Heim, we miss you already - Super Sam 03:37, 4 February 2010 (UTC)

This sort of thing happens sometimes because I'm on a public webchat. I gather some other dork-on using it starts spamming, and to stop him, they have to temporarily kill the whole thing. I'm back now. Heimstern Läufer 04:14, 4 February 2010 (UTC)

Notes from Maudi

Hi, Heimstern Läufer!
