[edit] Fun Facts
[edit] Trivia
- "Cheer Up Coach Z" was previously downloadable as a Quote of the Week.
- "Homestar Runner Presents: Presents" was originally the background music for the toon of the same name. The vocal version is presented here for the first time.
- The YouTube description for this toon is "Check out some Decemberween songs!"
[edit] Remarks
- This toon does not include the songs "O Holy Crap" (from A Holiday Greeting), the holiday version of "Everybody, Everybody" (from the same toon as well as on Decemberween Email Menu), or "Everyone's Looking" (from A Decemberween Pageant).
- All of the MP3s are hosted on Videlectrix's website. The last time Videlectrix was used to host something other than its own sake was for hosting Non-Sequitur Champion for use in the Store.
- Brainkrieg's lyrics talk about spelling a cuss word on the roof with Christmas lights, not Decemberween lights.
- Strong Sad can be heard in the background of Homestar Presents: Presents, but he never gets any presents for Decemberween as he's always locked in the bathtub.
- The Brainkrieg video uses the old Flash paper background instead of the new, photographic one. This is probably because the graphics were copied from death metal.
- The audio quality in this toon is better than normal.
[edit] Fixed Goofs
- In the New Stuff section of the Toons menu, this toon was once listed at the bottom of the list as well as the top.
[edit] Inside References
- The format of this toon echoes that of Limozeen vs. sloshy.
- Each of the songs either appear in, or refer to, the following Decemberween toons:
- The Best Decemberween Ever ("O, Decemberween")
- Decemberween in July ("Seasonal Sweaters")
- Homestar Presents: Presents ("Homestar Runner Presents: Presents")
- Decemberween Short Shorts ("Cheer Up, Coach Z")
- Happy Dethemberween ("The Dethemberween Thnikkaman")
- Brainkrieg first appeared in death metal.
- Brainkrieg also sung words that start with the letters "De", followed by the refrain of "Jugga jigga wugga!"
- This is another reference to swearing and alcohol.
- In If I Don't Get Video Games..., Uncle Edgar's cigarette holder is another reference to smoking.
- The Homestar Runner Presents: Presents song references Homestar's past trend of getting terrible presents for the other characters, as seen in The Best Decemberween Ever and Homestar Presents: Presents.
[edit] Real-World References
- The toon title refers to Hooked on Classics, a 1980s series of albums that sought to revive interest in classical music by presenting a medley of classical songs over a then-modern disco background beat.
- The page title, "Listen to it Fizz!", was a slogan used by Alka-Seltzer in 1930s radio commercials.
- The storefronts seen while Brainkrieg is "hanging in front of the mall" are Burdines, a Florida-based department store absorbed by Macy's in 2004, and Babbage's, a software and video game retailer which became GameStop in 1999.
- Uncle Edgar resembles Hunter S. Thompson, as portrayed by Johnny Depp in Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas.
[edit] Fast Forward
- On December 12, 2017, a Twitter user expressed concern to @StrongBadActual that one of the song download links had stopped working. In response, a plain HTML page version of Hooked on Decemberween was released on the following day. This version contains download links to unzipped MP3s of the same songs, now hosted on homestarrunner.com proper.

[edit] Streaming Version
On December 9, 2019, the album Hooked on Decemberween was added to streaming music services. The audio from the toon returns, with the title of "If I Don't Get Video Games for Decemberween" no longer truncated by ellipsis. This version of the album includes two additional bonus songs: "Santaman is a Blademan" and "Death Defying Entertainment". All songs are simply credited to Strong Bad, with the actual artists listed as "featured" where applicable.
The release was announced via a @StrongBadActual tweet.
