Firebert emerging from Hammerspace

Residents of the Homestar Runner universe often reach into Hammerspace to access regularly unavailable items. Hammerspace is an imagined "storage realm" that allows cartoon characters to have access to practically any item they wish without impeding the plot or ruining comedic timing. As in most other animated works of fiction, the other characters usually make no mention of and seemingly do not respond to the appearance of the new items. Also, cartoons sometimes feature characters hiding behind and/or emerging from objects much smaller than themselves; this is commonly said to be characters hiding themselves in Hammerspace.

It can be said that The Paper, New Paper and Envelope Paper almost always emerge from Hammerspace, due to the lack of a visible printer, although the email the paper shows a printer falling from the ceiling, suggesting that it was mounted up there, also, towards the end of the email, Bubs appears to be installing a printer in the same spot.

Character Videos

  • In Strong Bad's Cool Game For Attractive People, Strong Bad obviously has his items in hammerspace (although he claims he keeps things in his pants). This is very obvious, in that most items seemingly disappear once Strong Bad's hand touches them, without him even grabbing them. The Poopsmith pulls out signs with labels on them, such as exclamation marks, from hammerspace.
  • Homestar Ruiner — If Coach Z finds Total Load in Strong Mad's locker, Strong Mad will then fall from nowhere into the locker room. At the end of the scene, he jumps back up.
  • Strong Badia The Free — when Homestar holds the peace draft, a platform suddenly rises out of the ground beneath him, he pulls his microphone out, and a sign reading "Peace Draft" appears above it, all from hammerspace.
  • Baddest Of The Bands — The bats are possibly kept in hammerspace, as five bats could not fit into the tiny bat hutch.
    • Strong Bad will comment on being able to see the bats if he looks in the hutch, but they always arrive in a scene by flying in from off-screen, even if the bat hutch is visible.
