Recap

This was originally posted on It's dot com's talk page. He realizes, however, that he will not be able to give this one a good answer for a few days, and doesn't want Kookykman to have to wait that long. Therefore, he is moving the question here to a more public place where anyone can address it.

Can I get a recap (no need to be brief, I have time) of the things that have happened here since the start of December? The wiki seems very different after my short break. o_0 - KookykmanImage:kookysig.gif(t)(c)(r) 02:53, 15 February 2006 (UTC)

Indeed. Probably the most easily summed-up change was The Tale of the Guestbooks. Aside from that, we gained some regularly-editing members and lost others. I'll let It's dot com elaborate, elucidate, expatiate, illustrate, lucubrate, and/or corroborate. —AbdiViklas 06:23, 15 February 2006 (UTC)
Well, I never liked guestbooks anyway. So good riddance, I say! Also, I've noticed the blurry and insanely hard to read letter codes for annonys... Who left? Who came? (I feel like an idiot asking all these questions, when I used to be Mr. In-The-Loop. =P) - KookykmanImage:kookysig.gif(t)(c)(r) 20:44, 15 February 2006 (UTC)
Among others, Bubsty left. For, like, a year... Others have come. --DorianGray
And the blurry letters, a.k.a. "Captcha," are the upshot of the NSMC event (I believe you were around for that, right?), verifying that anonnys are actually real human beings. —AbdiViklas 01:32, 16 February 2006 (UTC)
Yeah, I was around for NSMC, but these numbers are a little too blurry and twisty, even by usual website twisty and blurry standards. - KookykmanImage:kookysig.gif(t)(c)(r) 21:28, 16 February 2006 (UTC)

Where's the New Weeklies on the WIki??? February 16, 2006

I was just on the official H*R website and its got new weeklies. The wiki hasn't posted it yet and I don't know how to add it. I thought this site was so we didn't have to go onto the official site to look for updates.

Yes, but we don't have superhuman speed. It usually takes a few minutes for it to update along with the site, and a few hours to finish a new toon's page. - Joshua 00:16, 17 February 2006 (UTC)

Napoleon Dynamite is a Homestar Rip-Off??

I have this theory, that Napoleon Dynamite is a live-action rip-off of the homestar runner universe and characters. I've posted my evidence / conspiracy theory here: http://andrew.hicox.com/?article_id=97 what do you guys think? am I crazy?

I believe that you have several good points in your post, but that would just have to be a major conspiracy. The Brothers Chaps could sue for hundreds of millions of dollars. I'm afraid it's probably just a coincidence. — Lapper (talk) 13:55, 17 February 2006 (UTC)
Tell TBC and see what they think about it-- Benol, aka Coach B 14:20, 17 February 2006 (UTC)
The entire post is completely opinionated. While there are good points, like Lapper said, I don't think anyo of it bears any resemblence to Homestar Runner. Seriously (Talk) 16:38, 17 February 2006 (UTC)
nope, its just completely off base.... csours 05:41, 18 February 2006 (UTC)

QOTW

should the quote of the week be attributed to the character who made it, ie bubs? csours 05:43, 18 February 2006 (UTC)

Vandalism of other wikis

This is notice that vandalism of other wikis in the name of the Homestar Runner Wiki will not be tolerated. Anyone found vandalizing another wiki in our name will be blocked on this wiki for a duration at least as long as if the vandalism had occurred here. — It's dot com 21:00, 18 February 2006 (UTC)

I apologize greatly for what I have done in the past, and I accept full responsibility for what I did. It seems that I may have started a trend of wiki-vandalism, And I also apologize greatly for that. Since I trolled before this rule wa made, I kind of have a loophole out of this, but I would not mind spending the time off anyway. Seriously (Talk) 21:04, 18 February 2006 (UTC)
Look, you do not need to reply to every discussion out there. Sometimes, you can let things just speak for themselves. — It's dot com 21:07, 18 February 2006 (UTC)
This is User:Revidnioc on the Wikicities server, and I don't like this trend. A troll has made several usernames on the Pikmin wiki and they seem to copy each other, one of them being "HRwiki.com is bhghbbbbbbbbbbbbbbb" or something like that. Is this the troll trend?

Just a little question.

Can blocked users still read the wiki? Just wondering.-- Benol, aka Coach B 21:34, 18 February 2006 (UTC)

Yes. Thunderbird 21:35, 18 February 2006 (UTC)
They can also patrol edits and fix stuff on their preferences. Seriously (Talk) 23:44, 18 February 2006 (UTC)
Bit 'o firsthand knowledge, eh? I didn't think of patrolling edits. Thanks Seriously. Thunderbird 05:51, 19 February 2006 (UTC)
Wow, I didn't know that... that's an interesting "feature" of mediawiki. --Stux 16:06, 19 February 2006 (UTC)
Firsthand knowledge. Not a good time in my life. Hehehe...Seriously (Talk)
If it's the same as Wikipedia, they can also post on their own talkpages, at least in some cases. With crap, Yeltensic (T C) 03:52, 5 March 2006 (UTC)

Two great ideas

I have two great ideas.

1. We should list how many frames each toon is. 2. We should have a category for toons and emails with commercials in them.

What do you think? Homfrog 18:13, 20 February 2006 (UTC)

I don't think the number of frames in a toon is really notable. I know of at least one case where it is, and it's noted in the respective article. As for commercials, that's not something we would have a category for. -- Tom 20:52, 20 February 2006 (UTC)
It's also noted in 500 The Cheats, since counting the frames means counting The Cheats. Besides those two special cases, Running Time pretty much covers the burning question - which toon's longer. Thunderbird 21:08, 20 February 2006 (UTC)
And regarding #2, I don't think, unless the toon actually is a commercial, it's very useful. But it could be a useful category for such commercials, such as Meet Marshie. teeeffoh! 21:11, 20 February 2006 (UTC)
There are lots I can thing of, such as Meet Marshie (as mentioned 'bove), Cheat Commandos...O's, Cheat Commandos, Fluffy Puff Commercial (sort of), and Strong Bad Sings to name a few obivous ones. Add to that there's also several trailers, such as Peasant's Quest Movie Trailer and Peasant's Quest Preview, plus In Search of the Yello Dello Theatrical Trailer. I'm not sure exactly how to sort 'em, I'm just listing. Thunderbird 21:19, 20 February 2006 (UTC)

It's been working fine for me. Has it just been happening occasionally, or everytime you try to access those pages? Thunderbird 21:34, 20 February 2006 (UTC)

What type of browser are you using? teeeffoh! 21:37, 20 February 2006 (UTC)
Opera 8.51, and it worked fine this morning and all along. I tried Firefox, it's fine there. Somehow sometime today Opera isn't liked anymore. Qermaq - (T/C) Image:Qermaqsigpic.png 21:46, 20 February 2006 (UTC)

I just experienced some problems, too. Up at the top of the recent changes page was some code or something, but more than what you had, and instead of "line 19" it was like 157 or something around there. It's gone now, but the font is all weird now. SaltyTalk! 00:43, 21 February 2006 (UTC)

It's all fixed here too. Font seemed OK though. (I switched to Firefox for now because it handles the lags better, but Opera pulled up Watchlist just fine about 10 minutes ago.) Qermaq - (T/C) Image:Qermaqsigpic.png 04:57, 21 February 2006 (UTC)

You each just happened to load those pages while I was tweaking this new extension at the exact moment I overlooked a semicolon at the end of a line or something. — It's dot com 07:34, 21 February 2006 (UTC)

The hat

What is going on with homestar's propeller cap? Whas he born with it or something? Or is it just stylish in his creepy, drippy, savvy world? I, I seriously don't know what savvy means, so i probably shouldn't have said it.-ken

Try the FAQ. Thunderbird 03:34, 22 February 2006 (UTC)
I think Thunderbird meant HRWiki:FAQ, not FAQ-- Benol, aka Coach B 02:36, 23 February 2006 (UTC)
No, I'm pretty sure I meant the FAQ. In other words, check if The Brothers' Chaps have answered it. Then check the homestar propeller cap strategy guide. Then the propeller cap strategy guide strategy guide. Then email The Brothers' Chaps. And finally, get your mom to make you a Homestar propeller cap costume. Location

Did anyone else notice that most of the users on the wiki live in the Midwestern United States? That's just a little fun fact. Remember, I said MOST. (I had to say that before any arguments got started.)-- Benol, aka Coach B 19:21, 24 February 2006 (UTC)

I don't think "Most" users (over 50%) of the wiki live anywhere in particular. They seem pretty scattered to me. Thunderbird 19:26, 24 February 2006 (UTC)
Oh, and, for the record, I live in Georgia.-- Benol, aka Coach B 19:46, 24 February 2006 (UTC)
I noticed that on your userpage. That's totally awsome. Keep on the watch for TBC. Thunderbird 19:47, 24 February 2006 (UTC)
Yeah, for all I know, They could be my next door neighbors. Like, what if they don't live in Atlanta, but they live in metro Atlanta, like me. I live really close to Douglasville, but none of you guys know where that is.-- Benol, aka Coach B 19:50, 24 February 2006 (UTC)
They live in "Decatur, Georgia, which is just east of Atlanta". Thunderbird 19:56, 24 February 2006 (UTC)
I live south of Atlanta-- Benol, aka Coach B 19:58, 24 February 2006 (UTC)

You have new messages!

Do you think that we could make the You have new messages thing where it has a link so you can see the diff like Wikipedia's? like this:

You have new messages. (diff)

-- Benol, aka Coach B 15:11, 26 February 2006 (UTC)

Not sure. It might be an upgrade that we have not gotten yet, like somethingin mediawiki 1.6. That's what I think. — Seriously (Talk) 15:12, 26 February 2006 (UTC)
Might be, but I'm tired of having new messages and not knowing who it's from or where they edited.-- Benol, aka Coach B 15:27, 26 February 2006 (UTC)
Well, Benol, if you look to the recent changes, with the "You have new messages." banner still showing, scan the page for a bold change to your talk page. If you click the "diff" on that, you'll see where the message was left. Alternatively, you could check your talk page's history. — Lapper (talk) 15:34, 26 February 2006 (UTC)
You can also check your watchlist. This change is a part of version 1.6 (which has not been released in a stable form yet). — It's dot com 22:57, 2 March 2006 (UTC)
Woah! I was right about technical stuff! That's like, I billion to one these days. — Seriously (Talk) 23:07, 2 March 2006 (UTC)

need more about DJ Teh Cheat

DJ Teh Cheat is currently just a redirect to Club Technochocolate. Since it has been demonstrated that the Cheat doesn't just DJ at the club or at Bub's but also does albums ... it's way past time we had a page just for DJ Teh Cheat, the same way we have a seperate page for Bubs and The Thnikkaman. --NERD42  email  talk   h²g²  pedia  uncyc  22:40, 2 March 2006 (UTC)

It turns out that they released a new line of podcasts called Teen Girl Squadcast that has not gotten to to the main page yet --Dacheatbot · Communicate 05:30, 7 March 2006 (UTC)

Unicode fun-ness

Instead of writing More h*r.com updates... on the bottom, you could use More hr.com updates.... Just a thought. -- Soapergem 02:56, 10 March 2006 (UTC)

A good idea, 'cept to me (and likely many others), your sample appears as "More h?r.com updates...". Thunderbird 05:32, 10 March 2006 (UTC)
For me, it's a box. Qermaq - (T/C) Image:Qermaqsigpic.png 05:56, 10 March 2006 (UTC)
It's tough bein' a box. (Which is what it is for me too. Like what flanks Thunderbird's sig.) --DorianGray
I got a question mark. I'm assuming it's some type of star, correct? Has Matt? (talk) 06:00, 10 March 2006 (UTC)
Solution: thay should rename him Homeasterisk Runner. Qermaq - (T/C) Image:Qermaqsigpic.png 06:01, 10 March 2006 (UTC)
I dunno; I rather like the sound of Homebox. But sewiously, the asterisk should suffice. —AbdiViklas 06:09, 10 March 2006 (UTC)
As an extra bonus, read this whole section as if it was Homestar reading it. The good times are over! Qermaq - (T/C) Image:Qermaqsigpic.png 06:12, 10 March 2006 (UTC)
That's true, some see my double arrows as boxes. The only way to fix that is to upload images of the arrows to replace them. Perhaps sometime in the future. Thunderbird 06:13, 10 March 2006 (UTC)
